They had just come back from lunch. The buzz of the cafeteria followed them in class, everyone continuing their talks from there. It would also be correct to say that the mood of the class was largely due to the lesson they were about to have. Basic Hero Training. The main difference between a normal high school's and U.A High curriculums was in this lesson. It was in this lesson that they trained in order to become the future pillars of society. This year's lesson though had a difference. It would be taught by All Might, the #1 Hero himself.
An enthusiastic shout from the doorway, cut Misaka's musings.
"COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!!!"
"It's really All Might!"
"Wow amazing!"
"I can't believe he is teaching us this year."
Misaka wouldn't lie. Having the #1 Hero as a teacher was exciting. He had more experience fighting crime than almost everybody in the world and his advice would surely be helpful. At the same time she knew his true reasons for being here. Midoryia's quirk had been passed down to him by All Might, and furthermore he had been trained by him. Surely one of his reasons for being here was to oversee his progression.
"Hero Basic Training, the class that will mold you into top class heroes! There is no time to waste! Your activity for today will be BATTLE TRAINING!! And for that you only need one more thing! According to the "Quirk Registry" and your special requests… your COSTUMES!!"
"YEAHHH"
"Change quickly and come to ground Beta!!"
"OK, All Might-sensei."
It was practically shouted by everyone. The whole class had been drawn in by his vibrant personality, and in no time had changed and gone down to the grounds. Misaka in contrast to the others didn't make a suit with a weird gimmick, only wearing a normal school uniform. Of course she had said that she had equipped it herself, but that wasn't true. Her power didn't need any focus or help. What she had was a coin holster and pills that she would use whenever she got a headache. Although not frequent, when she moved big masses of metal with her magnetism or when she made prolonged use of the Rampage Dresses high speed regeneration she got headaches that distracted her. The uniform itself was her old Tokiwadai uniform, repurposed to fit her. During the one year she had been here she had developed body wise and while she was not as big as Shokuhous or Yayorozus, their size was respectable, making her look more like a teenager.
"Shall we begin then, my students?"
She stood out from the rest. While everyone had costumes that enabled or helped them with quirk usage, she just had a school uniform. Perhaps in a future time she would change it, when she found something that helped her powers.
"Sensei this is the entrance exam grounds. Are we going to be performing cityscape maneuvers again?"
"Astute observation Tenya. But no! You are moving to step two! Indoor anti-personnel training. While most villain battles happen in the outdoors, the most heinous villains are much more commonly fought indoors."
It was something Misaka had noticed as a Vigilante. While Villain attacks happened semi-frequently, they were almost never with an ulterior motive, other than for crime's sake. Most if not all of the organized Villain circles she had taken down, always acted with plans and goals and always avoided outdoor confrontation. Perhaps that was why she was not already world famous. Most of her fights were indoors and were typically finished with some well-placed zaps.
"You'll be split into Hero and Villain teams and face each other in two-on-two indoors battles."
Multiple questions were asked immediately after, but opening a cheat sheet All Might answered all of them.
"The Villains that will be hiding indoors have stolen a nuclear weapon. If the heroes want to win they have to capture the villains or secure the weapon. If the villains want to win they must do the reverse. All clear?"
"YES!!! But how will the teams be decided?"
"Of course by drawing lots! Unfortunately due to there being 21 of you one will go alone. Of course one team will go twice, but don't worry about it! It's time to draw!!"
Just as her luck would have not only was she the one who would go alone, but she also was the last team.
Next were the Villain and Hero distribution. The first teams went, Ida and Bakugo vs Midoryia and Uraraka.
"Good. Ida and Bakugo you must adopt a Villains mindset. The rest will watch from a CCTV network."
Principal Pov
In one of the floors of UA a familiar scarfed person stood, along with a short mouse looking person.
"Nedzu was it really necessary for you to interfere with the class selection?"
"Whatever do you mean Shouta?"
"Cut the bull! I know you interfered. Why else would I have twenty one people in my class?"
"You know before that final Exam, the classes were already decided, but the girl's display was quite astounding. I believe you agree. After all, you saw it for yourself, her power. Oh look it's starting."
Shouta turned to see what the principal was showing him and he was shocked. The first match had just started but it had already heated up.
"An interesting kid. Doing so well, despite not having used his quirk at all. Toshinori was right about him."
"What is Bakugo doing? Even worse what is Toshinori doing? His job is to teach my student's not let them kill each other. Bakugo blasted a whole side of the building off in his fight."
"Stop worrying, he's fine. Toshinori knows what he is doing."
"Why is he not using his quirk? Does he want to die?"
