Ryan looked around and then, without any hesitation, pushed one of the men near him towards the goblin.
"Ahhh!"
The man screamed and stumbled forward as he didn’t expect such a thing to happen.
And as this scapegoat fell on the goblin and the two of them tumbled back, Ryan quickly moved, positioning himself behind the goblin.
Scree! Scree! Scree!
The creature loudly screeched and clawed the man whose body was restricting its movements. Blood splattered all over, and Ryan’s face was fully covered with the blood of the victim.
However, he didn’t even flinch. He didn’t miss this chance and quickly plunged the kitchen knife in his hand into the goblin’s head, aiming for its eyes.
Scree! Scree!
The goblin screeched in pain and agony and tried to cover its eyes with its scrawny green hands, but it was too late.
Ryan didn’t give it any chance to recover or stabilize and kept stabbing the creature in a frenzy.
Pungent black blood oozed from the creature and pooled around its body. It was a thick and viscous liquid compared to normal human blood.
The creature thrashed about and struggled, but Ryan’s persistent attacks, combined with the weight of the human body on top of it, made it unable to retort back properly.
Before long, it drew its last breath and fell back with a thud, no longer trying to fight back.
And promptly, a small notification as well popped up.
Ding. 100 Experience points gained
Seeing the words displayed on the black screen, Ryan’s eyes became wide.
The zombies had only given him 10 Experience points, but this single goblin had given him a whopping 100 experience points!
Levelling up with these strange creatures was definitely much better than hunting for zombies or killing live human beings.
Ryan didn’t know if someone, by chance, noticed what he had done, so he quickly moved out.
Everything was too chaotic, and probably no one saw what he had done, but in case this chaos settled unexpectedly quickly, then he might get into a sticky situation with the government and police.
He had basically killed another person without any provocation and used him as a meat shield.
Though he didn’t hesitate to do this at the moment, now that the momentary danger had passed, the realization was quite heavy.
But he didn’t let his mind wander. “I should only think about surviving now.”
“I will survive no matter what.” He clenched his fists resolutely.
He didn’t want to take any chances and quickly ran away from the scene of the crime. He ran to the next floor, where a bunch of people had gone.
“Ah… I need four more of these goblins.”
His feet continued moving forward, but his eyes darted here and there, observing every nook and corner for another chance.
None of the elevators inside the mall was functional, so everyone was basically using them as staircases. Ryan as well climbed onto these and reached the first floor.
As soon as he turned, he saw two red-eyed zombies running towards him, and he quickly swung his kitchen knife at them, pushing one zombie down the escalator and slashing the other on its throat.
He stabbed the injured zombie again and again until its head was completely severed from its body.

Meanwhile, the other one wobbled back up the escalator and charged once again towards him.
Ryan panted and quickly took a couple of steps back. He was standing on the edge, and it was too dangerous to fight there.
The zombie followed him and dragged its bleeding, injured body after him, bones and tendons sticking out in places.
Ryan stabbed the horrendous thing with his knife again and swatted its hands away with his other hand.
He didn’t know if whatever was happening was contagious, so he made sure that he wasn’t scratched or injured in the slightest.
