"I really want to know, please father." Cain said in the sweetest voice possible.
"Fine but don't worry if you can't understand and use them yet. I will begin with the top one it is light. the rune controls light energy going through all elements. The bottom one is darkness it's a special type of energy since it is the remanence of energy. the four sides are earth, water, air and flame. each combination of runes is the possible sub-categories of the main elements. For example, fire manipulation is a combination of flame and air. Stone manipulation is a combination of earth and water. Frost manipulation is a combination of water and air. There are many more sub-categories which you will have to discover on your own."
"So, the different combinations are different possible spell circles." Cain asked thinking he could use the runes to grow stronger.
"Correct, the next test will be how well you can control mana flow." Cormaxium said as Cain went to the next test.
It was a large floating silver ring with blue lines decorating it like circuitry. "Put your hands on the ring and focus your energy into the center for as long as possible." Cain did as he said, and the blue circuits glowed and stretched, then gathered under his hands. A blue light then filled the center of the ring. He held it on for a whole hour. This was easy for Cain since his memory allowed him to remember the feeling of his past core. The energy that flowed from the core was way harder to control then the mana he made flow through the ring.
"Great control for one so young." Cormaxium said proudly.
Cain was drained after holding the ring for so long. He was going to rest but his father quickly stopped him. He gave him a bright blue potion. Soon his energy flow felt as strong as before maybe ever stronger.
Feeling reenergized he went on to the last test, which was mana barrier creation speed. He had to create a 4-foot circular barrier of peer mana that can withstand a fireball. It only took 30 seconds for Cain to create. Which was great for his age, then a machine created a magic circle on the wall in front of him, then a large ball of fire was came appeared and went roaring at him.
Boom*
the fireball made impact with the barrier and not a crack was left. "How good is this child, that fireball would leave most young one's barrier on the verge of shattering even the more powerful one's were cracked slightly." The examiner said shocked by his power. "He is my prodigy son, and the last of my children so he has learned from them all." Cormaxium said proudly.
"It has paid off his score is 155. Now onto the intelligence tests."
"There are only two the written test and mind scan and they will happen at the same time." The examiner said while we went to another room with a metal chair in the middle. As he handed me a holo-tablet with 55 questions on it, I sat in the metal chair in the middle of the room. Wires came from the chair and were hooked up to his head and spinal cord. It didn't hurt as the wires entered his skin without him feeling anything.
He started the test and after 25 minutes he was finished the whole time his hippocampus was on full blast. He read many books and could recall the information on a dime. "Cain's intellect is a high 82. Another great score for him. His final stats are 84 in strength, 106 in agility, 155 in control and 82 in intelligence." The examiner read off the tablet he held. "I expected this Cain and I'm so glad you exceed my expectations."
Then he turned to head out "thank you, examiner. Now it's time to go to our next stop, let's go Cain."
We left and got back in the hover car. "So, what type of weapon were you thinking of using. It's important you choose a weapon that will suit." Cormaxium asked as we started off.
"I guess I'll see when we get there sometimes a weapon is not a choice." Cain answered back as They reached another slightly bigger building that had an anvil with a hammer on top. This was the blacksmiths weapon shop.
They got out and entered and Cain saw an assortment of equipment. There are weapons on the wall and on racks arranged in different sections. There were screens that people could look on to find an equipment quickly, it gave stats and location. on the screen are 3 big sections labelled plasma, physical, mana, and cybernetic. In each section was further division between long ranged, close ranged, short ranged, and area of effect. Further division between defensive and offensive equipment. Last was the type of weapon or armor. The weapon strength was rated by stars from 1 to 7 stars with one being common weak equipment and seven being legendary godlike equipment.
Cain first looked through the spear because that's what he felt most used to he first looked at the plasma spears. There were only 6 of them and two were three stars, while the rest were two stars.
He looked at the mana spears next hoping to find something he liked. In that section were 2 spears and the 4 stars- [mana focusing blade] caught Cain's attention it had a 40 in control 25 in strength and 5 in agility. He was going to buy it, but he still wanted to search the physical section. In that section 23 spear are stored. The strongest of the spears being a 4 stars glaive called [frost eater].
It was made completely out of ice. It was a dark blue that almost looked like metal. He went over and touched the weapon it resonated with him and the cold aura it emitted was amplified. He felt the weapon increase his frost energy, his very breathe was like cold air.
"I want this one it speaks to my soul." Cain told his father. Not bothering to look at the cybernetic spears.
"Ok, then are you going on to armor or would you like to choose another weapon?" Cormaxium asked patiently.
"I would like a ranged weapon, but I don't know what to get." Cain said to Cormaxium hoping he would refer something.
"Well, it depends on whether you would like to use your own power or the power of the weapon. Bows, throwing knives, and mana guns use your own power to attack with projectiles while plasma guns, physical guns, and cybernetic blasters." Cormaxium told him.
"I want a mana gun. something that I can use at any time."
"Then take a look at mana wrist shooters." Cain did as his father suggested He saw 8 wrist shooters. He looked at 5 stars- [separated trio blaster] which was three different blasters combined in one.
the first one had a long barrel, and the body of it went on the forearm with electromagnetic connects on prongs on the front under the barrel. The second one connected to the first with outlets that attached to the prongs, and it had a short barrel on the front of it and sat comfortable under the firsts barrel for recoil reduction. Then the third in sat below the arm connected to the second like a bracelet. This one's barrel was the same length as the second, but it had a wider end.
Rein though this was perfect and decided to go to the armor sections. He quickly found a 3-stars blue and silver light armor that covered his whole body except arms and joints. The helmet the looked like a spartan helm could appear and disappear. It also had the ability of mana skin which was a layer of mana to protect the wearer from damage.
Cain thought these weapons and armor were go so, after he got some mana and healing potions at his father's request. He went over to the front counter and his father purchased all the items for him.
"it's discounted for the leader and protector of our city" the old man behind the counter said he had no hair, but his beard was made of cold white flames. his arms were made of a grey skin that was full of scrapes and scratches. This was the blacksmith Gormond.
"Be careful this wrist blaster you chose is powerful, but it takes a lot of mana to use." Gormond said with a gruff voice. "it's what keeps most from buying it."
"It will be no problem for me." Cain told him confidently.
"Hmm. I know someone who said something similar about this girl's sister blaster. I hope your right young man." Gormond said while waving them off.
"Good day, city-master." Cain and Cormaxium heard as they walked out the door.
