-------------

In the following weeks, Diana came back from her trip to Africa, and was quite shaken by it. Edward didn't ask too much as he wanted her to be ready to tell him what happened, but he could see everyday that she had something weighing on her.

Facing this, Edward was a little confused at first about what he should do, and after some thinking, he decided to continue be himself.

Although she had something bothering her, Diana was obviously able to think of other matters as she came back. The reveal of Edward's identity, having to go through the adoption papers with Donna and Circe disappearing… It was quite a lot to deal with, enough to pull her mind away.

Now, four months after the UN General Assembly, Edward, Diana and Donna were flying through the skies on top of a dragon, the very same dragon Edward had used to fight Circe, whom he created and named Spyro, after the cartoonish dragon.

The Spyro Edward created actually looked a lot like Spyro, except that it was much bigger.

But first how he had created him. Back when he fought Smaug, after killing it and making his breakthrough, he kept Smaug's corpse with him. Then, when he travelled to Hell, he captured all the mythological monsters Hades had thrown at him and captured them alive.

The reason for this, was this dragon. For some time now Edward had wanted to get a pet, one that wouldn't just fight with him and carry him around, but also protect his loved ones were he to be stuck somewhere.

He could have created golems, but he found them to be boring, so he decided to go for a pet, and what better than a dragon for that?

Of course, finding a dragon was easier said than done, and although he found Smaug, not only was it his mission to kill him, taming it would probably be impossible. But a corpse was already a beginning, and so he started working with that.

For some time Edward was stuck, but as he learned all the magical knowledge Kamar Taj and Frigga's Library had to teach him, especially the Life and Death magic, he finally found a way.

He could have simply brought Smaug back to life, he was able to do it, but he wasn't satisfied with that. Not only would it be a mindless drone unless he put someone else's soul into the undead, it would also have been weaker than the original Smaug as Edward had absorbed his Dragon Fire, and an undead was always weaker than the original, at least with his current mastery of Necromancy, which granted wasn't really great. He didn't like that branch of magic.

Moreover, even if the dragon came out as strong as Smaug, it wasn't enough for Edward. Back when he was only at the peak of Unity, he already managed to defeat Smaug, so now that he was at the Revolving Core Realm, and transformed his Core into a black hole and learned so much more about magic…

Although he probably couldn't one shot Smaug because of his incredible defence, defeating it would still remain relatively effortless, so taking such an ally in battle or to protect his loved one was not something he considered doing.

So instead of simply bringing back an undead dragon that would never be able to grow, Edward decided to bring a whole new lifeform to life.

Again, this was something that many would probably consider a blaspheme, shaping life and manipulating souls should be reserved to the creator…

Well, Edward never really cared about that, so he didn't wait for anyone's approval and jumped into it. Through a rather complex magic, Edward fused Smaug's corpses with the bodies of all the other mythological beasts.

Not only to make the future Spyro stronger, but also for the next part, soul forging. But shaping a body was a dangerous thing to do, not for Edward, but for his creation as he couldn't just mix everything randomly together and hope to get something good.

Instead, he had to pay attention to what he fused, and do it the right way. The more beasts were added, the more difficult the synergy would be to make. From Hell, Edward had gotten Cerberus, the Nemean Lion, the Lernaean Hydra, the Chimera, the Sphinx, Medusa and the Caucasian Eagle.

Each of those monsters were about as strong as Smaug, and each had one or more specialities that made their strength. The Nemean Lion had a hide capable of stopping any blade, the Hydra had several heads capable of spitting out different kinds of attacks, the Chimera was a mix of several strong animals arranged so well together they formed a synergy capable of bringing every beast to it's maximum potential, the Sphinx with it's great intelligence, Medusa's eyes that turned anyone who looked in them into stone and the Caucasian Eagle, whose wings could bring it anywhere in the world in less than a day.

As for Cerberus, it had three heads and could spit out the flame of the dead, a cold flame capable of freezing even a soul.

