“I don’t know, but now you’re free to have them. Come on, let’s get out of here. Have you anything special you want to bring apart from your work things?”

“Clothes.” He gestured at the sweats and T-shirt he was wearing. He was not a sweats kind of guy.

Elora nodded, grabbed his arm, and pulled him through the building and out to the car.

A couple of hours later they were standing on the beach. “My boat is by the house.” How could they have been so stupid to not plan the boat ride? It wasn’t long at all, but it was a significant part of getting to Eli’s house.

“I know. But Frank’s canoe is over there. I’ve already borrowed it once, I’m sure he’d be fine with us borrowing it again.”

Eli nodded. They’d have to row both boats back so his was at the beach for the next time he was coming here.
