The person I wanted to see

Nancy's POV

"I don't know what happened that day, believe me. I will never think of betraying you, not for anything in this world, but -" she trailed off as I placed a gentle hand on her lips to silence her.

"I know," I whispered.

"But -" she hissed.

"No buts. You don't have to say it. I understand what happened and I don't blame you. I blame myself. I should have come out and talked to you at least once. Maybe if I had, what happened wouldn't have happened," I said, regret lacing my words.

"Nancy, we couldn't have stopped it. But I really want you to know -" she began again, but I cut her off.

"You don't have to say it. Besides, it's all in the past now. I'm just glad we have this chance to be together again like we used to," I said, a sad smile tugging at my lips.

"Well, not exactly like before, because I'm stuck in the body of a little girl," she joked.

"Come on, it's not that bad. I'm just older," I joked back.
