"Ah, Deku Tree..." Carlos looked at the pink leaves on The Deku Tree, "Wait, so what happened when I was gone?" The Deku Tree smiles, "Well, the Koroks weren't expecting such an under-experienced hero wishing to claim the sword that seals the darkness."
Carlos: 'So that's what those things are... Now knowing about them, it feels like there are multiple eyes just looking at me. It's kinda weird.'
"So to prepare you for the dangers in Hyrule, they set up trials for you..." The Deku Tree looks at the Koroks, "...I suggest speaking to Chio to learn more about the trials." Carlos nods and looks around much more than a glance.
There are multiple paths with glowing beanstalks lighting the paths. There are many puddles in the paths, but Carlos only got is just shoes. And right under the Deku Tree, a Korok is standing on a stump. Carlos walks up to the Korok, "Are you Chio the Korok?"
"Hello, new hero!" The Korok jumps around on the stump. "Ah, well if you haven't heard my name is Carlos." Carlos scratches the back of his head. "Oh right, now about the trials..." Chio stops jumping, "...The first trial, The test of mastery. The second trial, The test of lost wood. And the third trial, The test of the lost pilgrimage."
"These trials were made for you since we originally planned them for Mr. hero..." Chio hops, "...But I know that you can make it through them! I suggest heading to the first trial, it's west, just follow the beanstalks." Carlos checks the device and sees a compass. Carlos turns around and starts heading off in the path.
Carlos stepped on puddles as he walked towards the beanstalk. 'Man if only I had some boots...' Carlos sighed as he followed the beanstalks. there were many pink leaves on the ground, but the pink leaves stopped as he passed under a tree's root. Carlos looks up and sees a larger hollow tree, but the beanstalks continue further. Carlos nods as he continues
after a while of walking, Carlos finds a Korok sitting on a small flat rock. Behind the Korok, there's a wooden sword, wooden shield, and a bow leaning on a log. The handle of the sword looked like wrapped vines and the guard looked like thorns, the blade had some chips of it struck out, but it looked useable.
The shield had thorny vines on each side of the shield, and it had many swirls painted on the shield. like the sword, the shield had many bruises on it, but it still looks useable. The bow, on the other hand, looked brand new, with no bruises, no chips of it gone.
The bow had well done carved upper and lower limb and ended with a swirl at the grip. The bowstring was masterfully tied to each limb, with two leaves carved on the upper limb. The grip had sewn cloth on it, and the grip ended with swirls at each end. On closer exception, the grip and the limbs weren't traditionally together, instead, the grip extended under the limbs and the swirls masked it that they were together.
"Ah, you're here..." The Korok turned to Carlos as he walked closer to the Korok. Carlos looked around. The fog picked up making it hard to see any further. There were fences made in front of the log. And the fog prevented Carlos to see the end of the hollow tree.
"So is there a trial here for me?" Carlos eyes the equipment. "There sure is, but it looks like that you already have some equipment." The Korok glanced at the sword and shield that Carlos has. "Ah is that bad?" Carlos looked at his sword and shield.
"No, but you can still have this!" The Korok passes the bow to Carlos. Carlos looks at the bow. 'This is pretty nice, although...' "...I don't know how to use a bow." Carlos didn't realize that he spoke. "Wait you don't?!" The Korok jumped which makes Carlos jolt. 'Oh, I said that out loud...'
"Well, it's mostly because I only have experience with a sword." Carlos scratches the back of his head. "Then that's the point for this trial..." The Korok points at the bow, "...You will learn how to use a bow!" 'I don't think that's how mastery works, since back in my world, people had to devote themselves to a weapon and learn the ways with that weapon. But I guess this world is different.'
"Alright, are you ready? I'm guessing that it might hurt." The Korok points past the hollow tree. Carlos nods and puts the bow on the scabbard. "Wait, you forgot arrows!" The Korok gives Carlos a quiver having twenty-five arrows in it. 'Then why let me leave before I get the arrows for the bow?'
Carlos quickly puts the quiver on his belt rather than on the belt that has the scabbard. Carlos counts the arrows and nods at the Korok. He walks past the fence and looks at the few trees that are visible through the fog. "GO!" The Korok jumps.
Carlos runs through the hollow tree and meets with the grass. 'So what's to master? How fast I could do this?' Carlos looks around and spots a figure hanging on a branch of a tree. Carlos takes out the bow and takes out an arrow. He draws it and aims at the figure while his arms are wobbling. He fires the arrow, but 2 more arrows appear from the bow, the 1st arrow didn't hit, but the other 2 hit the figure.
'What was that? No bow can shoot 2 other arrows. How did it do that?!' Carlos looks at the bow as the figure gives off a screech. 'Maybe since it fires 2 more, there's more chances of me hitting the enemies.' Carlos cautiously walks through the grass.
But then a brown blur flies past him. Carlos puts the bow away and unsheaths the sword and takes out the shield. The blur hits the ground but starts flying again. 'Is that a bat?' Carlos looks at the blur. It did look like a bat, but it had a giant eye in the middle and three fangs under its body.
'Then this is my first enemy encounter...'
