“I didn’t answer your question, you know,” Rowan said softly.

His mind had started to drift, toward the sleep lurking on the edges of his consciousness, but Rowan’s words dragged him back again. “Which one? It feels like I’ve asked a lot.”

“Better to ask than stumble around in ignorance.” For a few moments, the warm fan of his breath was all that was between them, as soothing as it was arousing. The difference in their heights balanced their spooning perfectly, allowing Rowan to wrap around Alec without suffocating him or leaving him wanting. “You wanted to stay in contact after you left.”

“Oh, right.” Would it be a mistake to nestle deeper into Rowan’s body? He craved it as much as he’d longed for the sex earlier.

“I know you didn’t like the idea of having a familiar—2rdquo;