"It seems to me that he is strategizing. I think that this shows a side of your students you haven't seen yet. Isn't it exciting?"
The principal said sounding happy.
"It would be if they weren't trying to kill each other."
His voice had gone up a pitch, clearly enraged at the situation unfolding.
"No need to get mad. Look while you were shouting they captured the bomb. Surprisingly he took your advice to heart only using it once, focusing on his hand to defend. And the creative teamwork between the both of them, a good combination of quirks and strategy!"
"Argh, I can't handle you!" Aizawa ended the discussion with a shout. Every time he spoke with the mouse principal he was defeated, but he always learned something new. What a fearsome creature, making better readings of his student's than him. In all honesty, he was happy to see Midoryia succeed. Even if he put out a front of being a strict and cold teacher, he deeply cared for his students. Seeing one of them injured made him sad. That was the main reason he expelled so many students at the start of the year. Hero work was dangerous and he didn't want to put kids in the frontline. All Might had been right in his observations, he merely wished to keep the younger generations safe, although he knew that that was an unrealistic goal. With a dejected sigh he turned back to the screen and watched his students with renewed interest.
1-A Pov
'What was Bakugo thinking? He almost killed Midoryia with that attack right there.'
Outrage was present in everyone's thoughts. Even if they didn't still know each other very well, such a dangerous attack set them off. It was only natural. Knowing someone in your class was prone to violence and using it against you, you would be afraid of them.
"Bakugo let's head back for your grading."
All Might tried his best to calm Bakugo down, and while he was calm now, the almost condescending tone he had used, had made Bakugo's already dead look, look even worse.
'What does he want with me? Can't he see I lost? And to that damn Deku too! Does he think I'm some fool, hiding his quirk from me? It doesn't matter! I will become the strongest. Stronger than Izuku and stronger than All Might too!'
The look of death still marred his face but if one looked into his eyes, they'd see them determined. He had after all made a promise to become the strongest and he would follow through with it. Turning to listen to All Might he was not surprised at the Award Winner.
"The V.I.P of this battle is Tenya!"
"Eh, it's not one of the winners?" A confused frog girl asked
"Yes! Winning the battle doesn't mean you performed well and that is what we are ranking here! That said can anyone tell me why Tenya won it?"
A hand shot up and began talking.
"It was because of Ida's adaptability to the situation. It looked to me like Bakugo focused on Midoryia due to a personal grudge, making him foolishly use destructive attacks indoors. Midoryia made the same mistakes, in his case though wanting to prove something. Uraraka lost focus midway and attacked with a reckless attack, that if the bomb were real we'd all be dead. Ida in contrast adapted to Bakugo's explosivity and correctly counter strategized. He also adopted the Villain Role well."
At that explanation silence reigned in the halls. Slowly All Might answered stifly.
"Yes, that is correct!" 'Said it better than I could.' A sweatdrop fell down All Might's face. He knew the students were capable but that was a perfect explanation.
Momo's explanation wowed the class, and it revealed why she was one of the recommended students.
'As expected from the top recommended student. Answered before I raised my hand.'
Misaka was happy that her class had such an intelligent and blunt person. While in the past she was dishonest with her feelings, she had come to appreciate bluntness for a variety of reasons.
"Time for the next battles!"
The rest of the battles went off without a hitch. It showcased the strength and creativity of each student, the most powerful being Shoto Todoroki with his <
"It's time for the final battle! I've already decided the teams though!" 'It really wasn't me though! That Nedzu and his demands!' The principal had basically forced him to put Misaka alone against the two best performers. It was outrageous, but the girl was stronger than most here and the principal wanted something.
"Misaka as the Villain versus… Todoroki and Yaoyorozu as the Villains! As a handicap Misaka will have 10 minutes to prepare her defenses. Moving the bomb is not allowed but everything else is."
With that they were split for the final time. Misaka had some ideas and began implementing them. She started from the bottom floor up to the top one. She spread Iron Sand in all of the floors, for detection purposes. The building was made out of concrete and had no metal pieces, so her normal sensing was greatly hampered. That was all she would need. The Iron Sand not only allowed her to sense but also to defend. She could spawn small Iron Sand Puppets from where it and use them to attack the assailants. If they managed to get through them, she would be waiting at the top floor, having her own defensed there.
Hero Team Pov
After All Might gave the teams they grouped up and started coming up with strategies.
"What's her quirk?" Shoto asked. He hadn't witnessed all her accomplishments and they hadn't talked yet.
"Apparently it's Magnetism. But her quirk is very powerful. In the entrance exam she destroyed all the robots by lifting them up and throwing them. We have to be careful, she is also quite smart. A dangerous opponent."
