The First Fight(2)

"Do not make a noise."

...….

'You don't have to tell me that,' Cain thought to himself.

However, it would be too risky to say it out.

As he slowly reached for his pistol, his eyes wandered around the abomination.

It looked normal which was a good sign that it didn't have any weird mutate. Nonetheless, it was behaving too actively.

The abomination was mindlessly walking in circles…..as if looking for something. Even when Lara's whimpers were loud, the abomination could not pick up on it.

'What is it looking for?' Cain wondered.

He also pondered on whether they would be able to escape from the abomination safely.

*Creak!*

He spoke too soon!

The sound of a branch being stepped on echoed throughout the peaceful park. It wasn't particularly loud, but strangely enough, the abomination picked up on this minute noise.

It turned its head at the group and roared vengefully.

"Shit, maintain composure. Maintai--" Theo tried to control the situation.

Out of nowhere, the abomination stretched its hand for them and it elongated. The long hand quickly reached them and punched Theo.

Seeing this, Cain wasted no time shot at the abomination who was already rushing at them. He left the gruesome hand of the abomination to Azrael. After all, his pistol would not be able to do anything to the big hand.

*Swish!*

Understanding what Cain was doing, Azrael picked her long blade from her back and hacked at the hand fiercely. The blade broke upon impact but it was able to leave a sizable gap on the abomination's hand.

The abomination screamed as red blood sprayed everywhere, "Ahhhh!"

Meanwhile, Cain had successfully blocked out any disturbance from affecting his concentration. His visual sight overlapped with the three-dimensional mental image of his surrounding.

Using this overlapping sight, Cain could predict the exact movements of the abomination despite its extremely fast speed.

He fired one bullet at the abomination but his aim was bad, leading it to hit the mouth region of the abomination.

The second bullet he shot was not much successful and the next shot was even more embarrassing. But there was good news, Cain was slowing down the abomination.

Suddenly, the abomination crashed into a tree. Focusing on the tree, it grabbed it and threw it at the group. This forced the group to disperse and allowed the abomination to proceed.

Cain stood back up as he first the repercussions of his harsh jump.

"Where is it?" He softly asked.

He couldn't find the abomination.

It shouldn't be like this!

The abomination was big. There was no way it would be able to hide.

Cain thought, 'Let me try using my mutate.'

He had already figured out how his [Sixth Sense] worked. It could be used to form a defense field which was in the form of a mental image playing in his mind.

As Cain exposed his senses to his surrounding, the feedback he got wasn't looking good.

"It is above--kuk!"

With a brutal momentum, the abomination landed on him. It knocked Cain solidly to the ground, almost rendering him unconscious if he had not made a last-minute evasion.

Beside him, the fist of the abomination slammed into the ground while it retracted its elongated hand.

Before Cain could catch his breath, the abomination grabbed him by the neck and lifted him up.

Luckily, Theo appeared behind the abomination with glowing skin. The man that emitted hot air shot out fire from his palm.

Following him, the others displayed their mutates. It was most likely the feeling of fear that had allowed them to grasp it.

However, ironically, whatever attack they threw at the abomination did not do its work. The abomination regenerated at a fast rate.

Meanwhile, Cain was going through a crisis. His breath hastened as he felt the big hands of the abomination on his neck, choking him.

'I need to do something….or I will die!' realized Cain.

Inside him, a blue fire rampaged. It resonated with his present emotions, begging to be set free.

For the first time in his life, Cain could feel this cool flame. He could perceive that the fire had been in him all along, even before the events of the apocalypse.

It represented his emotions. A sentient emotion that had been growing in him all these years.

It wanted to let loose for once…...and Cain did just that!

"Ahhhh!!"

A rush of strength filled Cain as he grabbed the hand that stayed on his neck. He used his two hands to free himself from captivity and landed a punch on the abomination's head.

Before he could make another move, the abomination swatted him away!

*Thud!*

As Cain slammed into a tree, he saw Macie and Alexia attend to him. He couldn't hear what Macie was saying but he could feel her warm hand as she touched his skin.

He could feel the broken bones mend back into shape. However, Cain's eyes were locked at the squirming expression on Macie's face.

He could finally understand what her mutate was.

"It is enough," said Cain.

Any more and she might have absorbed his full pain. It would be too much for her then.

*Bang!*

Mark flew past him. Before he could hit a tree, a large body of water appeared behind him and absorbed his impact. He took one look at Cain and nodded politely, before heading back into battle.

Seeing this, Cain understood that the group was already equipped with the means of survival.

He clutched his fist and thought, 'I can feel endless strength in me. It is waning, but if I can hold on for a few minutes, I would be able to…...'

Decisely, Cain stood up and dashed back at the abomination. He dodged the icicle that flew rampantly in the air and the wind blade that danced around.

He was a bit envious that the others had this cool mutates, but that was not the focus right now. Taking advantage of his heightened senses, Cain found the perfect gap in their tracks and jumped on top of the abomination.

The others saw what he was doing and gave him assistance. They targeted the limbs of the abomination and gave Cain the time he needed to unsheath his pistol.

*Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!*

He kept shooting even when the abomination fell down. Again and again, until his bullet ran out. He was about to batter the face of the abomination when a hand touched his shoulder.

"Cain, it is enough!"
