They also got what Lou wanted from his old apartment moved into his new one over the gallery, and found a long-term parking garage nearby for their cars.

While they didn’t manage to have another “date”, Lou and Rory spent as much time together as they could between when the gallery closed for the night and when Lou had to get to bed so he’d be awake and aware the next day.

Then, one evening two weeks after Hanks’ arrest, Lou came home looking like he’d just won the lottery.

“I am now, officially, a DPD homicide-robbery detective,” he elatedly told Rory.

“Fantastic! We have to celebrate. When’s your next day off?”

“Since I’m low man on the totem pole at the moment, I work seven to four, Wednesday through Sunday, but I’m always on call.” He smiled wryly. “Murderers and thieves strike anytime, day or night.”

“For sure. Okay, since you’re off Monday and the gallery’s closed, let’s do something special, barring you being called in, of course.”
