MATCHING

In the living room, Eddy finally talks to Ayumi and Mitha. In Indonesian, Eddy expresses his wish to Mitha.

"Mitha, to strengthen the kinship, I want Erwin and Aida to have a close relationship. At least as lovers, because I see Erwin loves Aida so much."

"Dad, I agree. After all, in Indonesia, Erwin seems to have just had his heart broken. That girl, um… who is that? Aha, I remember. Yoshi. Who knows, with Aida, Erwin gonna be happy," Mitha replied, smiling at Erwin who looked embarrassed.

Aida is very happy after hearing Mitha approve of her relationship with Erwin. He approached Mitha. However, Erwin is still shy about the matchmaking.

While shaking hands, Aida said in Indonesian. "Thank you, Miss,"

"Be well with Erwin, Aida. He's also good at cooking," Mitha replied.

"Oh yeah?" Aida asked Mitha.

"I'm sure, Aida. You have to try the food. I just got addicted," said Mitha.

With a friendly smile, Aida expressed her curiosity, "I'm curious. But I'll try his cooking later. I'll excuse myself, Auntie."

Eddy smiled happily. He then spoke to Ayumi.

In Japanese, Eddy said to Ayumi, "Do you agree with my plan, Ayumi?" Ayumi smiled while looking at Mitha.

"I agree as long as Aida agrees, Pa. and, I see Aida seems to really love Erwin," she replied in Japanese.

Mitha just smiled friendly looking at Ayumi. Eddy finally explained Ayumi's words to Mitha. Hearing Eddy's explanation, Mitha understood.

"Okay. I agree with Erwin's relationship with Aida. I hope they are happy with it," said Mitha in Indonesian.

Although constrained by language differences, the atmosphere in the living room that afternoon looked familiar. Differences in language and culture do not hinder the family atmosphere there.

Meanwhile, in front, Goro, Sam and Richard are seen decorating the front garden for a family gathering. Goro and Ayumi's relatives will come, all of them. They are very busy decorating. Needless to say, it was evening. The decoration has been completed.

"Arigataidesu. Junbi ga kanryo simashita" (meaning: Uhm, thank God. Preparations have been completed), Kenji said.

"Yeah, finally," said Sam and Richard at the same time.

Goro took a bottle of sake and four small cups and carried them.

"Sā, min'na de o sake o nonde kono deai o oiwai shimashou," (Come on everyone, let's drink sake to celebrate this meeting)

He distributed cups to everyone, then he poured sake into all the cups.

"Mirai ni kanpai," (meaning: We toast to the future) said Goro as he raised his cup.

Sam and Richard did the same even though they didn't understand Japanese. Finally, Kenji banged his cup and said, "Yeah, for the future."

They toasted, and everyone laughed happily. They seem close despite the different languages and cultures.

In the evening, the Garden Party begins. Relatives and family of Ayumi and Goro's family came. Ayumi and Goro introduce distant relatives and their newly discovered biological father. They have no difficulty adapting despite different languages and cultures. Everyone rejoice.

And at night, Ayumi gave Eddy, her biological father time, to give a speech.

Eddy started to speak in Japanese.

"Tōji, watashi wa wakai koro, kurakute zankokuna jidai ni chokumen suru to wa omotte imasendeshita. Dainijisekaitaisen-chū, soreha urami o nokosu tekii to kizu o umidashimashita. Demozo, no anata no kazoku. hitori, Hiro to Masaru wa jitsuwa ai." (meaning: In the past, when I was young, I did not expect to face a dark, cruel period. During World War II, I had created hostility and wounds that left a grudge. However, your family, one of your ancestors, Hiro and Masaru actually showed love)

Eddy sighed. "Hiro, Masaru. Anata ga koko ni ireba, otagai no koto o motto yoku shiru koto ga dekiru kamo shiremasen. Soshite, kinarushi. Anata ni oitsuku mae ni, futari no mago o danketsu sa semasu. Erwin Reese to Aida Masaru." (Hiro, Masaru. If you were here, maybe we'd get closer. And, Kinarsih. Before I catch up with you, I'll unite our two grandchildren. Erwin Reese and Aida Masaru)

Everyone stood up and saluted Eddy. They ended up having dinner together in a family atmosphere.

While everyone rejoiced, Erwin and Aida looked at each other in silence. They sat in the back seat. Ellen who was sitting next to Erwin kept pushing him to talk to Aida.

"Sis, why are you silent? Talk to him," said Ellen teasing Erwin.

