Chapter 13 - Uninvited Wedding Guest

Everything was set. The priest was waiting, Thomas and Drake at their places, a young girl was maid of honor, a pair of around six years old children were spreading rose petals along the red carpet, in front of Mika, till they reached the stand where she was to wed with Thomas. Wedding music accompanied.

Mika was glamorous, holding a bridal bouquet of white lilies, and white, medium high-heeled shoes, with diamonds. She wore a pale rosy gloss on her lips and had a natural makeup. She saw her mom. Anyhow, she didn’t stop, she went all the way to the altar.

Everybody was in awe. Her beauty and attire were fit to Thomas’s statute. They were all waiting for the vows and for the wedding ceremony to finish, as the party was going to be extravagant. Moreover, they couldn’t wait to greet and speak with her, as she was unknown to them. She was known to be the heir of Moridial Pharmaceutics, but other than that, they didn’t. She being a hunter, was not disclosed to them yet.

“Do you take Thomas DiAngelo to be your lawful wedded husband?” It came her turn to answer.

She paused, looked at him, as he already said yes to his part, and matched his eyes. “Yes.”

The priest said his final words. “You may kiss the bride.”

Thomas raised her veil, and kissed her like no one else was present, making everyone go crazy, applauding.

Drake couldn’t see the kiss and looked the other way. His heart was crying, his stomach was clenching, his head was palpitating.

Olivia was crying, dressed in all black. She was at her heart’s funeral, and not at a wedding. Even her tissue was black. She was an extreme woman by nature.

Dorothea Reigna was waiting at the car, to welcome the new couple, and have a word with her daughter.

“Mika. Don’t do anything foolish. Real life isn’t training. You have only one chance, there’s no simulation. Just do whatever DiAngelo tells you to. I trust him with your life.” She whispered in her daughter’s ear, keeping a warm, satisfied smile, for others to see.

“I don’t trust him. I have my own plans. I’m doing this for dad’s company. Don’t expect more from me.” She replied, with same type of smile on her lips, kissing her mom’s right cheek, and going in the car with Thomas, to reach the restaurant and have the wedding party.

Dorothea, though she maintained appearances, became concerned, knowing what that meant. Mika was uncontrollable, only Thomas could master her. At least, that was what she was hoping.

“Why do you treat her like that?” asked Thomas, holding Mika’s hand, in the car.

“You have no say in how I treat my mother. She sold me to you. That’s why she said to wait for a few months. She’s scheming with you, I see.” She immediately retracted her hand and avoided physical contact with him.

“We aren’t scheming, it’s just common ground. There are things you don’t know about. Don’t be naïve and listen.” He grabbed her into his arms, holding her face, an inch distance from her. “I’m genuine with you, not interested in material stuff. I’ve got all I need. Your company is not for me to take and trash. It’s for me to take and protect. The company covers supernatural things. Landing in the wrong hands, could call for a disaster.” And he kissed her forcefully.

Mika slapped him. “You take your hands off me! You jerk! And tell Olivia to stop with her spells! I’ve figured out you put her control me with spells!”

“You excite me more when you become aggressive. Please continue. See if we change the route back home.” He chuckled, giving her a wink, and focusing his sparkling navy-blue eyes on her mouth and back to her eyes.

She was furious, crossed her arms, puffed, and gazed on the car’s window. “You still don’t realize how dangerous I am. I will break the spell. You will have a surprise!”

The car stopped at the restaurant on the other side of the building. When they came down from the car, a rain of petal roses covered them and their path. Everyone was enjoying the event. It was a major one; Thomas had never been married. Many heads of the houses wanted to make an allegiance with him through marriage; he refused. He was unbreakable. No one ever succeeded in putting him down. He was the strongest among houses. Drake was the second strongest, and he was his right wing.

“First dance of the night! Let’s welcome the new DiAngelo couple on the ring!” said Vilore, one of Drake’s men.

Mika and Thomas opened the night with a waltz. “I don’t know how to dance this.” She whispered into his ear.

“Follow my lead, you are doing great.” He danced her, waltzing the ring, with the jewel he had in his arms.

“You stop this wedding!” A thundering voice interrupted. “Mika! Come here!”

“Lawrence?” She stopped the dance, identifying the man who was the uninvited guest.

“This wedding is a fraud! He’s your dad’s killer! Take him!” He ordered his ten gorilla bodyguards.

“Lawrence boy, you must be confused.” Thomas spoke, placing himself in front of Mika.

“I’m not confused. Two days after she landed, you’re getting married? You wanted to take over the company, she refused, now she’s marrying you? Am I supposed to believe she’s willing and in love with you? I know Mika since childhood. She’s never been reckless. I have the duty, in the name of her father, to protect her and make sure she’s not bullied.” He came forward to grab Mika and take her away.

“Lawrence!” yelled Dorothea. “She’s marrying having my blessing. I’m her mother, her only living parent. I gave permission to this!”

“No kidding. What did he promise to you? Are you sure you are acting as her mother?” He mocked her.

He continued his path towards Mika. “Come with me! You’re not alone in this world, you have me.”

“Lawrence, everything is fine, I….” She was impressed that someone was on her side, but this was ruining her plans.

Thomas didn’t want to move and let him take Mika, now being his legal wife in front of the world. They were surrounded by Lawrence’s gorillas.

“Move! Or else…,” threatened Lawrence. “Don’t make me do something you will regret!”

“Just do it and give me reason to drag you out of here!” replied Thomas.

Everyone was silent, watching the show, not understanding the grounds this happened. Some murmured that he was the jealous lover, others wondering why Thomas was accused of murdering her father.

“Thomas! Don’t make me lose patience! I’m not known for being a calm guy! Mika is mine!” He finally said the word.

“Yours?! Ha-ha! Darling, did you have a love relationship with him?” He turned to Mika, waiting for her answer.

“I….” She couldn’t finish the sentence, making people around to accentuate their murmurs.

“Yes! She is in a love relationship with me since she was a teen! Her parents didn’t know! We had a hidden love story! That’s why I know she didn’t willingly agree to this! You must have manipulated her!” He forced his way to Mika, bumping into Thomas who didn’t move, having his jawline contracted and his fists clenched. He was on the verge of his patience.

Thomas stopped Lawrence’s hand, that went to catch Mika’s. By reaction, Lawrence punched him. DiAngelo’s head was projected on the side. He took some of the blood from his lip, with his index and middle fingers, and looked with rage at Lawrence. A physical fight followed, throwing Lawrence on the other side of the dance floor. Gorillas intervened to get Thomas, but Drake crossed them, beating their asses out, protecting his Master and new Madam.

Drake was in shock at first, hearing the love story between Mika and Lawrence, yet came back to his senses, when his Master was attacked. Not that Thomas wouldn’t be able to deal with this, but he was on duty in front of the world.

“Stop this nonsense! Lawrence!” screamed Mika, seeing him fighting with Thomas.

They were clenched in a fight, and she saw her now husband was forcing himself to keep the fight among two humans. If he was to use his real powers, Lawrence would be killed instantly. That she feared, as Thomas wasn’t keeping his control anymore. Lawrence would yell at him, telling details about their presumed love life, to enrage him.

“Thomas!”
