The princess's wrath (3)

Ariadne watched the horror in Draxan's face. She was unmoved by it, she was the Queen of burning bridges and he was not someone she wanted to entertain anymore.

"You and I will live separately from now on," she went on to say. She could care less about the whispers that would come of her decision. She would bear all of it as long as she didn't have to look at the man before her every morning when she woke and night when she retired for the day.

"I am sorry," Draxan bowed his head to her and said. He was thinking that she was only granting her those titles to prove a point to him. His thoughts were right but not fully. She just didn't want him to be sorry for what he said to her, she wanted him to understand that what a woman can do. A man can never try to attempt.

"You should not go through the trouble as I will be the one to leave," she added. She ignored his apology as thought she didn't hear it.

To her, it was just stupid words spoken with no meaning. It made no difference to her at all. She made the first move and turned around to walk out of the room. She had said all that she came to say.

She reached for the door to open it and halted. From her back, hands had wrapped around her waist. She blinked her eyes and stared into the distance. The face that she had put on a while back crumbled to the warmth of the hug.

She was sensitive emotionally and had never had someone hug her when she was down. Even though she put on a cold face, the fact was that she was hurt. His words had pierced though her heart and wounded her deeply.

She couldn't think, she didn't know how to react to the hug. Being a princess and the crown princess at that, she had always had to bottled up her feeling and act strong. She was never to show her weak side to people, that is the teaching that she had growing up.

As such, she was never one to be embraced even when all she needed was a comforting hug to take away the pains of her lonely nights.

She stayed still and enjoyed the warmth the hug brought to her. Her eyes moistened threatening to let more tears flow.

"And you, I'm sure that the queen must be proud to have raised a broken and emotionally damaged girl such as yourself," the words rang in her ears.

She blinked away her tears and gritted her teeth. She reached her hands and removed Draxan's hands from her waist. She took a step forward and looked back at him.

"You will understand the meaning of being broken soon enough," she threatened.

Draxan's lips parted recalling what he said to her. He regretted that the words ever came out of his mouth but it did. And as it was words, once uttered then no amount of sorry could take it back.

The tongue was a poison that attacked without mercy. Whose attack was not curable and sadly he was going to face the wrath of his actions. He rather missed the always angry princess, she never retaliated harshly to him.But the calm and composed princess meant business.

"I will accept whatever punishment you give me. If it means getting you to forgive me," he said honestly to her. Ariadne watched him and scoffed.

Draxan closed his eyes and thought. He wanted to get to know the princess and what made her the way she was, he wished to know her and befriend her. With that in mind, he cheered himself up, he would do his job well and in the process try to win over the princess's heart.

When he hugged her, he felt the way she reacted to him.She clearly was someone who yearned for such things, with the life she lived. It was hard for her to get a hug.

"I have a request," he stated before the princess could match off.

Ariadne shot her gaze at him curiously. He had given him what he had always wanted and he seemed to want more. She folded her hands before her chest and looked at him.

"Speak," she ordered.
