Something wet lands on my cheek. I turn away. More of the wet drops onto the back of my neck and the surrounding vegetation.
Is it… raining?
Am I outside?
My eyes slowly open, blinking away the light of the sun through the clouds.
My everything hurts. Limbs like stone, head like the inside of a wine barrel… gods, what happened?
I look behind me, at what’s left of the facility.
It looks so unassuming, like a typical school you’d find in Elvira. Or anywhere with a wolf population. I bet anyone passing by wouldn’t have thought anything was off about it.
The only difference is the evidence of fire surrounding certain windows and other openings.
Well, there’s no point in staying here now.
As I pull myself up, I feel something at the base of my spine. Looking down, I see a long black tail, covered in scales.
Something tells me I should not be calm, and yet I am.
This is my tail. I’d be stupid to be scared.
