Chapter 3

In a dark room, lit up only by a display screen, a multitude of people were seated in it and observed the screen.

"The scores for the practical test have been released. In first place, breaking two U.A records, for most Villain points awarded, with one hundred fifty points scored, and for least Rescue Points awarded, managing to have Rescue Points deduced, in total fifty them, for a sum number of one hundred point. We really didn't see much of her abilities, but she was powerful enough to take them all out with one attack. Probably has supreme control over her quirk. One peculiarity was the 8th place contestant, who only managed to take down the gimmick and in the process scoring sixty Rescue point. Unfortunately that single attack utterly destroyed his hands and feet, but I like him. Kid makes me go Yeah!"

"Good, if that is everything notable we will begin the sorting of the new kids."

Misaka Pov

Spring time had arrived. Following the admission test and her success, she relaxed in the city during the summer months. During the summer she mostly experimented with refining her calculations. At its end she had somewhat streamlined them, but it left much to be desired. She had also taken up martial arts classes, to use when she used Rampage Dress as a Vigilante. Now though, spring had arrived and with it a new school year. Over summer, the study material and supplies that needed to be bought were mailed along with five sets of the schools uniform.

She had woken up early the first day of school as to not leave a bad impression on her first day.

Walking up to the class room she was surprised to find it mostly empty, with only a boy that wore glasses already there.

"Hello."

"Good morning.

They both exchanged greetings. It seemed as if they had come earlier than what was expected. Being bored out of her mind waiting for the others, she started small talk. As she learned, the boy, Tenya Ida, had a Quirk that when used allowed him to grow Boosters in his calves. His brother, Tensei was the Pro Hero Ingenium. After that they started talking about their summers when the other students slowly started coming in. After a short while Bakugo was already arguing with Tenya. Honestly she could probably stop him for now, but he was a menace, and probably not put an end to whatever he was doing. Just as she was about to start talking to the girls in the class, the last student came and a sleeping bag followed shortly after; wait, that's not right.

"I am Aizawa Shota and I will be your homeroom teacher." The sleeping bag said sleepily. "Now change to your gym clothes and come down to the training grounds."

Some minutes later everyone had gotten ready and was heading down. She changed quickly, not without skipping the locker-room talk that was common these days. After that talk she felt like she knew more about all the girls in class. Of course she hadn't divulged a lot of information about herself, mostly because she didn't have any. The girl's in the class weren't that many, but that only meant that she'd be able to hang out with all of them. That thought made her happy. The one thing she lacked both in this short year living in Musutafu, and back in Academy City was friends. So far she hadn't been able to connect with anyone here, and in Academy City, her power drove people away, only a few people approaching her and most of them not hanging around only Kuroko, Saten and Uiharu befriending her.

A shout tore her away from her thoughts.

"Ok, listen up! Today we are going to do a quirk power test. A different one though. In middle-school you did the following without quirk usage: Ball-throwing, the Standing long jump, a fifty meter dash, grip strength tests, Side-step testing, upper-body training, seated toe touch. Here we are going to replicate those eight activities, quirk usage allowed."

"Misaka come here. How far could you throw this ball in Middle School?"

"I- I don't know sir. I went to a school that kind of skipped that. But if I had to hazard a guess, around fifty meters." She answered, feeling shy about the fact that Tokiwadai only focused on ESPER development and the correct behavior of a lady in society.

"It doesn't matter. Now try it using your quirk, without leaving the circle."

Hearing the order she walked up to the circle. Thinking on how to best throw the ball as far away as she possibly could, she decided to use a coil gun, a weaker version of her railgun, but less energy demanding and explainable when asked. Lining up the ball and working the unfamiliar calculations needed in her head, she got ready to fire.

"Teacher, how resistant is the ball."

"No need to worry, it can last anything you throw at it."

She highly doubted that, considering that it would be thrown at around mach1, but this was a quirky world with even quirkier powers. If the ball didn't break down from friction it would probably travel some kilometers away, before succumbing to air resistance.

Preparing her ears for the upcoming sound, she hoped it would work out.

Around the area everyone was watching the first place in the entrance examinations take a weird pose for throwing a ball, balling it in her hand. A sigh escaped her lips as she covered her ears. Then as she flicked her ball-hand towards the sky, a boom resounded, the ball leaving a trail of destruction after being launched. No one understood how what had happened, happened, but were shocked by the display of power. Almost twenty seconds later, the display Aizawa held, showed her results. The ball had almost travelled seven kilometers.

