30. Unrestrained Child

Werewolves.

Yes, she was not saying it wrong.

There were indeed werewolves in this world. However, it was different from the past where they were still living a primitive life and were running around on the grassland. This time, the werewolves were living amongst human, acting as if they were not different from normal human beings.

Their existences were a secret and there was a specific website dedicated to control their number and action. Due to the fact that werewolves had higher strength than normal humans, they were not allowed to showcase their strength in front of others. If they did, they would either be eliminated or punished heavily.

Why?

Because their gene was different.

In Compel City, Ann got news that there were several influential people who were actually werewolves. At the same time, almost all influential figure in this city participated in that website in order to watch over the werewolves.

To get the piece of information that Ann had longed to find, she had no other choices but to break into the website and tried to hack one by one. It was just her luck to be able to meet with them because she found out about Davis Family predicament.

Celeste was sick.

Her heart was weak and due to the fact that her father had the rare blood (AB Rh negative), the donor was even harder to find.

There were not many female descendants from the werewolves. Even if there were any, most of them couldn't live long because of some complications. One of such case was Celeste.

But of course, Ann didn't want to explain to Reynard.

She could guess that he must have known something about werewolves because his eyes showed that when she bought those tacky items. But she didn't want to press him for answer and just waited for the right chance to get the information from him.

Anyway, how could a child like him even know so much?

"We're here."

Ann raised her head and nodded. "Alright, see you tomorrow at school. Don't forget my soymilk."

"I won't forget." Reynard was speechless. For the first time in his life, he felt that his life was worth less than a bottle of soymilk.

The feelings… was indescribable.

Ann nodded and walked to the gate. She pressed the bell and waited for some time. Looking at the way the servants were dilly dallying, Ann could guess that Mrs. Davis must be angry because she was staying outside for a long period of time.

Well, not that she cared that much.

"Miss," the servant bowed when she saw Ann. "Madam is angry."

"Oh."

Ann didn't care and walked into the house in a leisure pace. Her footsteps seemed as if she was having a casual walk rather than worrying about getting reprimanded. It was rather bizarre.

Even the servants couldn't understand why Ann was acting so calm and composed even though she was about to be berated heavily by Mrs. Davis. She acted as if there was nothing wrong and that she would be fine even if something happened.

They were looking at Ann and sighed deeply.

It seemed that Davis Family wouldn't be peaceful anytime soon.

As soon as Ann entered the living room, she could see that Mrs. Davis was sitting there with a scowl. She could faintly sense the smell of food from the other room, which meant that they had finished the dinner.

It was not like she wanted to eat here either.

"You unrestrained child! Where did you go at such late hour?" Mrs. Davis snapped immediately when she saw Ann.
