Thomas stopped after punching the guy, leaving him unconscious. “Take him and his men out!” He aggressively took Mika away, leaving everyone with questions.
He threw her in the car and slammed the door. He ordered Odin to take them to his vacation house, a two hours road trip. He closed the window between them and the driver’s seat, to have privacy. “That’s the surprise you mentioned earlier?! You’ve been involved with him?!” He ripped off his bowtie, unbuttoning his shirt at his neck, breathing with heaviness, not looking at her.
“And if that’s true, what are you going to do?! I told you I don’t want to marry you!” She snapped back.
“Are you for real right now?!” He turned his bloody eyes to match hers. Hers were normal.
“I don’t love you! I don’t want you! Imprint that in your head already!” She was looking at him, gasping his reactions.
“Don’t walk that path, Mika. Not now.” He prevented her, avoiding her gaze. His heart was racing, his head was heavy, his left fist was clenched.
“Why? You’re going to beat me? Just try! You son of a bitch! You are angry with me? Why? Have I lied to you and manipulated my way to be your wife?” She took her wedding ring and threw it on him. “Take it back! Tomorrow we will get an annulment!” She decided, with her arms crossed, looking the other side, sincere with her speech.
“Mika, I told you not to walk that path.” He replied with a calm that predicted a storm, taking her ring and putting it with force, back on her finger.
“I don’t want it! Back off!” She fidgeted, trying to get him off her.
“Mika! Stop! Odin!” He screamed that hard that Odin hit the break and rolled the window to see what was happening. “Get us to the nearest hotel! Now!”
Odin speeded to the nearest hotel, five minutes ahead. When they reached there, he reserved an entire floor, one floor above, and one beneath, to give utmost privacy to the couple.
Thomas took her in his arms, bridal style, and went into the presidential room. Mika was punching him, running her legs, while he was holding her, to escape. He lunched her in the matrimonial bed. “Tell me about Lawrence now. What’s going on between you two? Is he your lover?” He undressed his suit jacket and threw it on the floor. “I am listening.” He was listening but acting like a bull.
“He is my lover! Pleased with the answer?! You have Olivia, I have Lawrence! It’s only fair!” She provoked him.
“What does Olivia have to do with all this? Since when she was part of this conversation?!” He raged.
“Oh! You defend her? But I can’t defend Lawrence?” She stood up from the bed.
“I’m not defending Olivia! I said she wasn’t part of this!” His fangs were out, volcano was erupting.
“So, you go to these lengths to defend her. Why didn’t you marry her? You clearly love her if you act like this on me! Oh! I know! You married me because of the company! That’s why!” Her hunter eyes were on.
“Because of the company?! Screw the company! I married because I want you!” He screamed so loud that the walls vibrated.
“Screw the company?!” She pushed him back with fury. “Why screw the company? It’s not your legacy! It’s mine! It’s everything to me! You monster! That’s my father! The company is all I have left from my father!” She yelled crying now. “Don’t trash my father in front of me! I will kill you! You…!” She wanted to punch him when she suddenly was out of breath, supported herself with a hand on him, but collapsed.
“Mika!” He caught her from her falling and put her on the bed. Her forehead was hot. She was having a fever. He tried to wake her up.
“I can’t….” She came to her senses for a while, squeezing his hand.
“You can’t what? Tell me! Mika?” He couldn’t hear her, as she wasn’t clear. He bit his wrist and put a few blood drops on her mouth.
“No!” She protested.
“It’s only to get you heal from whatever is happening to you! Stop pushing me away! I love you! I don’t want to harm you!” He was still screaming, having mixed feelings. On one hand he wanted to keep her safe, and on another, furious she didn’t understand his real intentions.
“It’s the awakening…. I keep having this for the last eight months…. It will pass. Since my father died, they are getting worse. Give me cold water, please.” She asked, tears coming down her cheeks.
He went to the fridge to get her a bottle of cold water. He knew it wasn’t the hunter awakening. It was the other awakening. “Here, drink.” He gave her the water and helped her drink. She was weakened by the episode.
“Thank you.” She said, keeping his hand in hers, without realizing. She had her gaze down.
“Can’t we talk like normal people?” He asked on a calm voice.
“We aren’t normal people.” She corrected him.
“You know what I mean. Let’s work together. We are a couple, family now.” He took her other hand, attempting to get a truce between them.
“Family?” She raised her eyes and lost herself into his.
“Yeah. I know everything is rushed for you. Two days. It’s a lot to digest. I’m waiting for you for the last 16 years. I do have the feelings for you. I haven’t lied.” He said, patting her head, playing with her hair strand.
“How did you wait for me? You said you thought I died.” She was sincerely asking to see his true feelings. Her heart and soul were nudging her to give him a chance.
“I thought you were dead. Your father showed me your casket. Before your funeral. I was devastated. I did everything I could to save you. You were only a child. I even gave you my blood to revive you. Nothing worked. You died in my arms. First time, in my life, when I felt weak and poor. All I had was nothing, to get you back.” He told her, changing his grimace, remembering the painful past.
Mika took his face into her hands, seeing how affected he was. “Tell me the entire story, if you want me to give you a chance. Make me understand. I can’t trust you and your feelings if you keep things away from me.”
He glared into her eyes in silence. “Alright. You think you can take it? It can bring you back memories that you seem to have blocked. It’s not a sweet story. It’s dark.”
“I can take it. Just tell me.”
