ARRIVAL IN THE CITY.
Logan.
How strange, everything in this city is strange. Although I have come so many times on vacation with my parents and I know each of its parts as I step into the heart of the city, everything seems too strange to me. I never thought I would come here without them, nor do I have the same excitement that I felt when I came.
The truth is that I miss them, their absence these months made me understand that the human being wants more, much more but does not realize the precious things that he has, and does not take advantage of them. Looking back on the last time I saw them, the look of pride in their eyes makes me feel guilty.
I never told them that I bribed the teachers to give me high marks, yet I pretended to be studious with them. I just wanted to make them happy, but they were believing something that is not true. Lately, I have taken studying seriously, with the help of Liam I passed all the subjects.
Since the accident, I have been like a zombie, from the residence to the classes, from the classes to the library to study. I've been wandering the hallways like a fucking psychopath, without my parents I have nothing left, and my sister is too many miles away to vent to her. So were my days until today.
When Liam gave me the news that he was moving, I saw it as an escape route, escaping from that city would help me overcome his death. A new city, a new university, and with the only friend I have left. They all vanished after the funeral, the ones I thought were my friends, the ones I thought would be with me through thick and thin. It turns out that they all lied.
Liam was the only one who was with me at the funeral, and the days that followed, when I asked him if I could go with him he smiled and said; "What? You thought I was going to leave you here", and immediately prepare the transfer papers and find a place in the city.
When I got off the plane, the first thing I did was order a taxi and come here.
I'm sitting on one of the benches next to the river, this is my favorite place in the whole city.
I grab my suitcase and get up to walk a bit, the streets are quiet, it is already nighttime for people to walk their dogs, or see children playing basketball, there is a freezing wind for my shirt but it suits me, here the air is pure and clean.
I walk, I walk thinking about the things I might have realized if I had opened my eyes earlier. I wouldn't have found out that Chloe was cheating on me with Tom.
We both grew up together, and in the last year of the Institute Chloe arrived, the three of us were inseparable. We went to the University, we did not want the friendship to go to waste, it felt great for me to be in the same place, with my girlfriend and my best friend.
Of course, all that emotion was gone when I discovered them in bed together. My heart broke into a thousand pieces that night, and I swore never to show my feelings for anyone again, falling in love is for the weak, love makes you vulnerable.
That night I went to Joe's bar and told him what had happened, I still remember his sad look and his words. He already knew it, everyone else did too.
Everyone knew that Chloe and Tom had a relationship months ago, long before they got here.
What an idiot.
How blind.
From that moment I got away from everyone, changed my apartment for a residence, and there I met Liam. I don't need to tell him the whole story to make him understand me, as he had been through something similar.
We went for drinks at the bar and that was when he told me that he had a twin sister, but unfortunately, she had had an accident and now she was asleep. Between the fifth drink and the taxi ride, I woke up the next morning with two girls in my bed, I felt strange and guilty, but the guilt was gone when the two girls got dressed, took their belongings, and disappeared. I was attracted to the powders of one night. No bonding, no dating, just sex.
At the time I lost my parents and now I am here.
I would like to say that it was a difficult stage but I will not deny that I liked a one-night stand.
As I was walking down the street, I came to a stop at a corner where the loud noise of music, the laughter of girls caught my attention. Little by little I got closer to that place and came to stop in front of a bar.
ARTEMIS
I don't think about it much and decide to go in.
