Advancing To The Second Year (2)

'System, how many stat and skill points do I have?' Aiden asked while looking at Zoe with an expressionless face.

< You have 15 stat points and 52 skill points, host. >

'Put 10 stat points in agility and 5 in dexterity.'

[ Agility: 52 --> 62

Dexterity: 56 --> 61 ]

'System, max out the shadow beam skill.'

[ Shadow Beam (Maxed Skill)

(50 EE)

---

- Shoots out a laser of shadow/s from the fist

- Will deal 4x damage depending on the dexterity stat

Range: 17 meters ]

According to the system, the shadow beam skill couldn't be leveled up any further. This was because the skill had been created by Aiden and could only shoot shadow out from the fist.

To shoot shadow beam out of all organs of his body, Aiden would have to master them all. This meant that Aiden could even fight people with his pants pulled down.

< Host, do you think you will win this battle. After all, you do not know how powerful she is. >

'System, you don't need to worry about that.' Aiden reassured the system before looking Zoe directly in the eyes.

"So, have you learned any new skills after our last battle in the forest?" Zoe asked with a smile as Aiden nodded.

"You will get to see that once we battle. Oh, by the way, I know that you don't know how to do silent skill or spell casting." Aiden suddenly grinned as he saw Zoe's confidence deter a little.

In this world, spell users and skill users had major differences. A skill could mostly be activated by just saying or thinking about the skill name.

But a spell on the other hand would have to be first chanted and then the uservwould have to take the name of the spell.

Otherwise, the spell won't activate.

This was because the usage of a skill came from a person's own power while a spell borrowed the power of another being.

Just like how Aiden had used the power of lightning by making a chant while he had been fighting for the chance to get reincarnated.

Spell users were called spell mages while skill users were called skill mages.

But there were very few people who either only used spells or only used skills. So most of the time, skill and spell users were called mages unless they specified that they didn't use either spells or skills.

That was all what Aiden had learned in his latest classes. Kisuke had said that after the exams, he would tell them about another category of spell and skill users before they would go to their second year.

'But for now, I have to defeat her.' Aiden thought as he noticed that all the oath students had already moved several meters back.

"The match will only end if any one of you is knocked out, concedes or I think that you can't fight anymore. You might think that the last option might lead to cheating but trust me, that won't happen." Kisuke explained as he raised his right hand in the air.

"As soon as you hear a banging sound, your match will start." Kisuke added as Aiden and Zoe got into battle positions.

Both of them quickly removed their coats since they were obstructing their movement. Their gazes locked at Will who sighed and moved forward.

"Thank you Will and also, thank you for telling me that earlier." Aiden whispered as Will nodded and took his coat. He then took Zoe's coat and stepped back with the other children.

*Bang!*

Kisuke had used his air element to create a banging sound as both Zoe and Aiden stood still. They were waiting for the other to make a move and then they would counter it with their own move.

But while waiting, Aiden suddenly felt chills running against his back. He quickly saw that Zoe was muttering something under her breath.

'Will it be a spell or is she deliberately trying to force me to move?'

One side effect of being a little smarter person was that Aiden tended to overthink about many things.

If only he was like a normal half-brain-dead protagonist who would charge straight ahead with his powers running around wild.

< Why don't you just do that host? >

'You are right system. I should just do that.' Aiden then used his shadow walk and immediately appeared behind Zoe.

"Checkmate." She suddenly grinned as Aiden mentally sighed.

'And that is why I hate being a half-brain-dead person.' He thought and suddenly felt all four of his limbs going numb.

[ Host has been affected by the paralysis status. ]

A system notification popped up in front of Aiden's face as he smiled.

Even though his limbs were completely numb, he could still move from one place to another.

'Paralysis is probably the least effective curse I could have been hit with.' Aiden sighed in relief as he could still move.

If a dark element user knew the correct spell or skill, he or she could inflict the other person with a curse. Though only high-level users could inflict a specified curse.

Otherwise, a random curse was placed on the other person.

If Aiden had gotten inflicted with poison, blindness, or dysentery, there would have been a few problems. But for now, he could somehow manage.

"O the watcher of darkness who stares at this place from the void. Make this darkness last a little longer and engulf everyone in it!" Zoe chanted as Kisuke suddenly narrowed his eyes.

"I feel inferior to these kids…" He sighed as Zoe finished the chant with the name of the spell.

"Void of Darkness."

Aiden's vision suddenly blacked out for a few seconds as everything around him went black. But after a few minutes, Aiden realized that the place he was standing in was entirely black in color.

[ The host has entered the pseudo domain: Void of Darkness (Pseudo)

All stats have been decreased by 20% ]

'Just when I was getting used to my environment.' Aiden sighed as he looked around himself.

There were no shadows anywhere which meant that Aiden's shadow skills were useless. That was unless he found a way to get some shadows.

'Good thing I created these in advance.'

Aiden then started emptying his pockets.
