A fool

Princess Ariadne asked Draxan to go on ahead when she received news of the guests arrival. She needed to do last minute check of everything before she went to welcome them.

As soon as Draxan left the room, she dropped on the bed with her hand to her chest. Her body was all fuzzy, her heart was beating so loud. The kiss that she had received a while back still fresh in her mind.

She could not express in words what she was feeling. Her cheeks flushed thinking of how weird that moment felt. It was unexpected for her to feel complete because of a man. Especially one who treated her as terrible as Draxan did.

"It meant nothing," she said to herself. Even that was not enough to take her mind off the kiss. She truly wished their was more to the kiss than just a deal.

She got up after calming her heart. She straightened her dress and walked slowly out of the room. Her knees were still weak but she managed to steady her steps.

The closer she got to the entrance, the faster her heart raced. She put on her expressionless face but a faint blush could still be seen in her cheeks.

She couldn't stop smiling, climbing down the stairs. She had a feeling that it was going to be a beautiful day. After a long time, she finally had a reason to be happy, she had a chance to feel warm and not have to push people away.

"My husband," she uttered and laughed. It felt weird to call Draxan with that title but she didn't despise the idea so much.

The way he held when she was about to fall assured her that she wasn't alone. She had someone to prevent her from falling and help pick her up when she fell.

She found that she wasn't afraid anymore, luck had given her a partner that would not leave her hand. She made her way to the entrance of the palace and halted.

She wanted to see how Draxan spoke with the guests. She sneaked a peek at them, her smile dropped. Draxan stood before the Princess and prince with Kethra by his side.

"Isn't the princess nice. To have granted all this title to her new husband?" Kethra stated out loud.

"Everyone knows that a man's job stays within the limits of a house. Only a fool would entrust a woman's job to a man," the princess of Nemar said.

"Do you dare to call the crown princess a fool?" Kethra asked amused.

Ariadne swallowed the lump in her throat. She pinched herself for her stupidity. She found herself stupid for putting too much into every action that Draxan did.

She took a moment to get her emotions in check. She stepped forward and made her presence known. "I will cut off your tongue if you dare call me a fool again," she threatened.

She made her way to them with a devious smile on her lips. "Say the word princess and I will rid of the poison inside your mouth," she added sending shivers down the princess's spine.

"Princess Ariadne," princess Andrella of Nemar said. "You look beautiful," she complimented.

"Only a fool would compliment me after insulting me," Ariadne spoke out calling her out on her statement. She stood next to Kethra and glared daggers at the girl before her. "I am the future queen of Acceradia, are you sure that it is okay for you to make an enemy of me?" She questioned softly.

Her question was a clear threat, she should mind her words in Acceradia or it might cost her and her kingdom when Ariadne takes the throne.

"Why are you..."

"You are a guest here. Act like one, try to teach me how to live my life and you will forever be sorry," she uttered.

Before the Princess could put in another word, she turned around faced her stepsister. Her eyes were anything but kind.

"Talking against the crown princess is a crime and no one is above the law," she started to say. "Not even a half princess as pretty as you,' she added.

She clapped her hands twice in the air and the guards came to her. They stood in waiting for her orders.

"Place princess Kethra under house arrest until further notice," she ordered.

Kethra was not just surprised but shocked at the nerve of the princess to punish her. What she didn't know was the fact that Ariadne was done being lenient with her just because she was a princess.

"What are you trying to us Ariadne. That you are powerful, by punishing the princess," Andrella inquired.

"If you want a piece of me then ask, I'll serve you right here with hesitation and I don't need a reservation to do that," she let out.
