Sense of Danger

*huff* I barely dodged that, but still she was really fast even though being in the air, I can tell that she was trying to pierce my head open with that spear.

''!?''

She gets up, straightens her back, pulls the spear out of the ground, and slowly turns her head around.

Half of the face finally meets Aalish peaking his attention, under her light green hair those crimson red eyes are determent to end the life of the living creature that attacked her.

She turns around and starts to sprint toward Aalish.

''!''

What can I say to her? If I assume she can't understand Ell I could try speaking in Tanlum (Language that demons speak). But it's rare to find someone speaking Tanlum here, of course, if she's a creature from the other outside that would make sense, but she looks too much like a mortal race. Then again, I don't want to kill someone because of a misunderstanding.

Aalish grabs his sword just in case she still wouldn't be able to understand him.

''Zare! (Stop!)''

Just as Aalish tells her to stop the white spear is flying toward his direction.

The presence of the spear is big and fast but he can still see it.

The spear flying toward me is as strong as my Arna or even stronger. I can tell that our weapons are the same, no wait that's not the case with her spear. There is a big difference between my sword and her spear. They may be both strong but my sword was forged while her spear was created.

He takes out Arna just in time to hit her spear and make it bounce of the sword into the ground. As soon as the spear bounces off his sword, he immediately focuses his attention on the green-haired girl.

She's standing still?

''Zare? Teru? Ate ref te ont da derevent om nert? (Stop? Why? You are the one who attacked me right?)''

She says with a quiet but gentle voice while hiding her face with her green hair.

She spoke!

''Sho or wae deno ate er o meral rasa. Or es utacu ina uts herid ot ercas iowo oe kile te urcreta tah es jin te eshu, tate uai oro pri tosh es o fake osa if ere es o meral rasa insa it wou te hut (Listen I didn't know you were a mortal race. I was cautious and just tried to scare away or kill the creature that was in the bushes, that's why my first shot was a fake so if there was a mortal race inside it wouldn't get hit.)''

Aalish slowly puts his sword away and waits for the green-haired girl to respond.

''!''

Suddenly the tension that was in the air disappears. Aalish looks at the green-haired girls blushing taking a big breath and then.

''Or mas reno goka!! (I am really sorry!!)''

Bowing her head down and holding her palms together the green-haired girl is apologizing for her misunderstanding with a loud but shy voice.

Huhh!? She's apologizing? I thought she was going to demand that we fight more, her vibe completely changed from before. Her eyes looked so deadly and determent that my option of talking this through didn't look possible, but I guess it worked?

Aalish hasn't been so confused or surprised in his life but he still answers to not leave the girl hanging.

''Oh ne, ne, ne oond ut tro uswa okay us es tesu o misundresut(Oh no, no, no need to bow it's okay it was just a misunderstanding)''

The green-haired girl still continues to bow one after another really fast and apologize, while Aalish tries to calm her down by saying that it is okay.

After some time the green-haired girl stopped and was finally back on her track but she was still shy and not very talkable. Aalish next to her after calming her down is not making it any better.

'' Ute isa es tesu me fatu ner nr triin ut pek ok Tanlum uf al, or nek or udo hae tri tesu peeakin ok Ell (But still it was my fault for not trying to speak in Tanlum as well, I knew I shouldn't have tried just speaking in Ell.)''

She turns around shyly not looking into Aalish's eyes saying.

''I do know how to speak in Ell.''

''!?''

Aalish is again surprised and confused. Why didn't she move away when he said that he will shoot if they don't respond or show themselves?

''But then why didn't you respond when I called out?''

She looks at him tilts her head in confusion and answers with a weak voice.

'' I didn't hear anything… the only warning I got was the shot.''

Aalish tilts his head as well in the same direction as she did.

''But I definitely called out to the bushes, how could you not have heard me?

Aalish while in the middle of the sentence puts his head back to its place still having a confused look on his face turns around showing back to the green-haired girl walking a few steps ahead while at the same time still trying to find his answer.

Was I too quiet? No, no it wasn't that. Man, did I even make my actions clear while calling out?''

The green-haired girl is trying to get the courage to stop the man by waving her hands behind him and suddenly.

''I-!''

Aalish stops and turns toward the green-haired girl with his eyes a little more open than usual.

''hm?''

''I-I was asleep! I am sorry I didn't hear you!''

She tells him in a shy but loud voice and then puts her pale white hands over her face to hide her face out of embarrassment while still secretly looking through the fingers.

*pffm*

Aalish is trying to hold his laugh of getting out by covering his mouth with his hand and turning his head to the other side. He manages to succeed but the green-haired girl still notices.

''Waaa, don't laugh at me''

She tells him in a sad and desperate voice.

''Ah don't worry about it I am not laughing at you I am laughing at the fact that I was preparing to sleep around here too, so you couldn't find a better place to sleep as well?''

She looks at him angrily.

*hmp* she turns her head to the other side.

''Look I promise I didn't laugh at you''

She turns around still not connecting eye contact and asks him in a shy and quiet voice.

'' What's….. your name?''

Aalish is still waiting for his answer looking at her still proceeds to answer the question stated.

'' My name is Aalish Makore, from Makore district. And you are?''

''Makore?'' She looks towards him and questions the word that floated out of Aalish's mouth.

'' Yes, Makore.'' Aalish replies with a smile on his face.

''What about you-''

Just as he's about to ask about her name she cuts into his sentence with another question.

'' You have two names? That's weird I only have one…'' The words that she uttered silently questioning him and herself make a *determined to find the answer* expression on her face.

Aalish is feeling like a heavy bear tackled him, he doesn't know whether to laugh or be mad.