"Huh, it really could withstand that. How was it made? I want some for me!"

She frantically shouted. Her coin supply was running low and getting replacements while not difficult, would not be worth it, the coins only having a limited range. And while she could use other projectiles, they were not portable, while those balls were. They would probably last a kilometer or two while being shot as Railgun bullets, but it would be enough. Not being able to procure the liquids needed for the Liquid Proof Railgun, her ultimate move, made her sad, but someone here would probably to produce it, Momo being the most probable one. Of course it didn't mean she could do, it needing a liquid controller, but the possibility was there.

"Calm down!" Shouting had erupted after her demonstration prompting the teacher to shout at them.

"You say this is awesome, but the one who comes last will be expelled. Try your best."

"WHAAAAAAT?!"

It was understandable that everyone's reactions were like that, knowing that all their hard work to be here could become useless, due to a simple test of quirk capabilities.

"Welcome to the Hero Course of U.A." The teacher said with a crazed glint in his eyes, or perhaps a sadistic one. Everyone got serious after that, judging the threat of expulsion valid.

"This is unfair. The last one will be expelled!?"

"This world is full of unfair things. Rampaging Villains, natural disasters and many more. As a hero your job will be to correct all this unfairness. If you were thinking that the next three years would be plain sailing, I'm sorry to tell you that you will be put through the wringer. That's Plus Ultra. Overcome all the challenges with your strength and get to the top." The sadistic look in his eyes had been replaced with one of challenge and determination.

The speech had managed to rouse up the students, their previous panicked look replaced by one of determination and ambition.

"First challenge: 50 meter dash."

Tenya went up first, and with his speed enhancing quirk "Engine" achieved a time of 3.04 seconds. After wards the rest started. No one reached even close to Tenyas speed, the second fastest till her turn being Bakugo with the quirk "Explosion" clocking in a time of 4.13 seconds. She decided to use her Iron Sand wings again, to clear this course. Of course she limited their speed, fearing that they may be too powerful. As she gave them a light swing, she accelerated to about three percent of the speed of sound. She did the 50 meter run in just 4.85 seconds, coming third in the test. Next was the grip strength test. She didn't have much grip strength compared to the four-armed boy that first without using the Rampage Dress, but the intense training she did during the summer and her top physical conditions meant that she had atypically for a young girl, a grip strength of fifty Kg. Of course compared to the other students it was fairly low, but among the girls it was one of the top scores. Next was the standing long jump. She jumped and magnetically repelled herself from the sand towards the end of Sandbox. Next were the repeated side steps, doing as many of them in ten seconds. She did quite well in that, but knew that the limitation she had put on herself to only use magnetism, severely limited her.

If somebody attacked the school right now she could be forced to reveal her electric powers, due to the fact that outside of the Coilgun, as she called it now, her available non-lethal offensive options were few. She had to find some other attack. Her Iron Sand attacks would work against most people, but someone could probably negate them. Of course she had ample time to think of other applications of her powers, so she didn't worry about it for now, focusing on clearing the courses.

The fifth event was the ball throw. She had done it first, applying her Coilgun, but there were two surprises. One was from Uraraka, who managed to actually throw it far enough that the measuring board displayed infinity. If this were the Misaka of a year ago she would ramble on about how unscientific her quirk was, but right now she had accepted how far-fetched some of them were, having encountered physics defying quirks many times as a Vigilante. The other one was from Izuku. His first throw was horrible due to his quirk being canceled. Only the hero-fanboy seemed to know what had happened.

"Wha- My quirk was cancelled?"

"I erased it. Why did they even let you pass? That entrance exam is irrational, considering that."

"Erased… Only one person could do this! You are the Erasure Hero Eraserhead!"

"Huh, who is he?"

It appeared as if not another kid in the class knew him, but Misaka was surprised to hear his name. While researching the Heroes, he was one of the only she marked to be careful of. That was solely because she didn't know how his erasing Quirk would interact with ESPER powers. If he was like Touma, then she would struggle against him, perhaps even losing. If it only stopped Quirks, then he would be severely outmatched. She hoped it was the second or else she would be in a pickle in a fight against him.

"If you can't control your power and become incapacitated after using it once, how can you hope to become a hero? Saving one person and calling it a day? There won't always be someone there to help afterwards. I've given you your quirk back. Let's get this over with."

