The following month was probably the happiest month of my entire life. Trent and I fell into an easy rhythm with the girls, who were healthy and happy and growing like crazy. Everyday they did something to make me smile, and Trent was as caring and considerate as ever. Then again, he always had been. I still had no idea how I'd managed to have someone like him love me.
I flopped down on the couch, blew out a heavy, exhausted breath, and glanced around the cabin. Everywhere I looked was littered with baby stuff. When we'd first moved in here, the place had been functional but bare. Now, it was bursting with too much stuff, proof of a life we'd created. Amazing how drastically things could change.
Frowning, I tucked my feet beneath me. Things would be changing again soon. I was almost out of time as a human, and while I still really wanted to change and spend eternity with Trent, I was also terrified.
