Liam cancelled his wedding when his fiancé Jasper ran away with his best friend. “I’ll never be able to replace you, so you don’t have to worry about it.” Jasper froze in his spot as Milo continued. “No matter how hard I tried, Liam didn’t see me as a romantic partner. And trust me, I tried,” Milo said with a soft smile.


“It wouldn’t change if I wanted you to stay or not. You’re honestly a nice and ambitious kid,” Jasper said with a tight voice, his heart hammering in his chest.


Milo smiled at the compliment. “Thanks, I try,” Milo replied but in seconds his mood soured rapidly. “I try but it just doesn’t work. How did you get your internship?”


“I applied everywhere and I guess I was just lucky,” Jasper said as he got up to make them some tea. He looked at the younger man with sympathy and placed a mug in front of him. “I’m done with work for today. Do you want me to look at your applications?”


“Would you do that? You don’t have to,” Milo said, quickly rising from his spot but he sat down even quicker, clearly trying to contain himself.
