Military Disposition

"Mmhmm... What're your names and where are you from? We don't seem to have any of you on file."

...

The Lieutenant goes through a number of basic questions that Michael isn't able to answer, their origin system, country... Or why they were on a previously undiscovered alien ring satellite... Yeah, Michael had looked up earlier and seen it, they were currently on 'a' Halo, he wasn't sure what point in the timeline they currently were, so it was best to keep that kind of information close to his chest.

"Youknow, I REALLY don't like it when I'm lied to. And I'm finding it very hard to believe that three, clean, wealthy, and healthy-looking 'civilians' just managed to find themselves in the center of a warzone... Maybe if you started telling the truth, we could help each other out?"

"Really, I have no idea how we got here... My friends and I were just looking to explore and wandered into that fight. Maybe we could help you guys out if you asked nicely though? As Mercenaries?"

The woman sniffs derisively, "Mercenaries? What do you take us for? The Covenant?... Under United Nations law, the UNSC is required to render aid to any civilian or refugee we find... But, this is not United Nations territory, nor are you United Nations civilians. Your safety is optional..." she says something into her radio and the door opens, revealing a soldier carrying Saeko's sword and Megumin's staff.

"We can start being truthful with these, if you like. What are they?" she inquires, taking the sword and looking it over, marvelling at its design and sharpness.

"What's it look like? A katana... Her name's Kakonoitami." Saeko irritably says, not happy at the woman touching her blade so carelessly.

"Japanese then? Strange, we didn't find anything in or on this indicating that it could deflect plasma weapon projectiles... By rights you should be a pile of ash right now, Miss Busujima."

She sheaths the sword and hands it off, now taking the staff, "And this... A piece of wood with a strange, pretty huge ruby on it. What, are you in costume as a witch or something?" the Lieutenant chuckles, only to pause at Megumin's silence.

"No, really...?" she asks incredulously.

As if taking her disbelief as a challenge, Megumin goes off... "Hmph! You're looking at the most accomplished Arch-Wizard ever to grace the universe! I am Megumin! Master of Fire and Explosions! Wielder of death and familiar of the Void between worlds itself! DESTROYER OF-"

"Megumin, chill..." Michael mutters while palming his face, causing her to shrink as she looks at the Lieutenant's wide eyes.

"Lieutenant, we have some cells ready. We can't have insane people walking around the compound unaccompanied..."

She holds up a hand, "You're telling me that you think you're magical..." she shakes her head and drops the staff on the table the trio were sitting at. "Go on then, show me some magic." she mockingly asks.

Megumin sends an imploring look at Michael, puppy eyes and all... Reluctantly, he gives a small nod with a disappointed sigh to accompany it, not that she acknowledges the last part.

Megumin takes the staff and jabs it at the wall, weak lightning fires out and strikes it causing the Lieutenant and the male soldier to back away in shock.

"What the fuck!? I thought you said that thing was wood!?"

"It is! We scanned it a dozen times!"

"There's no fucking you, do it again!" she angrily shouts, quickly snatching the staff and handing it to the man who shuffled away. She then sends a glare at the trio, "You three stay here, this is a military instalment and we won't tolerate trespassing. Let me warn you one last time... YOU WILL GET SHOT." she exclaims before leaving and slamming the door behind her, a locking sound ringing out afterwards.

...

"That went well... Megumin..." Michael sighs.

"Why are we even sticking around for this? Let's just leave and find the Flood ourselves."

"Do you know nothing about this universe?" Michael chides, "Where humans go, trouble follows. I'm not about to go walking endlessly around this giant space-ring when we could just wait here and have shit come to us instead."

...

"Have you got some snacks at least?" Megumin asks.

"For me and Saeko... You're getting a salad for not getting ahold of yourself..." he says, dropping a number of sweets, beverages, and snacks on the table. He also drops a generator, T.V, and C.D player so they could watch some movies while they wait.

"Nooo, realllly? I asked you for permission first!"

"Rules are rules." he says as he takes a bite out of a Mars bar.

Lieutenant Melissa Mckay storms out of the room and towards the compounds workshop, quickly finding the guys who'd examined the 'devices' and tearing them a new one.

"I don't know where you get your rocks off, but playing a prank with unknown, potentially dangerous technology is not acceptable!" she gestures angrily at the staff that'd been set on a table, "I just watched our prisoner shoot lightning out of that thing! Yet it was a 'Completely harmless lump of wood!?' Scan it again and be serious about it this time, before I have you thrown in a cell this time!"

...

The men shut up and get to work, scanning the staff another dozen times only to come up with nothing. Melissa stares at the results with a twitching eye before looking at the nearby soldier, "Did you properly search the prisoners before bringing them here?"

"A comprehensive pat down as regulated, Lieutenant..."

"Then-... What..." she shakes her head and feels the impending migraine approaching. "Don't say a word to Major Silva, he has better things to concentrate on than some wayward refugees." she angrily says before making her way back to the cells to try and wring more information out of them.