'Perhaps I'll be forced to use my hot side to fight her? No never! I'll never use that bastard's fire.'
"Hmm, ok. Can you make something to scout ahead? Charging in without a plan or idea of the buildings sounds like suicide." His inner thoughts were hidden away, his emotions not being betrayed in his stony face.
"Well I could send in a drone with a camera and have it look ahead. Then we will proceed."
"Good."
Several minutes later the ten minute grace period ended, and a drone was sent in the building.
"The coast is clear. We can proceed inside."
"OK move carefully, she might have hidden traps."
It was eerily quiet inside. They had already walked up to the third floor and they still hadn't encountered any resistance or traps. Then as the both of them were about to split in order for one to find her and another to secure the bomb they were suddenly encircled by some golem-looking things.
"What are those?"
Shoto asked, but he remained calm. They would be easy to freeze with his quirk after all.
"They must be some kind of creation from sand. She wants to trap us. Be careful."
Coming into U.A she learned to create multiple weapons, knowing that she would need something to combat different villains. This would be the first time she used them, but she knew that sand melted easily, at 1700 degrees Celsius, and the strongest flamethrower burned at 2000 degrees Celsius.
She easily melted them, but they never seemed to end. Meanwhile Shoto was facing problems.
The golems were vibrating and all of his ice attacks were useless. But he refused to use his father's side to deal with them. Swallowing his pride he turned to Momo to make a request.
"Momo, can you distract them? I'll go face her. When you are finished come help me."
An affirmative sound came from the sweating girl, and Todoroki quickly made his way up the stairs.
Cautiously walking to the floor, he found a set of hallways blocking him. Tired of the maze that the building was, he made an ice blast through the walls.
Moving through them, he found himself in a spacious room. There in the middle stood Misaka and the bomb. She was sure to know where he was due to the commotion, but still he sneaked around.
Hearing a whistling sound he erected an ice wall behind him. Mere inches away from breaking the wall, there were hundreds of now solidified Iron sand needles. A drop of sweat rolled down his face. She had underestimated her and he was paying the price.
Another barrage of Iron Sand needles later he was in a pinch.
'I have to use my fire to win against her! NO! I'll win only with my ice!'
He said that, but the situation was hopeless without his fire. He was immobile and countered by her attacks. He would never yield though. He was thinking on how to attack her and defending from her attacks when they stopped, following a stream of fire from the entrance he had made.
Todoroki had left the floor and Momo continued battling the puppets from iron Sand. No matter how many she destroyed though, they were only increasing. Realizing that it was futile fighting them she instead chose to get away and help him. Creating one experimental jetpack she flew above them and quickly left the floor, hoping they couldn't get up the stairs.
As she barreled in the top floor, she saw a fleeing Todoroki struggle against their opponent. She made a flamethrower again and fired away, fully intent on taking her down.
Misaka Pov
They had finally arrived at the top floor where I was waiting for them. The limits I had imposed on myself were making the fight much harder. If I wanted I could use the small puppets to fire Railguns, but that would:
A. Be destructive
B. Make the Hero's wary of me
I knew that they would not fear me, thinking that with Eraserhead and All Might they could easily capture me, but what I feared the most was surveillance. I had hacked into the databases and knew the staff. The one I was most wary of was the principal. He was an animal with an Intelligence-enhancing quirk, and the one most likely to order that. She wouldn't mind it were it not for her Vigilante activities, but surveillance would impede her.
Turning her attention back to the battle, Shoto and Momo had come up with a plan of attack. While she could fight them head to head she'd prefer to end the battle now and go back home.
Conjuring a fierce storm of Iron Sand and encircling them.
"Heroes! If you want to, live surrender peacefully and walk away."
Inside the storm they were firing attack after attack, but it was to no avail the storm regenerating after every attack.
"Todoroki, I think we should surrender. We can't win."
"Argh, how is she so powerful? I agree."
From inside the storm two sad voices agreed to the surrender.
Letting her tie them with the capture tape they heard the loud voice of All Might declare their loss.
"The Villains win! Come to the exit for the assessment!"
A while later the whole class, Midoryia excluded, had gathered in the exit, eager to listen to All Might.
"Good job everyone. You showed great teamwork and had no serious injuries, apart from Midoryia. All in all it was a splendid performance for your first battles. You will receive personal messages detailing your performance here! Now go back to your classrooms!'
With that they changed and went back to class.
She and some kids waited for Midoryia to come back. While not really worried about his health, she still wanted to know how he was, as a friend.
