Chapter 34

“What? I’m fine. I gotta go pee.” I slid out from my seat, feeling a pressure in my head that just made me want to scream.

I stood at the urinal, dick in hand, staring at the subway tiles. What the fuck am I feeling?I half-heartedly pounded my head into the tile wall, missing the sound of the men’s bathroom door swing open.

“Theodore?”

A cold flash washed through me upon hearing his voice. I turned, and there he was, peering at me from behind the urinal partition. His lips were pursed, but not in a scowl. He looked contrite, downcast.

“I can explain, mate, I—”

“You don’t have to,” I blurted, not meaning it at all. His flaming red hair was tousled. He never didcomb it, but now, here, its unkempt state was demanding my attention.

“Yeah, I do. I owe it, to tell you.” He blinked, looking at my hoodie. “Is that new?”

“What does my hoodie have to do with your explanation?” I didn’t like the aggressive, petulant note in my voice.
