Chapter 25: She Paused

Chapter 25: She Paused

It was of no question that Leila Bridge spent most of her time in her house. Sometimes, she would just miss going outside with friends. For the past few days, her phone buzzed constantly with these friends she had made throughout her life. Most of them were genuinely concerned about why she took a break. But she could feel the dread creep into her system, the worry that came with taking some time off. What were people saying about her? They’d understand, right?

Suddenly, the reality of a million eyes watching her became more real than it ever did before. She bawled her fist up, leaning against the kitchen counter. It didn’t help that the nightmares were getting worse.

She felt tired.

She closed her eyes.

She opened them again to find that nothing changed.

Instinctively, she felt her hand-drawn to her phone. As if on cue, Hunter barked at her. He whined and circled. She blinked and smiled wryly at him. She petted the dog and stood.