For Spyro, Edward decided to take something out of each of those monsters, for some it was a direct physical trait, such as the hide of the Nemean Lion, and for others it was more of a trait, like the mixed up nature of the Chimera or the elemental core of the Hydra it used to spit out elemental attacks.

And from all that experimenting, was born Spyro. The dragon was only a new born now and thus not very strong, but he was still more than ten meters in length, and would grow to become even bigger than Smaug.

For now he was already quite big, but if Edward's prediction came true then Spyro would grow to become several hundred meters big, and by then he would truly become the Sovereign of the Sky.

In combat, Spyro was also quite strong. Despite being only a newborn and fighting mainly on instinct, Spyro was a very capable fighter. His scales were not as hard as Smaug's, but they weren't that far behind, and his talons were very sharp.

Spyro had lost the Dragon Fire Smaug had, but Edward had used the Elemental Core of the Hydra and Cerberus' flame of the dead, coupling everything with some magic to create what Edward called the Hell Flame.

The Hell Flame worked in the same way as his Dragon Flame did, but instead of spitting out burning hot flames, Spyro could spit out freezing flames.

Unfortunately, Spyro couldn't absorb other flames to make his own stronger like Edward could because Edward was able to do so after the Dragon Flame merged with his Core, while Spyro had no such thing as a Core.

However, the Hell Flame was plenty strong already, and it would get stronger with time as Spyro grew older, and as he ate souls. A soul eating dragon, how exciting. Moreover, Spyro's Hell Flame would also grow with Spyro, meaning it would become stronger with age.

But it wasn't even over, as Edward had also fused all the souls from the mythological monsters, and gave Spyro the great intellect of the Sphinx. Spyro thus had a strong soul, and was even more intelligent than the average man, despite being a new born. He could already completely understand several languages despite being slightly more than four months old.

All of this added together made for the future Sovereign of the Sky, Spyro the Great Dragon. He was Edward's masterpiece, a beast of destruction with great intelligence.

Of course, Spyro was only a few months old now, and his intelligence was limited by his age, but he was learning, and his personality was shaping itself. Back when Edward fought Circe, it was Spyro's first fight, and he had relied on his instincts.

Although Spyro's personality was still far from forging itself, Edward could see that he was not turning into a mindless beast of destruction like Smaug, but rather a calm individual, which made Edward quite proud. He had created Spyro after all, he was like a son to him.

Speaking of children, now that Donna had become Edward's and Diana's daughter for several months, they really looked like a family now.

Spyro wasn't leading them anywhere right now, they were instead having a picnic on top of Spyro. The young dragon often threw a few envious glances at the family, cursing his size for stopping him from enjoying such moments with his family.

Of the three, Donna was quite excited recently as Halloween was coming up soon, and that lifted her mood through the whole month of October. She really liked it.

As for Diana, she looked relaxed as she slowly ate, enjoying the moment of bliss. Edward was about the same, at first it was a bit disorienting to have suddenly become a family, first with Donna and then with Spyro, but Edward could now say he really enjoyed being a father.

Something which was noticed by Diana, and more than once had they talked about making a child. However, both of them had decided that they would wait for some time, they feared that if they conceived a child now Donna would feel left out as an adopted kid.

So they wanted to wait for a while.

After around an hour of flight, Spyro glided down from the sky near the speed of sound, but the family of three faced no discomfort as Spyro used Wind Magic to make their stay enjoyable. It also allowed them to enjoy their picnic high in the sky without any discomfort. This wind magic was one of the first things Spyro had learned, copying it from his father.

As they approached the ground though, if any person were to stand with the family right now, they would be shocked by what they saw.

The earth below was… not the Earth. Instead, much like Asgard, the ground below was a land hovering in space. From high up, one could see the edges of this land, and the blue sky that surrounded this land.

The three were still on Earth, but in a pocket dimension. A lot had happened in the past four months, which forced them to move out of New York, into this new home.
