Just A Sneeze

The Moon Goddess returned to the forest and cried.

Why was it so hard to find one who had undying fidelity to her?! Daniels and Ryton were perfect but neither cared for her. Groaning, she stuffed her face into the fur of her wolf. His woodland creatures surrounded her, protected her as they always had.

"Why must it be this hard? I can't even find one," she crossed her arms and huffed.

"Maybe I should just let them do as is and pretend nothing is wrong," she covered her face underneath the moon, hidden by the forest. Sighing, she laid on the grass and closed her eyes.

"It isn't like you to give up, sister."

She smiled, turning to her dear brother. White hair and golden eyes, the man smiled with a wave. Sitting up, he joined her and she leaned against the man.

"You're one to talk. People worship you even now. The sun will always be worshipped but the moon does not need to be," she mumbled with a pout.

"Mm," her brother patted her head, "While you were asleep, I saw much of the changes. Many are still in need of your werewolves, sister. If I had your powers to create protection, I would. But I bring life, dear sister. Do not give up on our people."

Ah, her brother was right. She couldn't give up now. She had to remember why she was here and all the people who still cared for her. Her powers aren't as strong as it was before, but that was okay. Once people see she finally found a chosen werewolf, they would start believing in her again. Then, her power would be stronger and she could change the balance of power again.

"Thank you, brother. Hm? Shouldn't you be asleep?" She questioned staring at her brother.

"Yeah," he yawned, "But my sister was crying so much, the ocean was rising too high."

She laughed and gave her brother one long lasting hug, before the man returned to bed. Alright, she could do this! Tomorrow, she would find someone worthy of being her chosen. She had to believe it.

She woke up to the light drizzle of rain. Her dear wolves tried to cover her from the rain, but she still felt the light patter against her face. Staring at the sky filled with clouds, she pushed herself up and sighed.

"Alright! Time to start. Wish me luck, my loves."

So, with a pep in her step and a light in her heart, she walked down the path to her new destination. Hair and clothes soaked, but she didn't care. She would be fine and she would find someone as her werewolf protector.

People on horses and people walking by under umbrellas looked over at her in confusion. She refused their help or their offered umbrella. She smiled as she hummed a song she remembered from her past. Honestly, her legs were hurting a bit since she had walked for a while, but that was okay! She was going to keep going.

It is only a bit of rain after all!

She sneezed and paused.

'Eh, just a little sneeze. I am totally fine!'

With her brother's watchful eyes, she leaned against the tree along the road. Pulling back her hair from her face, she looked up to watch the birds huddled in their nest. They were tucked under the branches and leaves, protecting themselves from the rain. She smiled and saw one of the baby birds fell off the tree. Quickly moving, she caught the baby bird in her hands.

"Peep, peep," it cried and she smiled, tucking the baby against her chest. She closed her eyes and sent her power for the bird to grow up well.

She looked up and placed the baby bird on her head. She was going to need to climb, since the nest was branches high. So reaching for one branch, she began climbing. Her bare foot was starting to have callouses and splinters, but that was okay. She would clean them later once she returned the bird home.

She was almost there, but her hand slipped and she was falling.

'Oh no!'

Across the street, a man with round glasses and long white hair, was walking down with an umbrella in hand. The pitter patter against it calmed him as he smiled down the street. He held a bag of herbs he found in the forest and bought in the market. Now, he would be able to restock on needed items.

During rainy days, many people were inside where they were warm and safe. That helped him with his job, since he was the city's doctor. However, on his walk, he noticed a female drenched with rain. He watched her climbing the tree and at first, he thought that was strange to see, but then he noticed the bird on her head.

Tilting his head, he took a couple steps forward before he took off in a run. The female was going to fall! Dropping his umbrella, he sprinted over and caught her in time. The bird on her head jumped up, flapping its little wings to make it home. They watched the mother chirped before wrapping her large wings over her children once more.

Still in the arms of her savior, she breathed out a sigh of relief. She turned to face a man with piercing blue eyes and long white hair. Smiling, she pulled away and bowed, thanking him for saving her.

"You are drenched, miss," the man quickly ran to grab his umbrella to hold over her, "I can walk you home, if you'd like."

"I am fine, sir," she smile and was about to speak again, but a sneeze erupted out of her. Then another and another.

"Follow me," the man placed a hand to her back and maneuvered her down the street. He walked fast and she tried to followed, trying to catch up with his stride, but her head was getting dizzy. She clutched his shirt and felt her mind fogging up.

"Sir, I need rest," she panted out and the man paused.
