"Chapter 43- broken promises"

'creak...'

I opened the door with excitement on my face, I took a peek but soon the expression on my face faded when I saw him staring blankly while resting his body on the headboard, Evans who was behind me took a peek at the gap of the slightly opened door. "He seems to be malnourished," he whispered behind me as we continue to peek at the gap, "maybe... maybe he already heard," I hypothesized with a soft voice to avoid him noticing them. "Come in," Klein said with lack of energy; does he have anemia? or is he malnourished?

we opened the door wearing a broad smile with my arms opened wide, he stood up from his bed and slowly walked towards me as he rested his whole body to mine; poor Klein. I ruffled his bed hair "have you been eating well?" I asked as he buried his head on my shoulder, "I missed you," he mumbled on my shoulder, "I missed your less seasoned food," he embraced me tightly.

"where's Tristan?" he asked while looking at Evans with dead eyes,

'did he hear that he sold his mansion to us?' Evans and I thought while Klein locked me to his warm embrace,

"I want to see Tristan," he let go of his embrace and took a step back from us, "he's..." I tried to make an excuse but Evans butted in. "He's flying back to America," he honestly spoke, I looked at him with dreadful eyes; why did you tell Klein!?

"why," Klein's expression looked puzzled as he squinted his eye a bit. "He's letting you go,"

"for the sake of your safety"

"He let you go for the sake of your safety," Evans said with a sheepish look,

Him? letting me go? what about his promises. Will it be forever be broken, just like that? letting me go for the sake of my safety? what kind of excuse is that?

I scoffed and smiled from disbelief, tears fell from my eyes like droplets of rain, Laurice fought with Evans by grabbing him on the collar and kept screaming at him.

"Why did you tell him!?"

"It's better to do so. do you want Klein to keep hanging on him, hoping he will come back and be with him through his life?"

Laurice realized what he said was true but still kept hanging on his collar. "Stop," I repeatedly mumbled as I walked back to sit on my bed while holding my aching head, Laurice came towards me and held my face worriedly. "Don't cry, there is a lot of fish in the sea," she said as if the attachment was never a thing for her,

I felt furious and sad at the same time, I want to punch someone's face but I want to cry on someone's shoulder at the same time. It doesn't make sense. "He's not coming back?" I asked them, Laurice who was kneeling in front of me hugged me and rubbed my back, Evans who was behind her just looked at me pitifully with tears kept falling down through my cheeks.

"where's... Tristan,"

---

"Let him go," the grandmother said without a single hesitation, "I don't want to, I want to see him. Face to Face," I begged in front of her while she was drinking her daily herbal tea, "you will just hurt yourself even more if you keep clinging on that man," she turned her head in a different direction to ignore my plead. "If your husband tells you that he will leave you for the sake of your life, what will you do?"

she turned his head on me with a shocked expression, "it could also include breaking the promises you've made to each other," I added with my brows knotted. She looked at me like a mere ant while bringing down her teacup, "my husband has nothing to do with your problem, if you want to go out, suit yourself,"

"I won't interfere in your business,"

"your grandmother seem angry earlier," Laurice said while holding my hand during the trip to the airport, "then be it," I said bluntly, Evans drove hurriedly on the wide street. "we'll be waiting farther away from you, be careful," Evans said while focusing on the road, Laurice looked at me with an expression that she's doubting my decisions. I noticed her expression and sighed, "just like my grandmother said, do not interfere with businesses that aren't yours," I advised Laurice as she held my hand tightly.

"I will park here, he's probably about to enter the airport," Evans informed me before I opened the car's door, our parking is farther away from the Airport's entrance; I'll have to make a run before Tristan enters the Airport.

As I opened the door, Laurice pulled the hem of my coat and pulled a pepper spray from her pockets. "Be safe," she said as she handed me the bottle. "I will,"

I ran and ran but somehow couldn't find Tristan outside or arriving in front of the airport; am I too late to catch up, but, why do I have a feeling that he's here. Inside, I might find him inside!

I walked normally inside the entrance of the airport, I glanced around in the airport while panicking; I may not be able to see him again, so if he's gonna leave me- I need to see him- one last time-

An embrace on my hips appeared out of the blue. "Klein," A sweet girl hugged me and it was Rheanne, my mask was drenched with my tears creeping out of my eyes, I embraced her tightly and tried to stop the urge to sob.

"Rheanne!" Tristan shouted her name, both of us flinched as Rheanne turned around at Tristan with fear in her eyes, his eyes darkened as soon as he saw me, his expression was mixed with anger and anxiousness. "Klein-" he gasped and begin to look around from behind.

"T-Tristan... I don't want to live with you," Rheanne said while covering me, Tristan walked towards Rheanne who was shielding me, he grabbed me on the arm and dragged me towards the exit of the airport.

"Tristan, please! don't hurt him" Rheanne plead and tried to stop him by pulling the sleeve of my hoodie, He stopped his steps and looked at Rheanne who was pulling the sleeve of my hood, he looked at her with a pure dominant and dreadful gaze. "This is the matter between us only, so try not butting in someone's problem,"

Rheanne let go of my sleeve as she saw his brother's deadly gaze at her, I widened my eyes; this isn't the Tristan I know... "Tristan let go, you're scaring Rheanne," I said but he intentionally grabs my arm tightly and pulled me outside with him.

"It hurts Tristan!" I sobbed softly, "you're overreacting," he said.

As we were a bit far away from the airport, he stopped and let go of my arm. "Why are you here?" he asked as if he's pretending to be clueless, "I want to see you,"

"well I don't"
