"Chapter 42- Letting go"

A chilly night along with Laurice, we walked where Tristan said, I didn't think we would see him there drinking his ass off to chase away problems. "Tristan," Laurice scrunched her eyebrows as she went on his table, Tristan wasted his sanity from drinking too much alcohol, he looked at me with a glare as he noticed Laurice in front of him. "Let's drink, I'll pay," Tristan offered us the empty sit on his table for us with stern on his face; what the heck happened at him to be so wasted.

Laurice and I sat in our chairs with him as I called the butler to drag out the empty bottles of alcohol on the table, "What had happened during these days without us?" Laurice asked as she worriedly, Tristan's gaze remain down and didn't utter a word, he kept pouring the glasses that were given to us as if we have to drink until daylight. I remain silent and looked at pitiful Tristan drinking, "stop hitting around the bush, tell us what happen already," I gritted my teeth while having a bad feeling due to his awful complexion, his eyes started creeping out with tears as his cheeks twitched.

he's hiding something from us, "how will we know what's happening to you if you continue to waste your sanity with strong alcohol," Laurice complained while pointing her hand at the bottle of alcohol he ordered, "do you think Klein would like this?" she added before crossing her arms on her chest.

Before sipping a shot of whiskey, his eyes and attention went to Laurice after saying her sentence, there's happening between them we don't know. "Do you have a problem with Klein?" I asked taking his cup of whiskey that he grasped, "I'm letting him go," he said that made our eyes widen, I am sure this has something to do with her mother, but what is it... Tristan won't let Klein go; maybe that's what I thought.

'Slap!' Laurice landed a slap on his face while looking at him as a mere fly, "do you think I would like you to do that, you're even making Klein's life miserable," Laurice furiously exclaimed and pulled his collar as if she's trying to get in a fight with him, "I'm making his life more miserable than you think,"

"what do you mean by that you punk!?"

I held Laurice's wrist where she pulled his collar. "calm down, let him explain," I said before looking at Tristan's helpless face again, he looked at me then lowered his gaze. Laurice sat back on her chair after making a scene, "explain what happened, and we'll understand," I said like how my therapist said to me.

"Klein was..." Laurice covered her mouth with disbelief, her eyes looked like she will shred Tristan's mother to pieces if she saw her face to face, I was also shocked by the news I heard... however I cannot understand why Tristan is blaming himself for Klein's incident. Laurice looked at him with a hint of disgust in her eyes, however, she cannot help to feel that way because Tristan has the blood of the person who tortured Klein. "Blood is thicker than water just like they say," Tristan said poetically, "maybe, God has forsaken me because I have the blood of a dreadful woman," he said while resting his head on the table and slowly losing consciousness because of the alcohol.

"Tristan..." both of us looked at each other and proceeds to listen to Tristan, "I will marry the woman whom my mother likes, maybe he will live a normal life from now on," Tristan mumbled as his vision began to blurry. "I don't want to give him any more emotional wounds," he closed his eyes as his head began to ache, "I am willing to give up... for the sake of his life..." he exhaled his words before passing out.

Belinda went into my room as I was lying on the side of my bed lacking sleep, I closed my eyes pretending to rest waiting for the time she will leave, she sat on my bed, and the bed on her side lowered. "Tristan is, leaving you," Belinda mumbled behind me as she tries not to wake me up, "Tristan is a bad man, he doesn't deserve someone like you," she said while caressing my un-guarded cheek.

she doesn't know Tristan yet she's labeling him as a bad man, or a bad influence. I don't understand people like you, knowing Tristan; he doesn't plan to leave me nor replace me. The only plan he has is sticking on me like a slime, clinging to me until my last breath. I don't plan to live on a lie again, I don't plan to believe the lie you said.

"Madam is planning to set you up to someone who's..." Belinda purposedly took her sentence longer and leaned towards my ear, "safer" she whispered in my ear with a possessive tone, she stood up from my bed and walks toward the door facing my bed. "Breakfast is ready, but if you decide to rest for the whole day then you may," she courteously said like a servant serving her master, she opened the door to leave me alone lying on my bed.

'Shut' the door closed very slowly but before it completely closed her gaze was still pointing at me from behind.

Who would think she would act like this... I can trust no one in this house,
