The Next Steps

I awoke to Octavia's dream biting my neck. I gently pushed her off and sat up. in the chair in front of the bed was Queen Serenity.

"Are you impressed with yourself?" She asked.

"Quite frankly, yes I worked hard last night," I replied beaming.

"The wounds from your ahem battle are evident. You came through for us. The evidence of demon-controlled nobles has been brought to light. I shall reward you a home here in the city. As well as a title for yourself. Baron-ship awaits you, Sir William. If you accept that is." She Smiled as If she was giving me a grand gift.

"I'll pass for now. I don't wish to be tied down to one country as of now." I replied standing up.

"Sir William please cover-up!" Serenity exclaimed.

I chuckled as I threw on a robe.

"Hey, you're in my room this early what did you expect to see?" I replied.

Serenity sighed as she buried her blushing face in her hands.

"What's next for you Sir William?" Serenity asked.

"The demon king and I need to have a few words about not touching things or people that aren't his. might make him swallow his teeth. I haven't thought about what I'll do to him, I guess it all depends on whatever stupidity falls from his mouth." I replied nonchalantly.

"You're going to go to war with the demon king?" She sounded shocked.

"I guess you could call it a war, though it'll just be me and Octavia if she feels like coming along," I replied shrugging.

"Oh, I'm coming, someone has to make sure you come back alive." Octavia chimed in sitting up.

"Your both heathens you know that!" Serenity exclaimed covering her face.

"Don't be jealous cause I tasted him before you could," Octavia growled sticking her tongue out.

I sighed these women were going to be my death I swear.

"What will you need? We can provide money or whatever you need." Serenity said.

"Give us a few and we will be dressed. we can discuss what I'll need then." I replied waving her out the door.

She bowed and walked out mumbling something about me being a womanizer.

"William, you know what you're getting into don't you?" Octavia asked quietly.

"No, not really but I decided I'm going to do what I want. Right now, I want to kick the demon king's teeth in." I replied putting on a shirt.

Octavia got up and got dressed, we walked out together. a pair of maids waiting for us to leave the room. They pointed and giggled. I caught one's eye and winked at her. She blushed a deep red and ran into the room. I laughed, messing with people here was way too easy. We walked into the throne room to see Serenity arguing with someone.

"How is he so important! He's a nobody!!" a whiney male voice filled the room.

"For someone who sounds like a mouse in a cheese grater, you bark a lot," I replied before Serenity could answer him.

"Sir William, Sir Donahue here was protesting you being rewarded. Don't you find it disrespectful for someone who's never fought to declare your efforts unnecessary?" Serenity had a mischievous smile on her face.

"Dona douche if I were you, I would leave while I still have a smile on my face understood?" I asked glaring daggers at the man.

He stuttered something then ran off.

"Serenity that's not funny," I growled.

"I apologize Donahue is a Noble family that has only bred useless trash and con men. I figured a real man would love kicking trash out." Her smile never wavered, clearly enjoying what had just happened.

"Look let's get this ball rolling. I only need two things. I need enough money for travel expenses and a guide to help me navigate this country." I said holding up two fingers.

Serenity waved her hand and a man brought forth a big bag of coins.

"The other request will take a moment. please enjoy launch with me" Serenity said standing.
