Team 1 {2} - Mission Complete

Among the first batch of teams to be deployed was the Gamma squad. The gamma squad were designated the eastern area of communications. Their mission were unknown to other members of the group except the captain and of course, the Supreme Commander and Norton. Unlike the their companions in the opposite, the area they were in was characterized by a muddy and swampy surface, foggy atmosphere which reduced visibility greatly. Hence, they had to rely mainly on their Ultra Violet googles. The case was even more worse due to the fact that there was information revealing that the security present in that place was very tight, due to the visibility problem.

The group followed closely the chat that was going on in the receivers, more closely, paying attention to the situation at the west, that they failed to pay extra attention to the environment in front of them. Not that they would have even avoided it still had they paid more attention.

'Click'

'..mines"

The words of the captain only made the situation worse, waking them up to the realization that the group had fallen prey to the traps set in place. Moreso, the clicks, didn't stop there.

"Click'."Click'

"I stepped on a fucking mine. I just stepped on a mine."

"Hush hush! No big deal."

"What do you mean no big deal? With your mindless way of doing things, you would waste us all before releasing us."

"Then free yourself!"

"Yeah!"

Two more had stepped in the mines. The situation was no longer a casual mine. Any false move, the entire team would be casualties, as with the mission.

"Shut up!"

"What the f..For God's sake, didn't your security system alert you?" The Supreme Commander furiously roared in the receivers.

There was silence for a while, before a member of the gamma squad who happened to be one of the unfortunate ones replied.

"Not really sir. The systems gave report of a trigger mechanism. However, the technology used here, is the one of time past. It has no rebel feature the system could possibly identify, and it definitely is not a mine of the present age."

The Supreme Commander looked sick after hearing that explanation. It was horrible in his ears.

"Freeze the mechanism" Cap 1 immediately offered an solution to the problem.

"That would only save us one second. What good is that?"

"I know" Cal 1 replied. Evidently, he was brainstorming saying everything that came to his mind.

"Yes! Increase the gravity of your foot wear and come out of it." Cap 1 finally came up with an idea that seemed to be accepted by the scouts.

With time passing by, the scouts were able to utilize the advanced technology in their disposal and get out of the higher gravity foot wears.

Unsurprisingly to the rest of the scouts, the Supreme Commander didn't bother to contribute to getting the scouts out of their predicament. It was almost as if he was saying: "That ain't in my job description." And truly, he didn't care. The scouts evidently knew what was at stake playing with a serious mission.

Meanwhile, at the east, the group were helping each other assisting one another in preparation to continue the mission.

"Sssh" A member of the group suddenly became super alert as he hushed down the team and accessed his surroundings carefully.

"Get down!"

The scout jumped upon a fellow scout tackling him to the ground. A loud shot was heard, accompanied by a bullet whizzing through the air.

The mine incident had alerted rebel soldiers present to the gamma squad. The information of tight security was obviously being proved. The gamma team crouched on the ground ready to engage.

"I have two to my nine o'clock, can't take the others out in time." a gamma scout member analysed.

"I've got same to my twelve."

"Prioritize 2322's safety" Cap 1 instructed, referring to a person.

The scouts analysed the enemy forces as both sides engaged in a gun battle. A scout rolled on the swamp to avoid being hit by any bullet. While still, he had successfully lured some of the enemy forces towards where he wanted them to be.

"Gamma squad, take out the footwear from the mines." he shouted.

That single line alerted the gamma squad on their next plan of action. And with a coordinated attack, they shot off the military boots from the mines with advanced equipments. The result was devastating, but it was expected. The group had successfully taken down half of the enemy forces, but still had to face the second half.

"Hmph" A scout scoffed. He was obviously itching to get rid of the rebels. With one hand already supporting himself as he was attempting to get up from the swamp, he propelled himself twisting horizontally midair. That motion was unexpected, and due to the visibility problem, the tactic employed by the scout worked as he successfully took down two rebels before falling back to the ground.

The rebels were on the losing end, though they had the advantage of numbers. The scouts had variety of weapons, being carried in a small carrier. With their foolproof strategy, they were able to access the weapons with the help of a protected scout.

Another scout picked up his assault rifle, and began moving to achieve a more faster kill. While rolling and jumping, he had left his position and had made his way behind the enemy flanks.

