Her stepdaughter.

"Is there something I don't know Daisy?" Lee asked after hearing the questions they directed at Daisy. Why did the lady ask her if she was lying.

Daisy didn't mean to intentionally hide the truth about Lynn. She just felt bad because Lee would be sad if Lynn was taken away by her real family. The circumstances may not even favor them being together again.

When Margaret saw how silent Daisy was,she shifted her attention to the other young lady," How do you know Lynn?"she asked.

Noticing everybody's gaze directed at her, Lee didn't know what to reply.

From the little she heard, this was Lynn's real family. How were they going to react after finding out their relationship?

More so now that she was in this situation because of her father.

"I am Lynn's stepdaughter," she replied. Lee didn't look guilty or ashamed because she knew that she had done no wrong. In fact, she had saved Lynn.

Martin and Margaret didn't like what they just heard. She was the daughter of Zang Ze Li,the man who took away their precious Lynn .

Margaret was going to do something before her brother signalled her to stop with his hands.

"Why are you here?" Martin asked. This young lady certainly wasn't his granddaughter because she was way older than the time between Lynn and Ze Li's marriage. He also heard about Lynn's daughter who passed away.

Martin was angry,it also meant Ze Li had a daughter he hadn't told the public about. His daughter was a stepmother. Did this girl also connive with her father to mistreat his daughter?

"I'm here because I care about her,I kindly ask to stay," Lee replied. It was okay for them to be weary of her because Lynn's life was in danger. She had no choice but to be polite and sincere because they had the upper hand now. Her family had more rights over her now that she couldn't decide for herself so she had to compromise.

"Miss Zang,I'm doctor Silver," Lorenzo introduced himself to Lee as he walked towards her.

He had been talking to Martin when she barged in so he hadn't finished telling the father about how much Lee had helped Lynn.

Daisy smiled slightly because she had realized that her brother was trying to salvage the situation.

Lee shook the doctor's hand after looking at Daisy first to see any go or stop signal. She was angry with Daisy but she knew there must have been a reason why. That's why even now,she still followed Daisy.

Mrs. Zang is going to be okay, there's no need to worry,he reassured her.

"Can we finish our conversation outside,Mr Zang?" he said,I think Daisy also wants to say something to you Aunt Margaret.

The four of them left Lee alone in the room with a nurse because the Lorrie's didn't trust her.

Lee was happy to still be here so she just went to Lynn's bed and held her hand. It was still cold.

Outside the room, Lorenzo was explaining a bit of what happened to Martin.

Martin gradually started getting a good impression about the teenager. Her actions, according to what he was hearing, made her totally different from her father.

Margaret wasn't very convinced by Daisy's explanation because she had missed her niece very much. It was unfair to them that Daisy hid the truth yet they were family, at least that's what she thought.

In the end,she couldn't really do anything more because it was Lorenzo who called them over. Daisy was still young and immature.

Lorenzo's actions had lessened the damage.

Throughout the next few days, Lynn was unconscious but her condition wasn't alarming. There was hope that she would get better with the best treatment.

The plans for her to be transferred and be treated abroad were still ongoing for as long as her condition remained the same. If she didn't improve here, she was going to be transferred abroad.

Silver Hospitals was one of the best so the real reason was obviously not treatment, her family wanted her far away from Ze Li.

That wasn't it, Ze Li was going to face legal charges too. There was no direct evidence yet that pointed to him so they were investigating him.

The Lorrie family was very wealthy too, they were at par with the Zangs'.

It wasn't a minor issue if their daughter was being maltreated and physically abused so by all means they were going to do something about it.

Emily Lynnette Lorrie was also the only successor to everything the Lorrie Family owned because she was the only daughter of the heir, Martin Lorrie and his wife.

Prestige and power were also very much considered because the Lorrie's didn't want the Zangs' to underestimate them if they let it go.

They had to showcase their power while at the same time getting justice for Lynn.

Martin was going through the information he had got about Lee. It made him sad to know how much she had suffered all alone.

Her story added to the anger he felt towards the Zangs'. But was she really innocent. Was it safe to leave her around his daughter? He wasn't very certain yet.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Lee may be good now but what about later, what was the guaranteed that she wouldn't change?

Anyone who had the blood of Nicholae and Victoria flowing through their veins wasn't to be trusted.

"Yes,I'm still at work are you leaving home?" Lee asked Mai on phone.

"I'm already inside the cab," Mai replied.

The two had been living at Lee's home because it was no longer proper for them to sleep in Lynn's room at night with her family around. It could bother them.

Surprisingly, living with Mai wasn't hard for Lee. She was neat and tidy and cooked meals for the both of them. They didn't talk much but were friends now.

Lee had pushed the negative thoughts she felt for Mai at the back of her head. Mysterious couldn't be that bad.

"Okay, we'll meet at the hospital," Lee said before waiting for Mai's reply and hanging up.

"Have you read through the documents?" Daisy asked Lee.

Lee was a bit surprised because she hadn't seen Daisy but then, her boss had a thing for surprises and sneaking up on people.

"I'm almost done, Ms. Silver," she replied.

After you are done, come over so we can go back together,I'm driving, Daisy said.
