“Yeah.”
“The property’s looking good, isn’t it?”
“That’s for sure,” Carlton said, “and I just thought of something we need to do.”
“What’s that?”
“I think we could use a sort of brick patio around the gazebo. It looks sort of lonely right now, and a patio and some plantings would give it a bit of character.”
“Do you think the contractor can find any more of those old bricks? The ones that match the house?”
“Why?”
“Because a brick patio ought to be made of the same bricks that the pathways in the garden are. Otherwise, it would kind of stand out.”
“I’ll look into it,” Carlton said.
“I wonder what the original landscape architect would say if he could see his garden now,” Eric said.
“That book I ordered certainly was a disappointment, wasn’t it?”
“We wanted to learn more about the guy and his work, and we did. Unfortunately, we didn’t find what we were really looking for.”
“Yeah,” Carlton said. “I guess the Raleigh gardens didn’t rate an illustration in the book.”
