Trial 2: The Lost Pilgrimage

Carlos opened his eyes and he's back at the structure's entrance. 'Now do I have to go through the trial again?' Carlos looks over at the thick mud. "Oh, there you are!" A Korok flying on a leaf goes down and hovers on a rock. "I was supposed to congratulate you, but you just disappeared in that thing."

"Ah, sorry." Carlos looks back at the structure. "Anyway, let's go back." The Korok waves at Carlos. "Wait how? Can you even carry me?" Carlos glances at the leaf. "Don't worry, I can handle it!" The Korok nods. Carlos shrugs and grabs onto the Korok. "Now hold on tight!" The Korok flies away at a pretty fast speed and the only thing hearable was Carlos' yelp.

After a few minutes, the Korok lands back on the entrance of the trial. Carlos takes deep breaths, 'Didn't know that Koroks can fly pretty fast... And so high!' "Alright, I'm guessing I should go to the other trials, right?" Carlos looks at the Korok. The Korok nods and Carlos heads off.

"I was going to say that he wouldn't make it if he didn't have that sword." The Korok looks at the equipment on the log. "But what was that he had? It didn't feel normal..."

Carlos goes through a hollow tree. The fog picks up more as Carlos follows the path. 'Man over here is where the fog's the worse... I can barely see anything.' Carlos squints and he spots a Korok. Carlos walks up to the Korok. "Oh! You! You're gonna do the trials, yes yes?" The Korok quickly spun around which made Carlos flinch. "Uh... Yep." Carlos nods.

"I knew it! I'd like to ask you a favor, then!" The Korok jumps. "What is it?" Carlos puts his hands on his belt. "My little Oaki just now set off to do the trial..." The Korok looks down, "Normally I'd go along too, but Oaki insisted on going alone. I let Oaki go, but..." The Korok looks up at Carlos, "...Well I'm just getting worried!"

"Could you please follow Oaki without being seen? I want to be sure nothing bad happens." The Korok whines. "Don't worry, I'm sure he's not that scared if he's going alone." Carlos nods and walks off towards a Korok standing in the middle of the path. The Korok seemed to be shaking like a leaf.

'Nevermind, I'm guessing that's Oaki the Korok...' Carlos rolls on the grass, '...If I was a little bit taller, then I would've been spotted.' Carlos crawled closer to Oaki until he begins to move, "The trial is this way... Right?"

'Dang it! I won't be able to keep up if I just crawl on the ground.' Carlos crouches and slowly follows Oaki. Carlos quickens his pace but Oaki stops which also makes him stop dead in his tracks. "What was that?" Oaki looks around but after a few seconds continues walking. 'Nearly got caught... Man, is this the only time that my height is my weakness?'

"Everything is A-OK!" Oaki walks past through a tree. 'It's not been just a minute, but it feels like my legs are getting numb...' Carlos quietly groans, but notices some flowers. The flowers are glowing blue. 'Could it be that these flowers emit some light in the night?' Carlos grabs one of the flowers, '...And they're huge!'

'Ah right, the stealth mission. Must not quit just yet!' Carlos grabs the other flower and hurries along, but hears from Oaki, "I remember this tree!" Carlos rolls and hides behind a tree. 'Maybe I shouldn't roll that fast...' Carlos holds himself from throwing up.

But as Carlos looks back, Oaki isn't anywhere to be seen. 'Huh? Where did he go?' Carlos snaps on a stick. "Wah!" Oaki jumps and covers his head. 'Wait, did he just make a noise just by moving? Why didn't I think of that?!' Carlos quietly facepalm.

'Alright, if I lose him visually, then at least I can hear him...' Carlos flexes his legs, '...I just hope that he can make it before I give out.' Carlos crouches again and follows Oaki as he continues walking. After passing under two trees Oaki stops and looks around, "This is the right way."

Carlos flinches and hides behind a tree before Oaki spots him. 'Great, now he's beginning to look around... I'm hoping that the last trial isn't this hard.' Oaki nods and continues. Two sticks fell, which made Oaki slowly walk up to them. 'Wait, if he turns around, I'm done!'

Carlos grabs one of the sticks and throws it forward. "Ghost!" Oaki runs toward a hollow tree. 'Thank goodness there's a hollow tree lying in here...' Carlos crawls and follows Oaki. Oaki runs in the hollow tree and looks back, only to see the grass shaking.

"Is that... Following me?" Oaki froze as the thing rustled the grass. "Wah! It's after me!" Oaki runs to the other side of the hollow tree. 'Dang, is he that scared of something crawling after him?' Carlos sighs as he continues.

Oaki stops at a tree and looks back, "Is it gone?" Oaki sighs, "It was probably a squirrel." Oaki walks on. 'How would a squirrel move that slow?' Carlos pushes himself up and crouches. 'That reminds me, I haven't eaten anything since I appeared in Hyrule... And I'm feeling that I haven't eaten in days ever since I entered the structures.' Carlos follows Oaki as his belly growls.

As Oaki nears a tree, a wolf notices Oaki and howls. "Ah! It's after me!" Oaki cowers as he covers his head. Carlos takes out the bow and arrow and fires the arrow at the wolf. The first arrow hit and the wolf ran away. 'Hmm... I think I'm getting better with a bow.' Carlos puts the bow away. Oaki looks around to find the wolf running away.

Oaki walks past some trees and spots something glowing orange. "There's the Shrine!" Oaki jumps and runs towards the structure. 'So that's what they're called, I was going to call them glowing hubs.' Carlos follows Oaki.

Oaki stands at a flower patch that surrounds the Shrine, "Woo! I finally made it!" Carlos stands up and walks up to Oaki. "Yay! I made it! I finished the trial!" Oaki waves his arms around. But then Oaki quickly turns around, "Wha? Who's there?"

"I'm Carlos." Carlos waves his hand at Oaki. "Guess what Carlos! I did the trial all by myself! Aren't I brave?" Oaki jumps happily. 'Maybe if you wouldn't scream that much...' "Yep! And I'm here for that." Carlos points to the Shrine. "Right, The Deku Tree told me that you were going in these!" Oaki looks at the Shrine.

Carlos nods as he walks up to the pedestal. Carlos swipes the Slate on the pedestal and the Shrine glows blue and the doors swing open. Carlos enters and stands on the platform and is covered in blue light. "Good luck!"