Izuku lined up his shot and swung his arm. Just as it seemed that he hadn't activated his quirk at the end of his throw he focused all the power on his fingertip and blasted the ball off, reaching a whopping 800 meters with that throw. Aizawa looked bewildered, and Misaka was too.

'If he had a quirk this powerful why did he hide it? Rather when did he unlock his quirk? I don't think he would let Bakugo bully him then. This must be a recent development, considering his injuries right here. He mustn't have mastered it yet, or else he wouldn't hurt himself when using it. Even then how is his quirk this powerful? If it has this much power in only one year of having it then how much raw power does it have? Perhaps it was passed down to him? I don't think it's possible for quirks to be transferred though. Whatever, I'll ask him about it later.'

She approached the boy wanting to see how he did it, but as she approached she saw his swollen finger.

"Hey Midoriya is you your finger fine."

"Ah, Misaka-san I am fine. I'm just not used to this quirk."

"When did it manifest? I mean if I had such a powerful quirk I wouldn't let Bakugou trample all over me."

"I-I don't know when exactly, but one day I could do this." He stuttered, hoping she wouldn't notice his lie.

"OK, well it's good you are here. You will learn to control your quirk." 'That doesn't seem to be the whole truth considering how unsure he sounded. I won't pressure him though. If he doesn't want to tell me now then so be it. He will come clean someday. '

"Explain yourself Deku!" Just as they finished their talk a familiar shout came, followed by a blonde-boy blasting himself towards them. Just as she got ready to defend a scarf extended and stopped him.

"Stop wasting my time. Get ready for the next events."

The rest of the tests were unremarkable, setting some good performances, while excelling in some others. Midoriya didn't manage to surprise anyone after that, struggling to perform as well as the ball throw.

"Good, we are all finished. I will announce the scores. I will skip the process explanation and just give you the final score. That whole thing about expelling someone was a lie. It was a logical ruse to bring the best out of all of you."

"Whaaaaaa…" almost everyone cried and let out a sigh of relief

"Of course it was a lie. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out." A girl with a spiky ponytail said. If Misaka remembered correctly it was Yaoyorozu, one of the two students who got in through a official recommendation. She didn't like how blunt she sounded but she wasn't wrong. It would not make sense to expel someone, considering that everyone performed well.

As he said that a screen popped up in midair showing the results which were:

1. Misaka Mikoto

2. Momo Yaoyorozu

3. Katsuki Bakugo

21. Izuku Midoriya

Those results didn't surprise anyone. Misaka herself had had the best general results always ranking above the top 10 in all of the tests. Midoryia was also no surprise considering that he only minimally used his quirk on two tests. Misaka knew though that the raw power his quirk had was enormous and learning to control it would make him a fearsome enemy.

Just as they were let free to return home, she saw Aizawa meet someone in her EM Radar. At this point having it was second nature, and it was a reliable scouting tool. Her curiosity getting the better of her she followed him. What she saw surprised her. The teacher was meeting with All Might.

"You saw the potential in Izuku boy, then. I know that last year you expelled that whole class of first years. Such a change of heart doesn't make sense, except if you saw potential in them."

"He doesn't have no chance."

"We agree to disagree."

Then Aizawa left and All Might was left alone.

"Don't dissapoint me Midoryia. You are the one who has inherited my quirk One for All after all."

What she heard shocked her and also confirmed one of her theories. Of course quirk transferal was thought impossible, but all evidence pointed that that was a misconception or perhaps this was the sole quirk that was transferable. What she saw next though left her dumbfounded. As All Might was walking away, smoke came from his back and he shrunk instead becoming a middle aged man. He coughed and blood came out. She knew that staying her anymore would not give her any new info. What she saw though filled in some holes in her theories. First of all she understood why Midoryia injured himself with his quirk, but she also learned why All Might had been making less and less appearances.

Overall it was a productive first school day. Everyone else had left, she having stayed behind to spy on their teacher.

The next day started normally with English classes. She already perfectly knew English, so she was bored out of her mind during the class. At Lunchtime they ate at the Cafeteria. The food was perfect and also dirt cheap. Not that money was a problem for her, but she wouldn't complain. Finally it was time for the afternoon class, the one she had been most expecting. The Basic Hero Training taught by All Might himself.
