Inside an old and dilapidated house, a young man sat cross-legged, covered in blood, breathing very slowly as he circulated his Aura throughout his body.
Had there been anyone else in the room, they would have noticed his furrowed brows, which meant that the young man was lost deep in his thoughts.
And what was running in his mind were questions that confused him.
Why did the Qin Ancestor not kill him and just send him flying into the Outer Court?
Why was he not expelled if he had truly crossed his line?
Why did Qin Zhijian tell him about Keith's Cultivation Realm?
Was there a hidden meaning and motive behind his words?
Did Qin Zhijian want him to prove himself by defeating Keith?
...
..
.
Qin Feng sharply inhaled and then slowly exhaled right as he opened his eyes, feeling better than ever.
A smile crossed his face when he sensed that all his internal injuries had healed, and he could feel that his Cultivation had improved as well.
Regardless of what the intentions of Qin Ancestor were, what he did to him proved very beneficial.
"A Martial General?" His smile thinned as he whispered those words, and then a cold glint passed his eyes.
All this time, he had been hesitant about facing Keith, and it turned out that he was scared of a man who was even weaker than him.
It was ridiculous!
Everything made sense to him now.
Keith had probably used some shameless method to take down Azdaar or maybe he really did beat the Inheritor of Nergal. But it was clear that he had hidden himself behind that curtain of Darkness so that no one would find out about his true strength.
He acted high and mighty in front of him even though he was weaker. How arrogant!
A wave of humiliation hit him as he felt ashamed about falling for such tricks, but now, the rage in his heart was burning brightly.
Deep inside, Qin Feng still knew that Keith was not easy. And for someone so young to have reached Martial General Realm was not a joke.
Keith was just as talented as him, if not more, but now things had reached a point where Qin Feng could not take a step forward without proving himself by defeating the Inheritor of Darkness.
He had to overcome the enemy who seemed insurmountable. Otherwise, he felt like he would lose everything. And he was losing everything.
Suddenly, the image of the pendant that Keith was wearing crossed his mind, and his resolve hardened.
He had to get his hands on that pendant at all costs. And he wanted Qin Roulan now.
It was a matter of his pride that he would not let another man take the woman he had decided to conquer.
Standing up, he walked over to the table where his backpack was placed, and he fished out a wireless phone to dial a number.
"Did you find anything?" He asked as soon as the call was picked up.
"No, Lord Hades," Cerberus replied. "Everyone has suddenly disappeared. There is no trace of the Demiliore Family."
"They were at his Estate in Hangzhou!"
There was silence at the other end when he angrily yelled, and Qin Feng sighed when he realised that he was losing his mind.
"Are you sure they are not there?"
"They all disappeared the day he left the city with Qin Rouxi."
"I see. And did you find anything about the person who placed the hit on my head?"
"No, My Lord. The Organisation refuses to cooperate. They look down on us and have clearly said that they would never divulge the information of their clients." His Servant sounded indignant, and Qin Feng knew why that was the case.
"Don't worry. They will all soon realise their mistakes." He promised and ended the call.
Qin Feng was quite frustrated from failing to gather any useful information from those Assassins.
He was hoping that he would gather something from the remaining two, but both of them had suddenly disappeared from the face of the Gaia.
They were not at the place where they were meant to be staying, and he did not know why, but he felt like Keith was behind their disappearance.
The Inheritor of Erebus was there that night when he had influenced that Assassin's mind and made him speak the truth, and Keith had probably heard those words and had gotten to the other two first.
But why?
Qin Feng refused to believe that it was Keith who had placed a hit on his head and dealt with the Assassins to cover the trail.
They were after Wei Feifei as well. And the Inheritor of Erebus was anything but dumb enough to believe that those Assassins could kill him. Being a Mortal God as well, he too would know that there were methods to make people speak the truth. So, why would he make such a silly error?
"Did he kill them because they tried to steal that pendant from Wei Feifei?" He frowned as he asked himself the question.
His instincts kept telling him that these two pendants were priceless treasures, but he did not know what function they served.
"Are those pendants the reason behind your talent?" He narrowed his eyes as he entertained the thought, and the desire to get his hands on those treasures intensified.
No matter what, to get Qin Roulan or those Pendants, he had to defeat Erebus. And once the Mortal God of Darkness is defeated, everyone in the world would know their place.
A confident smile crept on his face, but then it froze when a name appeared in his mind.
Nyx.
Would she kill him if he harmed Erebus?
All the courage and resolve that he had mustered up started crumbling down as he was reminded of his helplessness and mortality.
Hours passed by, and by the time the daylight brightened everything up, Qin Feng had finally found a way.
It was a risky one, but if Keith accepted his challenge then even Nyx or any other Mortal God would not be able to do anything about it.
Having made up his mind, he stood up to take a bath in the nearby lake.
There was a light smile on his face now, almost a triumphant smile, and the only thing that could go wrong was if Keith refused to accept his challenge. But that would work well in his favour too, as it could be proof of the Inheritor of Erebus' cowardice.
