On Monday, I met with Doctor Mattias at the hospital. I lied and told Whitney it was a final follow-up appointment for my concussion. She'd still insisted on going with me, but I'd convinced her to drop me off and go meet Abby for lunch. That had been Isach's idea, which would free him up to meet me later.
I now lay on a hospital bed as Doctor Mattias swirled a cold goopy substance around on my stomach. I stared up at the ceiling while she did her thing. What if the test had been wrong? What if I wasn't actually pregnant? It wasn't uncommon for home pregnancy tests to give false positive results.
I hadn't really had any typical pregnancy symptoms. Other than missing my period, I hadn't had any morning sickness or fatigue or aches and pains. At least, I wasn't attributing any of those to pregnancy. My lack of sleep was because of stress and nightmares. The pain and sickness was a direct result of my concussion.
