Chapter 9- Train Me

When morning came I woke to a knock on the door. I walked to the door and opened it only to find Caroline standing in the doorway.

"Oh, hi." I said confused. "Did you need something?"

"Let's get one thing straight. I don't like you. Stay away from Chance. You're going to get him killed, and I'd rather watch you die a thousand times than to see him get hurt because of you! Keep your mouth shut about this conversation too. If I hear you've mentioned it to someone, I'll have your head on a plate. Comprende?"

"Y... yeah." I managed to get out. She smiled.

"Good. Oh and by the way breakfast is ready." She smiled real big and skipped away. What just happened? I thought. Does she really hate me? Or is she just jealous of Chance and I?

I got dressed, closed the door behind me and headed down stairs to the kitchen for breakfast. I walked in to find Chance and Josh sitting at a table alone. I joined them. "Where's Caroline?" I asked confused because she was just at my door yelling at me.

"She walked in grabbed some food and left." Said josh.

"Well, grab a plate, sit down and join us."

"Thanks" I said. I grabbed a plate full a eggs pancakes and toast and sat down to join Josh and Chance at the table.

"So what are we doing today?" I asked.

"We're going to go train you in the gym so you're somewhat prepared for next time." Said Chance. Two things came to my mind just then. First was we? Are they both going to train me together at the same time? And second was, next time? All I did though was smile in response. When we finished eating we walked to the gym. The gym was way bigger then a normal sized gym that's for sure. There was a trampoline, a what I think was a boxing or fighting ring, and shooting range with a whole bunch of weapons on the rack on the wall. A workout room was also connected. Up high looked to be a trapeze set? Hmm.

"You sure do have a lot of weapons." I said. "Most of which I have never seen before."

"Well you know, you need mythical weapons to kill mythical creatures." Says Chance. I shrug my shoulders. "Makes sense. So what are we doing?"

"Well we'll do some warm up laps and then we'll head over to the workout room and lift weights to build up your strength. Then Josh will teach you some basic defense afterwards."

"Why Josh?" I asked confused why he wouldn't just continue after the first half. "Oh I don't do teaching." He winked at me. "Besides he's older and has already completed his training, unlike me. I still need to train too." Right I forgot Chance was the same age as me. After warming up with Chance, Josh taught me some basic defense skills to protect myself, like how to throw a punch correctly. How to get out out of different lock positions, and how to dodge hits and kicks. By the time we were done I was exhausted, and was safe to say I really did such at this stuff.

When I woke up the next morning I was in aching pain, and I realized the world I knew no longer existed. There is so much more that nobody even knew existed. This is real and I was living it. I knew I was in way over my head, but I knew that I can't take back what I had seen. This was my life now and I had to except that one way or another.

I headed down to breakfast and immediately poured myself some coffee.

"Good morning to you too?" Someone said. I jumped and turned to see Chance sitting at the table.

"Chance, you scared me! I didn't see you there. Good morning." I smiled.

"How are you feeling?" Josh asked walking through the door.

"Sore. Very sore, and apparently very out of shape."

"It'll get easier. We'll work on something else today." I almost choked on my coffee.

"You're not going to go easy on me are you?" Josh smiled. Not a chance.

After breakfast, I changed and headed to the gym. Josh was already warming up so I joined him for a run.

"We're going to work on your balance today."

"Oh no, please tell me we are not going up there?" I pointed to the trapeze. Josh laughed.

"No we'll start out on these beams. Each one gets a little longer and a little skinnier. You're going to do each of them until you no longer fall off."

"But that could take all day." I said wide-eyed.

"Better get started then." He winked and left the gym.

It was ten at night when I finally mastered the last beam. I saw no one all day except for at lunch when I went down to the kitchen.

Now, I was so tired. I went up to my room, took a hot bath, then crawled into bed.
