Chapter twenty Saint

Later that night he did as he had the night before, he went home took a shower, and called Miss Alice, she gave him an update of the day, he was about to leave when his mom stopped him and gave him a lunch bag with his dinner to take with him.

An hour later he entered Janice's room, he check on faith that was sleeping, he then went and sat beside Janice and shake her gently. "Hey Janice, open your eyes." She moans and looked up at him sleepily. "Where's Faith?" She asks in a weak voice. "She's right here, how are you feeling?" "I'm tired." She whispered and closed her eyes again. "Okay rest."

I made two bottles of formula for Faith and put them in the warmer then dialed my father's number. "Hi son, are you alright?" Dad asks. "I'm okay dad but I'm concerned about Janice, she's still very weak." "Well considering how much blood she lost, that's normal. I don't expect her to be up and around for at least another week or so but I think I'll start her on some vitamins in the morning, to boost her energy level." "Thanks, dad." "Don't worry son she'll be alright soon and little Faith is getting stronger each day." "Alright, no worries then, thanks again, later dad," I said ending the call.

I took the dish of food from the bag but didn't open it. Instead, I went over to the cot and played with Faith's little fingers. I felt like a real father coming home from work and visiting his wife and daughter in the hospital, it felt so good, so right, I have always wanted to be a father, and when I found out that Kayla was once again pregnant I thought I was finally going to have a family of my own, a baby of my own. Then I had a front-row seat to the destruction of everything I hold dear to my heart; my dream of a child and a loving wife had once again come to an abrupt end.

With tears running down my face I went back and sat in front of the dish but still didn't open it, instead, I drank some of the drinks and placed the bottle back on the table. "No appetite?' Caleb asks entering the room. "No, sick to my stomach actually," I replied sadly. "That's understandable; you just had your heart ripped out of your chest by an evil witch." "Don't call her that," I said tiredly. "Oh come on, you're still defending her, after what she did?" Caleb asks walking over to Faith. "Calling her names isn't going to make me feel better Caleb."

"Are you sure about that, because I could come up with a few colorful names to call that witch?" Caleb said scornfully. "Please, don't." "Alright, I'll just sit here quietly and admire this beautiful little princess instead." He said smiling down at her. "It's kind of scary to think of how close this little beauty came to dying. I mean, look how weak her mother is, the girl can hardly move much less take care of her daughter, it's so unfair what happened to them."

Caleb chuckled as Faith gripped his finger. "It's a good thing you found them, brother, they both have a second chance at life because of you." "And I have a second chance because of her," I said looking over at Janice.

Caleb looked over at Ty and saw tears running down his face. Walking over to him Caleb put his arm around his brother's shoulders. "I know you're hurting little brother but you'll get through this, I know you will.' "I need some air," I said walking from the room.

The following morning I arrived at work and found Kayla waiting for me in the parking lot. Now a part of me wanted to just walk past her but I had questions and I needed answers. So I walk towards her and stop inches away from her.

"Hi baby, we miss you." She said rubbing her stomach. "Please come home, baby, please." "Stop," I said and cringe when she come near me. "Not going to happen, do you really think I could live in that house after what I saw there, in….our…..bedroom." I suddenly felt nauseous.

"Baby please forgive me, I didn't mean to…." "To what?" I snap cutting her sentence. "To what Kayla? To cheat on me? To betray me? To shatter my very soul? To throw my love and trust back in my face?" I demand in a cold tone.

"Ty….." "Tell me something? Were you trying to kill me?" I ask. "Wh….What, no, why would you think that?" "What triggers my episodes, Kayla?" "A lot of things but mostly anger." She said softly. " What did you think was going to happen when I found out you were cheating on me?" "You weren't supposed to find out." She said her head down.

"How long did you think you could keep all this up before it all came out?" I ask in a tone so cold I hardly even recognized it as my own and all she did was shrug her shoulders. "What were you getting out of cheating on me?" Damn if I didn't feel like a block of ice right now, so cold my tone alone could freeze the Blue Mountain peak.

"I never mean to hurt you, Ty, I mean yes it was daring, dangerous, fun, and addictive and after a while, I got sucked in so far I couldn't find my way out, I'm sorry." She said playing with the end of her hair.

"All of what I'm not, right?" "I love you for who you are Ty." "Love." I snort in disgust. "Goodbye, Kayla," I said and walk away, I didn't get very far when I heard her moan and fell to the ground on her knees.