This could be a serious situation, was she isolated from the outside world? I mean it's not that uncommon for bigger districts mainly families with bigger status isolating their kids to a certain age, I was one of them as well, but still, I got homeschooled and knew at least the basic things. Is she like a runaway or maybe is she living alone under the cause of some unfortunate events?

Questions.

I can't do much really if I don't ask her, my head is just filled with unanswered questions leading to more and more of them.

''I don't have two names, my name's Aalish, my family's name's Makore.''

While she's still wondering and looking away, she jumps a bit not expecting his answer.

''Family name?''

She looks at him puzzled.

''Yes family names, Hmmm….. how could I explain this the easiest way?''

The green-haired girl is still avoiding eye contact and looking around trying not to look Aalish into his eyes.

'Hm? Is there a problem?'' He notices that she can't look him in the eyes anymore since the first accidental clash they had.

'' Uhh, no why?'' Surprised, she acts calm and answers the question.

Still looking away she can't look into his eyes.

Why can't she look into my eyes? Did I make her uncomfortable or are my eyes that unpleasant? I know that they have different colors and a lot of people find them ugly, but I didn't know they were that unpleasant. I guess they would be? The left one is yellow and the other's red a weird combination to begin with.

'' Ah no it's nothing, back to the topic, family names are last names to identify the members of a family. To put it into a perspective my last name's Makore and so my mom has the same one, you inherit it from your parent or parents.''

The green-haired girl is listening to Aalish and trying to understand the information he dropped on her. As he stops talking, she slowly looks down and then rather fasts up with a sad face.

''Ah, I see…''

Aalish looks at her.

''What about you? What's your name?''

She jumps a little making her stop her thinking and turns around.

''Ovia… my name's Ovia''

Hmm. She's still not looking me into my eyes it's bothering me a bit, she could just tell me she doesn't want to talk to me or just explain to me why are my eyes bothering her.

''Ovia. That's an easy name to say, I like it''

Says Aalish with a little smile on his face.

''So Ovia what are you doing in this place-''

*RROOAARR*

The strong cry echoes through the walls of the mountains. The cry being strong, produced by a great amount of bloodthirst hungry beasts.

Left speechless we can both feel the intent behind that cry, they're not afraid not even a little, they are proud, so proud that they found something to eat and chew on till only pieces of bones are left that they are telling us about it beforehand.

''War Wolves''

She looks at him to hear him better but the face he was making is what swiped the thought of asking him to repeat himself again.

Behind his blonde sharp but lightly flowing hair that covers just a bit off his face lie his different colored eyes, each one of them looks pretty in its own right. The yellow one represents joy like the bright sun and the red one represents rage as the everlasting fire. I never knew that together… they could look so terrifying.

The bright sun doesn't look special next to a never-ending fire just as a never-ending fire Isn't anything special next to a brightly burning star, two sources of strong light just outshine each other creating chaos that isn't beautiful to look at. But then is it possible to look him into his eyes?

''We better get away from here.''

Without saying anything Alish quickly acts, grabbing Ovia putting her under his arm carrying her by the waist with his hand touching her belly, and starting to run.

Aalish puts most of his strength in his legs with a little of Ectoplasma, he jumps 10 meters into the air leaving little red and orange Ectoplasma waves behind him from his feet.

Our surroundings are filled with little hills not taller than 15 meters I should be able to see something from up here-

''Wh- What are you doing!? Let me down!'' Ovia speaks with a quiet and scared voice while trying to make Aalish let go of her.

Looking around he tells her.

''I will, I will just wait a bit I can't really keep the balance if you keep moving-''

Suddenly I feel something hard disrupting my balance.

*Ughh* A hit in the head?

''Oh! I didn't mea-''

We are falling? Ouch, that was a hard hit, she hits hard, I might even lose consciousness. Ah, I can't even move steadily now.

Just as he's was about to hit the ground, Ovia pulls him up letting her hit the ground first so that Aalish can fall on her. She hits the ground with a loud bang.

*thud* After that Alish falls on her still disorientated from being hit.

'' Ahh'' Immediately after the fall Aalish starts caressing the side of his head.

''This is going to hurt for a week or even more,'' In the middle of talking he starts getting up looking at Ovia.

''Your punches hit hard you know-''

Avoiding looking into his eyes she looks at his mouth speaking responding with

''What was I supposed to do! No one grabs a person randomly and jumps in the air with them so casually ..''

Still keeping the look from before he says.

''You hit me, even though I told you that I will let you down. I don't know if that hit was intentional or not but, it doesn't matter at the moment''

I could swear I saw I glimpse of their fur from behind those little hills, they should be here soon.

!! The thousand unclear loud sounds are creeping on us faster than we can hear.

What's left is just to run, we can't run toward the Lapis village anymore, the only way we can run to is where I climbed from and then turn left to Broken Peak. The chances are higher than fighting the War Wolves. From what I can hear there are around 250 of them.

*Ugh*

I can't even stand properly my head is dizzy and disorientated my balance is fading with every second and breath I take.

''Ovia, get ready we are about to sprint the fastest we've ever in our lives''

She turns around seeing him having a soft but worried smile while knowing what situation he is in.

''Huh?'' Her face states light confusion with a mix of seriousness.

The steps are getting louder and louder.

''I know what you're thinking, but now we can't beat them''

After all, there are about 250 of them, running from them will be hard but I think we can manage to…do…it….

?

His eyes widen and the state of his balance worsens, facing the depth of the nightmare he's in, in this soundless night, only the steps of War Wolves and the moonlight fill up his senses.

Thinking that his eyes are lying to him with the scene that he's presented with he fails to realize that what unintentionally lied to him were his ears still disrupted by that hit from before.

His field of vision is filled with the bloodthirsty creatures running toward him.

There isn't 250 of them… There's around 1500 of them
