Lynn's surgery took long but it was all worth the wait when the surgery turned out successful.
Silver Healthcare hospital was indeed the best for a very important reason, good news was certainly delivered in the end.
Lynn's recovery would take long given that she already had a serious condition before. The doctors said it would take a while for her to wake up.
Currently, Lee was holding Lynn's hand in as she lied on the hospital bed. A bandage was wound around her forehead after the surgery. Lynn's hands felt smooth but lifeless, they didn't give a hint of sensation even when tickled.
Lee saw the bruises on her palm, cheeks and arms that had turned purple. She couldn't help but be scared. This entire situation was beyond her.
It reminded her that Ze Li could be dangerous. He just didn't show it and hid it behind his nonchalance, this made her fear more because she did not know to what extent her father would go.
The hospital bills were being paid by Daisy. Including the medicines and food.
Lee wanted to use her own money but it'll still be insufficient.
The money Fanny sent to her account monthly was a large amount but Lynn's expenses were high too. Given that her condition was serious, she was on life support making it more expensive.
Lee decided that pride wasn't suitable at this point. She obviously couldn't ask for help elsewhere, her only familiar relative was her father and she had no friends except for Daisy.
It isn't that she was too shy to make friends or was too rude to make any, she lacked time.
Friends got during school days mostly needed attention and she couldn't give that because she lacked time, she was mostly busy.
Daisy during these days had formed a bond with her, it was greater than friendship maybe sisterhood now. She was like an older sister to her. Surprisingly, before this, Lee never thought she will ever think this way. The feeling of being indebted to someone without feeling ashamed.
Daisy was the kind of person who helped you and didn't make it a big deal,it was simply help.
One of the reasons Lee accepted the help was also because she knew Daisy's Family owned the hospital. It seemed less of a burden to her friend if she thought of it that way.
A knock at the door brought her back from her thoughts.
She went and opened the door for Mai who had brought food for them. Lee sat next to Mai on the couch beside Lynn's bed.
"I bought you these, " Mai said bringing out the packet of donuts and a cup of milk.
"Thank you Mai," Lee said. During these few hours with the lady, almost a day, the two couldn't avoid talking to each other. It had become necessary unlike at the mansion when they simply exchanged greetings.
As it was rude to talk to someone without acknowledging them, they called each other by their names because they weren't far apart by age.
They had a six year age gap.
"You are welcome, Lee," Mai replied. She knew the little closeness they developed was because of Lee's appreciation for her saving Lynn. Lee still didn't get too close. The girl had guarded herself so well against almost everyone and she couldn't guess why.
Since Mai grew up with an abusive mother, she knew what the look in Lee's eyes meant. She didn't feel safe around anybody.
At close proximity as they ate, the quietness and boredom led to her eyes roaming around. She stared at Lee's face once again clearly. The girl's bluish eyes looked like Ze Li's, the Zang Family members she knew including her son had them. "She also looked like Lynn," she thought.
What was going on with her, the two didn't share similar features. It's just that whenever she stared at Lee now, she saw resemblance of Lynn.
Could it be because she hadn't been sleeping all night and had become delusional? Mai thought .
Lee couldn't pretend not to notice the gaze focused on her and faced Mai.
Mai smiled to ease the situation and Lee smiled back.
Time flew by and the next day Lee went to work.
Daisy wanted to take her there but she refused because it Daisy would have to drive to the hospital to pick her up yet she could simply walk to work.
The company Lee was working at was an event planning company owned by Silver Group of companies. Daisy's family owned the business and she was the boss. Lee didn't really expect that Daisy was this rich but she got to know when Lynn was operated on at their hospital.
Lee just didn't get to meet Daisy's brother who operated on Lynn.
Being the first day of work, Lee didn't start working right away.
Gina who was Daisy's assistant was responsible for her orientation. The company was large so Lee had to know the place more familiarly.
"This over here is my office, you can come look for me anytime," Gina said. She had just taken a very long walk moving around the company with Lee but it didn't bother her. Gina always did her work perfectly.
Before, her boss Daisy Silver told her to personally deal with Lee's orientation and make sure she worked in good conditions. Lee was not to do hard work or experience any bullying because of her age.
There were always jealous people in the company who would have a problem with Lee's rate at success. A young girl who was not yet of legal age and was not even in the University yet was going to be mentored by the boss.
This also shocked Gina. She expected the girl to be arrogant and rich but it was a simple girl. Lee didn't talk much but her behavior was polite. She asked questions when needed and didn't show any arrogance.
Gina even came to the conclusion that the girl may not know her boss's plans for her because of how ignorant she was about almost everything.
Lee's day at work wasn't as stressful as it was when she worked at the cafe doing alot of work. This time she only ran a few errands like delivering documents on behalf of Daisy and Gina to their destinations. She also went to the canteens to get food and drinks for the two.
Lee noticed the looks of several people at the o as she did her work but simply ignored and continued. Things weren't always easy and it was harder to please people.
At four when her shift was done, she was driven back to the hospital by Daisy who wanted to visit Lynn.
