The princess's wrath (2)

Ariadne stood face to face with her husband. Looking at him in such close proximity made her disgusted. It was a mistake that she was going to correct.

"I won't beat around the bush and be out with it," she said. Draxan gulped. Sweat trickled down his back. The princess's cold temperament was giving him chills, he wouldn't blame her if she shouted at him.

"For what I said..."

"I am speaking," Ariadne uttered in a raised voice that demanded him to stop talking. "When I speak to you, you will listen without interrupting me. And you will only speak when asked to speak, because quite frankly I am not interested in what comes out of your mouth," she said anger oozing out of every word that she spoke.

Draxan held back his apology. Since he was the one in the wrong, he didn't feel the need to upset the princess even more and did as she said to give her time to cool off.

"You have made it clear that you want me to treat you as my equal," she spoke. Draxan held his breath, he expected her to mock his desires and make him feel inferior to her.

"I will grant you a chance to prove yourself," the princess added. Draxan's mouth opened wide with surprise. It was beyond his surprise that the Princess would allow him such a great opportunity.

The deal was too good and hence he gave it a second thought. He deduced in his mind that the princess wanted only to raise his hopes up only to crush them. She was a royal and she of all people would never condone the idea of equality between men and women.

"What is the..."

"I wasn't done speaking," she interrupted him. She spoke in her authoritative cold crown princess tone of voice. The voice that she uses with the rest of the world.

She had made up her mind to stop giving him importance. His words had hurt her because she had given him the power to hurt her and this was her taking that power back. She was done being someone that he could affect.

From that moment moving forward, she decided to treat him like what he was. Someone not to be spared her precious time and resources.

"You will be given a seat at my council and also receive everything that comes with the title," she said.

Draxan was soeechless. His heart trembled with freight, the title that the princess spoke of giving him was so powerful that he didn't know if he could do it.

"You will be the head of the royal historians," she uttered coldly. Draxan stumbled back, the royal historians were the people who recorded the history of the royal palace. And being in charge of them meant that he would have to forsee the royal history of Acceradia.

The two titles would give so much power in the palace. He would be close to the power that the duke of the kingdom had.

"You will undergo training in the royal training grounds under my second in command Izora. And as of now you will be declared the head of my security detail," she announced to him.

The princess's personal army was the second best following the queen's. Being their leader meant being granted the title of a general. His hands shivered, all the titles being bestowed on him required a lot of hard work and experience which he had none.

"You will be given a seat in the queen's table and make decisions that concern the kingdom. Your titles, Head of the royal historians, general of the red sparrows, council member of the princess and the queen's advisor," she listed it out for him.

Draxan was filled with disbelief. He was left tongue tied after the princess finished talking. At first his heart was exited but at that moment he was shaken to the core. The responsibilities on his shoulders was too heavy.

He was given the chance to stand side by side with women and make important decisions concerning his kingdom. The chance that he had always hoped for was there before him and he couldn't rejoice.

"And my personal favourite," the princess said. Draxan raised his head hearing that she wasn't done.

"From now on, you are my second in command. That means that when I am not around, all my duties fall to you," she said calmly. "Congratulations, I hope you won't disappoint me," she added with a smirk on her face.