"What do you know, Ellen?" Erwin replied in a sulky tone.

Ellen choked. He immediately racked his brain.

"Hmm… He always hides his love for Aida. Okay, I'll unload tonight!" she said in his heart.

She apparently intends to work on Aida. Ellen picked up a mouse she caught at the inn. She put it under my bag that Aida was sitting on.

While silent, Aida was surprised by something moving at her feet. She was surprised to see a mouse at his feet.

"Kyaa!!!" Aida shouted.

Erwin was surprised to hear when suddenly heard Aida's scream. Aida ran to Erwin and immediately hugged him tightly.

"Erwin, please… there's a rat at my feet. I'm disgusted..." Aida said in Indonesian.

Erwin was surprised, "Aida, are you serious?"

"Yeah, just now… Sigh…." Aida said with a disgusted face.

Erwin suddenly turned pale because he was also disgusted by mice, but he tried to cover it up. Aida who saw Erwin's pale face asked, "Erwin, are you afraid of rats?"

"N… no…. Come on, let's find it," said Erwin pretended.

Erwin looked down. He couldn't find a mouse. "Aida, the rat is gone. Come on, let's sit back down."

Aida is still in shock. He continued to hug Erwin tightly. Slowly, his feelings of love grew. He gently stroked Aida's long hair who was still scared. "Sssh… , Aida. Calm down."

Aida felt so comfortable with Erwin's gentle caress. She smiled sweetly and subconsciously, she hugged Erwin so tightly. Ellen just smiled at him. After dinner, Eddy felt exhausted he asked Sharon to take him to the guest room.

"Sharon, I'm exhausted. I want to rest. Let them continue the show," said Eddy to Sharon.

"Fine, Ed," she answered simply.

Sharon pushed her wheelchair, and helped Eddy to lie down. After lying down, Eddy said to Sharon, "Thank you, Sharon. Oh yeah, I want you to call Erwin and Aida now, please,"

"Okay. I'll call them now," Sharon replied.

Sharon immediately came out calling for Aida and Erwin. After a while, the two of them came. Eddy said in Indonesian.

"Aida, Erwin. Grandpa has something for you," he said, pulling a small box out of his coat pocket.

He opened it, and it turned out to be a pair of old rings he had kept for a long time. Eddy asked Aida and Erwin to extend his hand, "Give me your hands."

Aida and Erwin reached out their hands. Eddy put the ring on. He smiled.

"To think that this old ring fits on your finger. Did you know that in the past, Grandpa intended to give Grandma a new wedding ring. However… it turns out that things have changed. I've had it for about 60 years , and I'm glad this ring is a sign that you two are lovers. Grandpa wants that ring to be your wedding ring later."

Erwin and Aida looked at each other for a moment. Erwin said to Eddy.

"Thank you, Gramps," he said simply.

Eddy looked at Aida. "My grandson, I believes you and Erwin are a perfect match. Be nice to Erwin, Aida."

"Yes, Grandpa," answered Aida briefly.

Eddy smiled sweetly. He seemed to be getting sleepy. "Grandpa wants to rest. You're doing well, aren't you."

Aida and Erwin just nodded. Before Eddy closed his eyes, they were out.

Eddy looked at Aida and Erwin for a moment who walked out of the room. It seemed that Erwin occasionally joked lightly with Aida. He smiled happily seeing Erwin and Aida who seemed to get along well that night.

He took out Kinarsih's photo from his jacket. He looked at her for a moment, and hugged her. Slowly, Eddy closed his eyes. He dreams of being young again, and meeting Kinarsih.

"Ed, you're back?" asked Kinarsih in her dream.

"Yes, Asih. I'm back." Edward hugged Kinarsih tightly.

With affection, Edward kissed Kinarsih's cheek. There was also Masaru who smiled at him. He came to Edward. "Edward… we finally meet."

Edward smiled at Masaru. "Masaru, tsuma no Kinarsih no rent o shite kurete arigato" (meaning: Masaru, thank you for taking care of Kinarsih, my wife.)

"Doitashimashite, Edward," (meaning: You're welcome, Edward)," answered Masaru.

Edward looked back at Kinarsih affectionately, "Kinarsih, I don't want to leave you. I wanna stay together with you, forever more."

Kinarsih just smiled. He took Edward's hand tenderly and together with Masaru, they walked through the white mist to a beautiful flower garden. On that place, Edward released his longing for Kinarsih.
