Traitor (part 02)

With unspoken agreement we began to follow the black figure into the night, blending in with the shadows.

It was obvious that this person, who was possibly a man, was apprehensive about something.

Of course, it was not uncommon to find an idle person on the street walking the streets, but I had a strong feeling that I should follow him and that if I followed him, I would discover something important.

We followed him for almost half an hour until finally he started to slow down and walk more relaxed, totally different from his behavior until a few moments ago.

Walking for a few more meters, we soon saw the house of the City Lord, which was the probable destination of that figure.

I continued to watch him from afar and saw him getting closer and closer to the gates that were heavily guarded by guards.

Looking at him as he made his way endlessly towards the entrance to the City Lord's room, I couldn't help but conclude inwardly. "So it's someone next to the Lord"

Slowly narrowing his eyes and watching his silhouette reflect inwardly as he muttered under his breath. "His figure is not strange to me, I have the feeling that I saw him somewhere"

Unfortunately, I couldn't complete my line of reasoning as he approached the guards and after showing his face, was released through the gates.

I exchanged a quick glance with Neila and without waiting too long we blended in the darkness once more as we slipped through the gates of the house and continued to look for clues about those people.

We walked around the outskirts of the room, taking care of the guards who were hovering in the hope of finding that person.

Fortunately, our intense search was not in vain and we soon found a single room that was dimly lit on the second floor.

There was a tree close to that room so, without waiting too long and doing our best not to make any noise, we climbed the tree and focused our vision on the window that was ajar.

Inside, we could see a hooded black figure apparently looking for something inside his room.

A few minutes later when he seemed to find it, he went to the window to close it when the clouds over the moon parted slightly and we could finally see that person's face.

"He!?"

"This person!"

Neila and I exclaimed quietly at the same time recognizing that face.

In accordance with the internal rules of the City Lord's House, at this time all staff would be off duty and not have to perform any duty at this time.

Putting all these points together, we could only come to a single conclusion.

"Looks like we found the traitor"
