The Debutantes Ball (part 05)

"You flatter us, we're the ones who appreciate the invitation" Said someone returning the gesture.

"Yes, we thank you for the opportunity and get to know each other better" Said another.

I kept my usual smile the entire time and after exchanging a few more greetings, we started to eat our meal.

The atmosphere was light and everyone talked lightly with each other, everything seemed fine on the surface and no one knew what was going on in each other's minds.

Finishing my plate, I got up and said goodbye to everyone before walking towards my room.

There was still so much to do and I would have to get up early the next day.

On the way, I asked one of the other witches to pass a message to Brayan and the others apologizing for not being able to spend time with them and that as soon as I could I would visit them.

Arriving in my room I took a quick shower and got ready to go to sleep, the next day would be another busy day.

The next two days passed normally and in the meantime, all the guests arrived and were assigned to stay in the eastern part of the mansion.

All the preparations were ready and everyone was looking forward to the ball.

I was in my office reviewing the last details, some questions regarding the buffet and the drinks that would be served, as well as music to be played for the dance and some small details of the decoration.

As I was immersed in those papers, I heard the sound of someone knocking on the door.

*Knock on the door*

Averting my gaze, I stared at the door before saying. "Come in" And then I saw a beautiful woman dressed in red walking through the door.

She was very similar to me and when I saw her I got up to meet her and asked curiously. "Mother, what brings you here?"

"Nothing really, just wanted to see you a little, I hear you've been in the office most of the time the last few days"

"Yes, I've been finishing organizing the event and I'm finally finishing it, these are the last details and after finishing them I'll be free"

"That's great, how about we have a mother-daughter moment together afterward?"

I looked at her surprised by the proposal and after thinking for a while I nodded in confirmation and said with a smile. "Sure!"

After we talked for a while, she happily walked out the door.

My mother always cherished these moments we had together and I felt the same way.

After I inherited the rank of matriarch I might not have much time to spend with her, but whenever possible, I would opt for more of these moments.

Tomorrow was the baptism and I would officially come of age by turning 20, after that it was time to get on with our plans.
