Fifty-One

Clancy was placed in her cell by one of the guards assigned to her. She looked up to see that a familiar man with sun kissed skin and blond hair was staring at her with a bundle of cloth in his hands.

“This was made for you.” He said slipping the bundle between the bars.

Clancy placed the bundle in her lap opening it to see that it was thin prosthetic face that was in her skin tone with high cheekbones and a slender nose. She put it on feeling the interior was soft against her damaged skin. She took the black ribbons attached to it and tied them behind her head.

“Thank you.” She said quietly.

“The least I could do for my savior. I never did get to thank you.” Adrian said.

“You’re Adrian Acardi, Reynaldo’s brother.” She said quietly. “I don’t deserve your thanks.”

“I don’t blame you for Rey, from what I’ve heard Serena was a tough woman to say ‘no’ too.” He said.

“I’m still sorry.”

“Did…did he suffer?” Adrian asked carefully.