"Shit, Kayla." I rush to her and lift her in my arms. "Kayla, wake up, Kay." But all she did was moan again and rest her head against my chest. "Bloody hell," I swear as I lift her in my arms and took her inside the hospital.

An hour later I realized that the reason she fainted was that she was dehydrated and her blood pressure was through the roof, damn that means the baby is in distress, she can't lose it, not now, no way, he couldn't allow that to happen, not if he could help it."

An hour after that I check on her again and found her awake. "Hi." She said without looking at me. "How're you feeling?" I ask. "Ashamed, of who I've become." She said wiping tears from her eyes. "Listen, I need you to take better care of yourself and this child," I said sitting beside her.

"You walking out on me did something to me, Ty, I really don't think I can do any of this without you, we need you, please Ty, please." She cried. "Alright, calm down, yes I can be there for you and this child but what you did rip me apart so I need time, time to deal with this, my own way, and no, I'll not be moving back into that house but I will be there for you both, now, it's time for you to make some changes in your life, starting now," I said firmly.

Miss Alice smiled as she entered Janice's room on Thursday morning and saw the young lady joking with the nurse who was examining her. "It's nice to see you smiling." Miss Alice said when the nurse left the room. "You have a beautiful smile; you should do it more often." She smiles putting the bag of things that Miss Melissa had given her for Janice and her daughter earlier that morning on the table. "Where is Faith?" Miss Alice asks noticing the empty cot. "The nurse took her for some more tests." Janice said softly. "Oh okay; then you can take this time to freshen up and get something to eat."

Janice was finishing up her breakfast when Tatiana poked her head around the door. "Can I come in?" She asks. "Yes you can." Miss Alice answers. She stepped into the room and walked over to Miss Alice. "Where's Faith?" The girl asks disappointed when she notices that Faith wasn't there. "The nurse took her for some tests." Miss Alice answers. Tatiana then turned to Janice with a bright smile on her face.

"Hi Janice, do you remember me?" "Yes I do, you're Tyler's sister but I don't remember your name." "Don't worry most people can't; it's Tatiana but you can call me Anna for short." "Okay." "The reason I'm here is that I don't have classes today so I was wondering if you would like me to rope twist your hair."

Janice looks at the girl in surprise. "You want to comb my hair?" "Sure why not, I'm not doing anything right now and I noticed that it has been caught up in one since you came in here." "Thank you, that's very nice of you." "Okay then, let's get started." She smiled taking a comb and bees wax and two other hair care products from her bag then went to the bathroom.

Miss Alice turned and smile at the shocked look on Janice's face. "Don't look so shocked, I've known the Jackson's for a long time and this is just the way they are. They're very kind, even to strangers on the street." Miss Alice said helping Janice off the bed and into the chair. 'And considering that Tyler is practically a saint, I just don't understand why or how that girl could hurt him so badly."

"It's because she's a brainless gold digger." Anna said angrily. "Come now Miss Anna you know that Mr. Tyler doesn't like when we call her names." Miss Alice said. "I don't care, she never loved him; she just loved his money. The sad thing is that even though she never really loves him he's still very much in love with her but all I want to do is wring her neck for hurting my brother."

Janice listens to the two women's conversation without saying anything. She didn't know the woman they were talking about but she too was upset because she had heard bits and pieces of what this person had done and it was quite upsetting that the man who had saved her and her daughter's life was hurting so bad because of this person. She was a complete stranger to him but still every night he gave up the comfort of his bed to come here and sleep on the chair next to her and Faith, now if he would do that for a stranger, what say the woman he loves.

"Are you comfortable Janice?" Anna asks. "It still hurts when I breathe but I can bear it." 'Just let me know if you want to lie down." Anna said pulling the hair band from Janice's hair then making a funny face." "No offence Janice but when was the last time you wash your hair?" Anna asks.

The hell that she had been through for the last two weeks with spending three days in the hospital after giving birth then going back to Leon's house not knowing where her next meal was coming from and a young baby to feed her hair was the last thing on her mind. "I'm not offended, I know it stinks, it's been a month since I last washed it."

"Miss Alice I know she's still sick but could we wash her hair with some warm water? I can't comb it smelling like this." Miss Alice thought about it for a few minutes. "Let me talk to the doctor first." She replied leaving the room and came back ten minutes later. The doctor has an idea, come with me She said helping Janice to her feet.
