Ch.8 I’m Tired

“No but seriously, you’re from New York?” As the advertisements played Raine and I ignited into small talk. “Yeah, but I’m originally from Michigan so I don’t have the accent.” He nodded, with big eyes and fluffy hair. “So where are you from?” “Oh! I moved around a lot as a kid, even accidentally skipped a grade, there are chunks missing up here.” He points to his head. “But I was born in California.” “Really! Wow, you don’t seem like it.” “Hence the moving.” He laughed and I did too. “That must’ve sucked. Never staying in one place.” “Well, yeah. I hated it. Every time I went to a new school I would make friends then have to leave them. Eventually I stopped saying goodbye because it was the same every time. The same fake ‘oh nooo’ ‘no don’t go’.” He chuckled and scratched his head, hiding his face. “Then I started to tell myself to not make friends. I tried but I couldn’t help it. No matter what I did, I couldn’t be mean to somebody who’s trying to be nice to me. It was too hard, so I just dealt with it when the time came to leave. I’m such a crybaby sorry.” He looked back up with reddened cheeks. I shook my head with a smile. I had a random urge to touch his hair as I was staring his shy face. His hair was that trendy white color, it came down in bangs almost covering his eyes. It was wavy and poofy. I reached my hand out and took a couple locks between my fingers. Twisting the soft curls. He turned to me and smiled. “whatcha doin?” “Touching your hair clearly. It was so fluffy I had too. It’s really soft.” He shrugged and turned back to the screen. My hand lead it’s way down, now caressing his cheek, unknowingly. “Why are you soft every where?” I NEED TO CONTROL MY TONGUE. “I-I mean, that’s…” He looked down shy again, and I don’t know why I said that, it’s weird! What do I do now? Even though we were supposed to break don what had happened earlier, we ended up realizing, even if we thought about it, there was nothing we could do. No one would believe us and we barely believe ourselves. All we really can do is see that boy again. And now, in the meantime, we’re playing thumb wars and watching a horror movie. Laughing and sharing our thoughts, even touching. I immediately retrieved my hand. Scooting away slightly as to not creep him out. “S-sorry, don’t know why I said that, please ignore that. He nodded and kept looking down. Suddenly the crowd around us became silent it became dark. The screen displayed more logos and brands, before going black and beginning the first scene of the movie. As the movie went on more and more screams were heard around us. At one point, a squeak sounded beside me and I felt something wrap around my arm. I look over to see Raine clinging to me. He was staring at the screen with wide eyes and parted lips. Afraid of what was being displayed. How silly. Then he came closer. So close I could smell his shampoo. It was something. Couldn’t pin point but I loved it. It’s everything. His arms gripped a little tighter and I leaned toward him. Breathing in. It was intoxicating and made me dizzy. I want…what? What was I gonna say? I shook off my strange thoughts and turned back to the movie. Ive been acting weird. Is it because I’m tired? Yeah that’s it.
