second floor cleared

BOOOM!

The ground cracked open and shifted apart as chunks of gravel and dirt took to the sky as giant vines and tree's emerged from the ground. It continued to grow as it rushed forward. Immensely sharp and destructive vines and trees shot forward as if wanting to devour everything in its path. But the creepy thing was the black flames that acted like leaves on the trees and vines along the black bark. It was like a dead forest that was recently charred after a blazing fire.

Instantly the turtled was devoured and died without even being able to move. The forest receded but didn't disappear as it elevated me to a higher position. Like a pedestal made of wood and leaves. But it burned with black flames and gave off an aura of destruction.

The second beast took to the field shortly after. The cinder eagle. I grinned at the sight. I raised my hand as it covered the eagle's image before clenching my hand. Instantly, dozens of charred vines that glowed red through the cracks shot out of the ground beneath the eagle before wrapping around it creating a ball of wood.

I then smashed my fist into the elevated wooden stage beneath my feet as it cracked slightly.

BOOOM!

The sphere of wood connected by vines spun slightly before barrelling towards the ground as a crater formed from the impact. The dissipating image of the bird could soon be seen. This was overkill for sure, but I was having the time of my life trying out new things.

The third monster appeared soon after. An ape that stood at 3 meters tall, with pale blue hair and white eyes. A chilling wind emanated from its body.

I snapped my fingers and the wooden stage beneath my feet descended back into the ground along with the charred forest. There was only a bare black land now that covered half the field.

I smiled and applied 5% of herculean strength to myself. I instantly grew to 7 feet as muscled bulged on my body. A sense of infinite strength coursed through my body that was currently being heavily suppressed.

The ape seemed to realise what was going on and frowned before skipping into a full-speed run as small icicles of ice came my way. The ape wasn't particularly fast but wasn't slow either. I stood there patiently and waited for the attack. I further suppressed my power to match that of the ape.

I decided to enjoy the battle rather than end it so quickly like the others. I had to make this entertaining for myself somehow. Nuking the beasts constantly would get dull and boring eventually.

So, with that thought in mind, I met the ape's fist with one of my own. As soon as we made contact a small wave of air burst out as frost started to cover my arm. I looked at it in surprise.

'Interesting, so physical contact will initiate a freezing status. Hmm, it doesn't seem to be too cold though. Not enough to cause frostbite, but enough to slow my arm speed due to the cold. Maybe I could use that later on.' I thought to myself as I dissipated the ice in my body by increasing my bodily heat.

A small red fire burned on the surface of my body as steam rose up. It was literally like fire and ice. The clash continued as my smile grew wider and wider.

BAM! BANG! BOOM! PA!

Punch after punch, kick after kick, I fought against the towering ape in front of me. But unlike my almost infinite stamina, the ape was slowing down linearly. It would soon be unable to fight due to exhaustion. It was very realistic. The imitation even factored in the stamina the beast would have. So, they didn't have infinite energy. Since prolonged and drawn out battles are a strategy to win in this place.

I didn't feel as excited at that point. It was evident that my opponent could no longer provide me with the rush I wanted. So, I finished it with a single punch. Instantly, the ape's head flew off his shoulders and landed on the frozen grass a few meters away.

And with that, the battle was over. That was the second floor conquered.

I got 2 points for the first floor. That means 0.6 points per beast. Jenna informed me that the second floor gave 0.7 points per beast. So, I had 4.1 points at the moment. It was very low for the amount of energy you have to invest. Not to mention time. I guessed it was to make sure it was balanced. If too many points were offered, the students could just do this daily and have more than 1000 points by the end of the year. Effectively getting a lot of really valuable goods.

Then there was the problem of ability. Most students weren't genius duellists or beast hunters. Many were busy studying for exams, tests and other things. This place consumed a lot of your time, exhausted you and didn't provide enough points to cover the cost.

This was meant for the heavily battle orientated students. Most might clear the first or second floor every day, maybe. Only a rare few would go beyond that because a lot of time was wasted. Abby herself spent 3 minutes per beast on the second floor. Might not seem like a lot a first glance, but when you factor in magic energy usage, and how draining it is, then you realise that it's unsustainable. Abby was slightly panting as she came out. She was at the top of the grade in the arena.

So, you can understand how taxing it is.
