Chapter: The Call

Hey Bruce, I wanna show you something that I think will excite you,” Amy said after hours of educating me in the traditions and customs of what would become my new life. She even explained that the vibration I felt from Morgan was from the weapons Arc Hunters carry. And when they come across any individual vibrating uncontrollably around them, they tag the individual as a celestial and kill that individual. Most Celestials as a product of adaptive cells in their body, quickly adapts to the vibration, so much that it feels normal and they don’t notice it anymore. It totally explained why I suddenly stopped feeling it the vibration around Morgan.

But then again, all these weighed heavily on Amy’s ability to convince the Supreme Triskelion Knight that I wasn’t a threat and it was all a huge misunderstanding. Basically I was mostly worried that it might be hard to get my name cleared without giving the real truth that my body was possessed, according to Amy, the Celestials didn’t take kindly to body possessions of any sort. Amy said she needed a little time to come up with the right cover story for me, as well as try to put an end to the possession.

“Yeah, sure, what do you have in mind?” My brain did a curious twist when she simply opened my palms and closed it with hers. A little light shimmered from the space in her fingers, barely visible. My palms felt a bit cold and a second later became heavy, when she took her hands away, a diamond the size of a door knob rested coolly in my palms. I opened my mouth to say something, but the words never came out. I heard her laughing as my jaw dropped and I remained speechless.

“This must worth a lot,” finally I found my voice again. “He still speaks, I thought for a moment there you lost your ability to speak.” She tried to quench her laughter but it kept coming until she forced it to come to halt. “Forgive me, it just that the look on your face was to die for.” She picked up the diamond and tossed it into her other hand like it was just a worthless piece of rock. “I am sure it’s worth something but at the moment I do not know what it will go for on the gem stone market.”

“You can produce diamonds out of thin air, I believe that’s one of your powers.” She moved her hands over the diamond and changed its shape into dagger. “You are flawlessly correct Bruce,” she let go of the dagger and it remained in its position in the air. With a smile she turned to me, and I could tell that she was waiting for me to figure out what power she was currently using.

“Telekinesis, you can control objects with your mind, just like you are currently holding the dagger in place now.” She smiled now in approval and let the dagger float in front of us. “You are a smart one Bruce, so this next one should be easy.” With a wave of her hand, the diamond dagger change form to water, though it remained in its dagger looking appearance, but it was just water now. “You create water and if I'm correct, you control all forms of liquid.” She flexed her wrist and in an instant the water dagger reformed itself to look like a bubble of water flowing in the air, and in an instant rushed to her finger tips and was gone. “I'm impressed Bruce,” She was about to say something else when my phone rang. The name on the caller Id had my heart skipping. “I hold that thought, I have to get this.” Amy simply smiled as I rose to my feet and answered the call.

“Hey Morgan, what’s up?” Amy’s head turned to my direction like a violent wind, I used a finger to gesture that she remains on the couch and that earned me a disapproving look from her. There was no point trying to get privacy now, Amy had explained that regardless powers, Celestials had general abilities that included enhanced speed, strength, rapid healing and enhances senses. This simply meant that without much effort, she will hear the entire conversation with ease.

Morgan’s voice sounded intriguing as could always be expected of her. “You ran out on me Bruce, is everything okay?”

“Yeah, everything is fine I just had to get home immediately.” There was silence for a moment, and then she spoke again.

“I can’t help but feel like you are avoiding me.”

“Now why on earth would I want to do that, we are cool together.” Amy’s eyes widened and in that instant I realized that the last part of that sentence was going to put me of a different path than I originally planned for.

“Woaw, together, that was fast, even for me.” This was this point where a normal guy would clear the air and say that it was just a slip and he wasn’t planning to imply that they could date, but instead found myself saying.

“What’s the point in being traditionally about it, we are practically both sides of the same coin and we are both realist. We’ve known each other for just three days and we can’t deny that there’s a something between us.” I couldn’t believe the words coming out of my mouth and from the look of things same could be said for Amy with the shocked look she gave me. Morgan was according to Amy was going to kill me on instinct, but here I was weirdly talking about a serious relationship with her.

“Honestly I called you to discuss this exact thing.”

“Oh really, do tell.”

“Bruce, I don’t do friends, not mention doing love and all the issues that comes with it. But then I meet you and it feels like I for the first time, I'm alive.”

Her words stuck deep now because underneath all that I had to deal with, I find my thoughts drifting towards Morgan, especially after the time she spent in my room and our little sparring exercise with her ring dagger.

“I couldn’t have said it better myself.”

“So what do we do Bruce, we can’t just go hot for each other without actually building trust between us.”

“So let’s build, let make out time to get to know each other very well. This is new for me, but I'm willing to take the dive if you are.” Amy was visibly mouthing ‘no’ over and over again but I smiled and waved her off.

Morgan’s voice came after a second, “I'm willing to take the dive with you Bruce.” She paused for a moment, “Bruce, can we pick this up in school tomorrow, there’s something I need to do right away.”

“No, problem, I’ll see you in school tomorrow.”

“Really, after everything I told you about Morgan and her people and how dangerous they are you are trying to play Romeo and Juliet. You said there was nothing going on between you two.”

In the years since I have known Amy, I have seen her upset a few times, and I could tell that she was working her way there. “I said I have no idea and that was the truth, Amy I didn’t mean for the conversation to go the way it did, but it just did and honestly, I know how weird it sounds, but I think I have feelings for her.”

Amy robbed her temple for a minute, “I think you want to get yourself killed before the end of the week. Goodnight Bruce, I'm going to bed.” Before I could say a word, she was out of the room. With all that I learnt today, I really could use a good sleep, I thought to myself as I walked to my room.
