Chapter 110: Benji

BENJI PULLED UP TO the curb and peered at the travelers armed with suitcases. Late July was a god-awful time of year in Texas with current temperatures well over a hundred each and every day. He was pretty damn jealous of Garth for getting away for two whole weeks.

Scarlett flung her arm out at the window. "There he is."

The crowd seemed to part for a moment.

"Fuck me." Benji chuckled.

He'd never thought he'd see the day when his brother wore anything but starched jeans and boots. Benji hadn't been certain his brother even owned a pair of swim trunks when they dropped Garth off at the airport. The sight of him in shorts, flip-flops and a floral print button down over a white T-shirt was out of some strange, Twilight Zone world.

"You know Noemi is behind that look." Scarlett snickered, her hands covering her mouth.

"I want to know what bet he lost." Benji pushed his baseball cap up on his head.

Garth reached the truck and grasped the door handle, but it wasn't unlocked.
