He took me to a quiet place. A fountain that stood 100 feet tall. It was so beautiful.
"I've only seen pictures of this place." I said to him staring at the fountain.
"I like coming here at night where there's nobody here. It's a good place to think." Then he looked at me "or talk." That's when I looked at him. He wants to talk? I thought.
"There's nothing to talk about." I said as I turned to look away. I was lying. I had so much to say. "Really? A normal person whose life just turned upside down would have lots of questions." "Well, I'm not normal," I looked him in the eye. "Am I?" He shook his head.
"No, you're not." We stayed quiet for a while.
"How come the man could see you and I could see you but the cops couldn't?" I said blurting it out even though I literally just told him I didn't want to talk. Again stupid, stupid, stupid. "When I came to get you from the psychiatric hospital it's because you were already in danger from seeing what you had. That 'man' I killed that night and the man from the hospital could see me because they automatically have the sight. All supernatural beings do." He said.
"Supernatural?" He tilted his head.
"What? Don't tell me after all this that you don't believe?"
"No, its not that, I'm still just processing. And what about the cops?" I said.
"Human." I stopped for a minute to think about what he said and then I finally understood. "So you can make yourself invisible if you want?" I asked.
"Not exactly. Humans are blind to everything they believe is fake. Like fairy tales and myths for instants."
"So they can't see if they don't believe?" I asked.
"That is correct." He smiled.
"So what about the ones who do believe? How do you stop them from seeing what you don't want them to see?" I asked.
"With a little thing called magic."
You have magic?" I was glowing with excitement.
"No." He turned away. Excitement, gone. Then I thought real hard about everything, and the question I should of asked from the very beginning.
"But- I can see you." He shot me a look as if I wasn't going to like what he was about to say. "I know."
"But I- don't understand." He took a step closer to me leaving about a foot between us.
"I thought about it and I know you're not one of them because they tried to kill you which means, they found you before I could." I cut him off.
"Wait what do you mean they found me before you could?" I said trying so hard to understand.
"I told our head master about you. Turns out, you might be the one we've been searching years for." He smirked. "Although you weren't easy to find."
"You mean I'm not...?"
"Human?" He paused. "You haven't figured that out yet?" "Then what am I?" I had the answer to that question. I was a freak. He took another big step closer to me and looked down at me. He turned his head to look at the fountain and sighed then looked back at me again. "You're not going to believe me when I say this but..." He was cut off by a loud screech in the distance. He moved closer to me and grabbed my arm.
"What is that?" I said as quietly as I could.
"A Griffin. I think it's a Griffin." I looked up at him. Did he just say Griffin? As in mythical creature Griffin? No. This isn't happening. "Wait! You think?" I asked. Oh great.
"I don't know! I've never fought one before! They are upper class demons!"
"You're kidding me right?" A caw interrupted and I turned around to see the giant bird like thing flying towards me. I screamed as the hooded boy pulled me toward the ground. The Griffin flew over our heads just barely missing us, and circled back around.
"Run!" He yelled and pulled me up off the ground.
"You don't have to tell me twice!" I yelled. He ran ahead of me. I ran faster trying so hard to stay by his side. He turned and saw me falling behind and reached over and grabbed my hand. The Griffin was following right on our tail. The boy turned again to see me losing my breath. He pulled me along making a sharp right turn heading toward the giant fountain. I tried to speak wondering why we were heading straight for the water but I went along knowing that he had a plan. The hooded boy looked back just as the Griffin leaned back ready to grab me with his sharp talons and yelled "duck!" I came to an abrupt halt and hit the ground with a bang. I struggled to my feet again and started running straight for the water.
"Jump!" He yelled over the Griffin's loud caw.
"What?!" I yelled and came to a halt in front of the lake. He stopped to and bent down to my level and stared into my eyes. "Trust me," he said barely coming out of his mouth. How can I not with those intense gorgeous blue eyes staring back at me? I nodded and wasting no time he grabbed my arm and I jumped with him. The water was clear... and deeper than I thought. I looked at the boy. He was telling me not to go up for air. Then he pointed down and started to swim. I looked down and there was a dark object. As I swam closer to it I could tell what it was. A cave. The cave was farther away then it appeared to be. I swam some more and it wasn't getting any closer. I started to run out of breath. I looked around and the hooded boy was gone. I panicked. He was nowhere in sight, and I needed him now more then ever. I couldn't reach the cave and I couldn't make it to the surface in time. I kicked and tried to scream. I circled around trying to find him. I was getting tired.. I was a goner, I could feel it. Then, I blacked out.