"Scout 2422 reporting. I've got visibility, I've got visibility" He announced.

"You're breaking ranks!" another chided.

"No time better than now." Scout 2422 encouraged himself.

In the next second, he placed his weapon on the ground, pulling a circular electronic device from his belt, he attached it to his weapon. Strangely, the weapon took the form of a sniper rifle with several nozzles.

"Say goodbye my friends"

"Un! Un!" Muffled grunts were heard as soon as the scout fired his weapon, instantaneously bringing down the remaining rebels, returning the swamp it's once peaceful state.

Meanwhile at the west, where the beta squad were crouched on the ground keeping a close eye on the surveillance zones, the sound of a gunshot suddenly resounded in their ears.

"What was that?"

More shots followed after that, and soon began to be heard momentarily.

"It seems the gamma squad's mission, went haywire." A scout observed.

"Not only theirs!" Another panicked.

The attention of the scouts were being drawn to the seven structures meters in front of them., the rebel soldiers inside, who they presumed might have also heard the shot.

"Scout 2546 reporting. Permission to take them out. Energy readings detect a possible change in state."

Cap 1 responded with "permission granted. I have a feeling they might be up to no good.

The scouts already in proper position prepared for a possible shoot out.

"I've got two on sight, one shot."

"Metal would reduce strength. Equipping multi armor." The scout inserted a cylindrical object on front of his nozzle, and took aim. The others having done the say, were waiting for the order to engage.

"Wait" The Beta squad leader commanded. He took his aim and fired. The bullet tore through a wooden part of a structure and struck a rebel on the computer.

"Energy readings show he's still alive." A scout reported.

"Yes he is." The leader confirmed. "Cardiac arrest causing pills inserted in a bullet, capable of causing even the slightest heart palpitations." he explained.

The others looked on wondering how s single bullet could cause cardiac arrest. However, with a hand motion from the leader, the for scouts got up from the ground, slightly crouching, making their way to the structures engaged in a shootout. The first structure was easier to destroy since most of the rebels had gathered around their fellow experiencing heart issues.

The structures were more easier to penetrate when each scout attached a circular device to the steel frames by throwing, melting the steel.

"Beta and gamma are engaged in a shootout, it's our turn." Cap 1 said. He turned back to the two teams behind him and gave signals for them to start moving.

"Baldy, wait for a signal to initiate air strike."

"There are military bases around this place. Worse comes to worse, they would be alerted and send reinforcements, which would be bad. Hopefully, this mission would be finished in time for the others to do their part to destroy any possible means of danger. In other cases.." This he explained to the already confused scouts.

The two groups met few rebel groups which were quickly brought down. Soon, they had made their way to the main Communications control unit.

It was a dome shaped building, with two gigantic glassy like frames placed high up at both ends of the building, dim branches connecting both to each other and down to the floor of the building.

Cap 1 ahead of the rest ran to the front of the building, where there were no other rebel soldiers. He placed his hand on the biometric scanner...

'Transmitting data from access wall..'

The doors opened up, separating from each other allowing the scouts to go through. Once in, on Cap 1's lead, the scouts threw smoke bombs around the place, creating a 'conducive environment'.

More shots were being fired taking out more of the rebel soldiers as the scouts made their way to the main unit. The group spiltted up with only three going with the captain to the main unit.

In their arrival, using the same pattern as before, the security system was bypassed allowing them access. Cap 1 as quickly as ever, engaged a flash grenade, givimg him ample time to get to the communications device.

'Initiating protocol 116. Going offline in 60 59 58..

It was now up to the three scouts to defend the process from being discontinued.

"Phew! I'm glad wed didn't have to use this. It would have been a mess.."

All four teams of five were gathered together just in front of the communications control unit. In front of them were dead bodies ridden with bullets. Behind them were the same.

At the west, the structures were completely burned up, others reduced to nothing, with some mutilated bodies, others in pile of bullet ridden bodies.

At the east, the swamp was almost dyed red. The path way leading to the back of the communications control unit was blown up, taking more rebel soldiers with it.

Inside the building, dead rebel soldiers were piled from the entrance, all the way to the main unit. That had also being completely blown up.

Suddenly, footsteps marching around the swamp could be now be heard. The entire squad had been surrounded by multiple enemy forces all ready to engage.

"..or not."
