A grand plan

An: pls ready chapter 157, it's the chapter I skipped. thank you very much!

Exiting the cafeteria we reached the stadium again and headed to the main castle door. Even though the cafeteria was in a certain part of the castle, Jenna told me that it was in a corner and far away from all the classrooms.

She also said in passing that there were more than ten teachers for any one subject. Dozens of experts in their field. After all, America was a massive place and thousands of kids attended at any one time. one teacher was far from enough.

That was an interesting concept, since if that was really the case, then that would mean that magical aptitude between children in America was higher than in England where only several hundred were attending magical education. Enough for one teacher to handle.

There might be some differences when it came to the environment, diet, or genetic mutations that enhance the likelihood of magical abilities. It was a very intriguing situation that didn't seem to have an explanation for it. But it explained why everything needed to be so dam huge here. There was simply no way around it, there were too many students to house.

As we walked through the door, a massive hall came into view. Made of glossy black stone like the one in the English ministry. The floor had a carpet to it, and in the corners, massive knights made of stone with golden swords stood guard. I instantly became entranced at the sight of them and had to take a closer look.

But before I could, Percival dragged me back, "no time for sight seeing man, if we don't hurry, the class will start before we get there." He said seriously. I was a little disappointed but understood it was for the best. I would make sure to study the engravings on the statues later. They seemed ancient. Far beyond the scope of the school's supposed age. There was certainly something behind that.

We went up a row of stairs and appeared at a massive intersection. The ceiling was at least 20-30 meters up. Pillars held it up made of marble, it looked like a shrine. In the middle, the statue of a woman, a man, and two kids could be seen made of pure gold.

"These are the founders of the school. Although we came upon the statue of First headmistress Isolt, that was a very old one and the first created to commemorate her achievements. This one was made much later in order to commemorate the other three. After all, they were a family." Jenna explained.

What I found interesting was Isolts two daughters weren't mentioned. Although I knew that Martha Stewart was a non-Maj I was surprised that she wasn't even mentioned.

Was it a personal choice? She would eventually marry the non-magical brother of a friend from a Pocomtuc tribe, and live her life as a No-Maj. A hard decision I would imagine when you had knowledge of the magical world.

Then there was Rionach Stewart who never married or had children. As rumour had it that she had the ability to speak Parseltongue like her ancestor Salazar Slytherin and did not want his powers to be passed down any further. A stupid decision since there was still remains of the gaunt family back in England.

I never understood her decision. What's wrong with having such an amazing ability? A bit nonsensical, but I didn't really care.

I then looked at the statues, they were each pointing towards one of the three massive corridors.

"They each point to a certain district of the castle. Going north, as pointed out by Vice headmaster Webster Boot's statue, goes towards the science and math district including potions, alchemy, runes and Arithmancy, ect.

To the east, as pointed out by vice headmaster Chadwick Boot, It heads in the adventure district where topography, history, magical beast and defence against the dark arts is held. It goes on, but you get the point, as the founder of the Thunderbird house, Vice headmaster Chadwick loved to travel, so he made sure to include every subject that might facilitate that for future students.

To the west, as pointed out by headmaster James's statue, goes towards the healing facilities such as the infirmary, Herbology, divination, astrology, non-Maj studies and music. The same thing as prior there are more classes but like all the other districts, they are electives, so you won't be exposed to much if any of it while you study here." She explained.

I then looked at Isolt's figure, who was pointing straight up towards the roof.

"Where does she lead to?" I asked.

Percival smiled slightly, "To the arena," he said.

"I don't understand, I thought the arena was somewhere different. Why is it on the second floor?" I asked in confusion.

Everyone paused and looked at each other before laughing. Even John who was still being an annoying prick was laughing along with the others.

"Am I missing something?" I asked with a frown. Everyone nodded with tears in their eyes from laughing too hard.

Percival pointed upwards, "that's where the arena is. It's in the sky above the school." He said before bursting into another wave of laughter.

But I was stunned speechless, I raised my head in utter disbelief, how could then have an arena floating in the sky? That was too much. Right Drak, Achlys?

[Hm- HAHAHA… *cough* hahaha… AHEM! Yes, seems very over the top… PFFFFT!] he said between laughs. What an utter prick. I didn't even bother to ask Achlys since that idiot was probably already half-dead from laughing too much.

What a savage school. They even have a floating building. I shuddered at the thought. But then an idea so grand and ridiculous that even the two dragons stopped laughing. They went completely quiet at my idea. The mere thought of it was too much for them to even comprehend or imagine.

[You're absolutely, unequivocally, clinically insane if you think that could actually be achieved.] Drak said in disbelief.

{Damn, it's hard for me to be shocked these days. After all, I have seen and heard almost anything and everything imaginable. But this, this is too much. If you can achieve this, you might just be able to put your name down as the most insane, crazy wizard of all time. But your achievement will never be forgotten. I say give it a shot mate.}

My mind was turning at a fast pace as a new goal was forming in my mind. one that will probably take several years to achieve maybe even decades. But the end result would be something never before seen in the magical world.

'Maybe… this is what the thunderbird meant...'