On the other side, inside a compound away from the rest, Keith was sitting at the table with Roulan, having his breakfast.
The Qin Princess was frowning as she ate her meal, debating over the offer that Keith had just made to her.
Her decision was irreversible, and it was the one which would shape her future.
On one hand, she wanted to remain true to her Blood and honour her parents, and on the other hand, she could truly become part of her future husband and their legacy would carry an honoured Blood blessed by the Divine Laws.
"Does everyone in the Qin Family of the Central Heaven bear the Dragon Blood?"
"Yes. The day your father reaches Central Heaven, he will be offered a Drop of Blood, depending on his talent, and he will have to form his own Draconic Bloodline if he wishes to keep the name, Qin."
"He never told me..."
"He does not know." Keith smiled.
She frowned some more and then raised her head and looked into his Amethyst eyes.
"Will you promise me something?"
"Yes?"
"You would never give the same Blood to any other girl once you give it to me. I want it to remain my legacy." She said, and there was firmness in her eyes and pride in her voice that made him smile.
"For that, you will have to become like Ingrid and Ingvild. You will have to become my daughter in Blood and in the eyes of the Laws."
"I understand." She took a deep breath and nodded to him. "I agree."
"Good." He playfully smiled at her. "Now that you have agreed, let me tell you a secret."
Roulan curiously raised her brow at him, her heart already slowing down, preparing herself for another bombshell.
"You will become my daughter, bearing the Divine Dragon Bloodline, and then you will be able to bestow a slightly lesser Bloodline to your father and mother. And though lesser than yours, it would still be a Divine Bloodline. You will create a new race meant to serve you."
Her beautiful pink eyes widened in shock, and Keith could see her body start trembling a little in excitement.
"You should have told me that from the start!"
"Well, then I would have not been able to see your cute expressions."
Roulan sighed at his words and then smiled brightly.
"It will be better than any Bloodline that he can form with the help of the Qin Family, right?"
"Of course."
"Should I tell him?"
"Not yet." He shook his head, and she obediently nodded her head.
She was about to raise another question about his Bloodline when she noticed him narrow his eyes.
"What happened?"
"Qin Feng is rushing over here." He said, and her brows furrowed.
"He took the bait." She was now even more disappointed in the Child of Destiny, who had gotten played so easily by a simple revelation.
Roulan stood up and followed Keith out of the house, and just as they stepped out, Qin Feng landed on the front lawn.
"Mind your eyes, Mr. Qin," Keith said as he saw the Child of Destiny narrow his eyes at Roulan.
"I challenge you to a Sacred Duel, Keith Demiliore." Qin Feng coldly said. "The Duel of Subjugation."
Though they both expected him to ask for a Duel, even Keith had not believed that he would ask for a Duel of Subjugation.
"Not Life and Death?" He smiled.
"That's too easy." Qin Feng grinned.
"I refuse." Keith immediately shook his head, and seeing the dumb look on Qin Feng's face, Roulan could not help his smile. "Don't misunderstand, Mr. Qin. I am not scared of you. But perhaps you don't understand what the Scared Duel of Subjugation means."
"I know what it means." He said. "The Victor takes everything from the fallen, even the Favours that the Divine Laws bestow on them."
Keith narrowed his eyes at the Child of Destiny.
"Is that what the former Lord of Purgatory Island did?" He knowingly smiled. "Is that how you became the Inheritor of Hades?"
"That's not your concern." Qin Feng bluntly said. "Are you not going to accept my challenge?"
"You are not my equal Mr. Qin. And I am not going to disrespect my family and my blessings by putting them up as stakes just because you don't have respect for those who belong to you." He straightforwardly said.
"Life and Death then." The Child of Destiny triumphantly smiled but froze when Keith shook his head.
"No."
Even Roulan looked at Keith in surprise, and she was shocked by what she heard next.
"You may have jested, but I consider your impudence unforgivable. We will have a Life and Death Duel, but only if you offer everything you have as a prize for me." He coldly smiled. "And you will take your Vow right now."
"What makes you think I will accept that?"
"You are the one who came to challenge me. So, put everything on the line if you want to have a Sacred Duel. I am not obliged to follow your terms." He shrugged and said, and smiled in his heart when he saw the anger on the man's face. "Why are you hesitant, Mr. Qin? I thought you were ready to put everything on the line?" He chuckled. "How disappointing. Go back, and only return when you dare to stand by your words."
Keith deliberately mocked him and turned around to walk back into the house.
Seeing him leave, Qin Feng suddenly smiled, mistaking his act as a trick to avoid a battle with him.
"I agree. But if I am to take the Vow, we will have the battle tonight."
Keith stopped in his steps, smiled at their words, and masked them before he turned around.
"Very well, take your Scared Vow then." He said.
Roulan stood there in disbelief as the Child of Destiny started taking his Scared Vow, and when he left and they entered the house, she felt chills run up her spine when she saw the cold smile Keith was wearing on his face.
"A man who does not respect his Life does not deserve it and anything it has given him." He told her, and she lowered her head, saving those words forever in her mind.
