Character Creation Info Dump

[Now that you are officially a user of the Heartless System, it is time to create your body. There are two options for your starting body, choose wisely!]

[Pureblood Heartless][Emblem Heartless]

'This system moves fast!' Will was surprised to jump right into character creation without any explanation. Looking at his options, Will doesn't really remember the difference at all. He tries to ask the system for more information about them, hoping that the system is user friendly.

'Can I get an explanation on each?'

[Sure! Pureblood Heartless form from places steeped in Darkness. That's Darkness with a capital D. These Heartless are naturally occurring and normally gather in large numbers wherever they can be found. Individually, however, these Heartless are very weak. This type of Heartless has the potential for great power, however it is limited by a very harsh beginning. Pureblood Heartless passively absorb the Darkness in their surroundings to grow stronger. The rule of thumb is that the older a Pureblood is the stronger it is. This type of heartless is immune to most physical attacks, however it is weak to magic and will be destroyed completely if killed.]

[Emblem Heartless are similar but completely different. Through a process unknown to most, Hearts stolen by Heartless are converted by an external force into these manufactured Heartless. Emblem Heartless can possess great strength from the start of their existence, but their potential is influenced by their environment. For an Emblem Heartless to become stronger they must travel and experience new worlds. Emblem Heartless can draw on the power of each new world they visit to enhance and change their body, though normally this is rarely seen due to Heartless in general lacking intelligence greater than that of an animal. Emblem Heartless are, just like Pureblood, immune to most physical attacks and are weak to magic. If they are killed Emblem Heartless do not get destroyed and instead reform elsewhere a little bit weaker. This is due to the special process that created them from a Heart, the only way to fully kill an Emblem Heartless is the use of a very special weapon.]

Will took a few minutes to read and reread through his options. Each explanation reminded him of instances of Heartless in the games. 'Honestly, they both have their pros and cons. Pureblood Heartless is probably the safest choice because the majority of them are found in the World of Darkness. If I start there I could peacefully relax, probably even sleep my life away, while growing stronger by the day.'

Without any hesitation, Will selected Emblem Heartless.

[Are you sure?]

[Yes][No]

'Yes! It would be too damn boring to have to wait to grow stronger!'

[Emblem Heartless selected, due to your choice you may now choose a form. Here are your available choices:]

[Pot Spider]

[Creeper Plant]

[Rabid Dog]

[Popcat]

[Hook Bat]

[Red Nocturne]

[Powerwild]

[Crescendo]

[Rapid Thruster]

[Soldier]

[Driller Mole]

[Mushroom]

'Woah, that's a lot of choices. I thought I would get maybe one or two. Hmm... Looking at them I can eliminate Pot Spider, Creeper Plant, Rabid Dog, Hook Bat, Crescendo, Rapid Thruster, and Driller Mole for being too weak or boring. That leaves Popcat, Red Nocturne, Powerwild, Soldier, and Mushroom.'

Will deliberated for a few seconds before coming up with a decision. 'System, can you tell me more about those five?'

[Sure!]

[Popcats are ambush predators. They live, much like pot spiders, in a pot-like shell. These Heartless are much more feline, however, and prefer to stay out fights. Popcats start with the Pot Throw and Camouflage abilities.]

[Red Nocturnes are apprentice magician Heartless. These Heartless can cast normally only cast a single spell due to their lack of intellect and are rather fragile. They make up for this with their ability to levitate away from danger. Red Nocturnes start with the Fire Magic and Levitation abilities.]

[Powerwilds are monkey-like Heartless with a penchant for brawling. They are treated as underlings by many more intelligent Heartless and are physically gifted. Powerwilds start with the Brawling Parkour abilities.]

[Soldiers are humanoid Heartless that look like knights from a bygone era. Though wearing heavy armor, these Heartless are not slow. A Soldier Heartless focuses heavily on its agility to disorient its foes. Soldiers start with the Speed Tumbling and Intimidation abilities.]

[Mushrooms are mysterious humanoid Heartless that not many people know about. They are one of the few species of docile Heartless that are not known to attack others. Mushrooms are particularly well known for playing charades with people who meet them. Mushrooms start with the Charades, ???, and Gifting abilities.]

'These all look pretty solid, but what is up with the Mushroom? System, why is one of the Mushroom's abilities just question marks?'

[That ability has been omitted from the description because the System has considered knowledge of it too influential on the decision of the user. The System strives to make each choice equally beneficial.]

Even if the System was being vague about the reason behind not showing the ability, Will could only think of two reasons why it wouldn't show it.

'It's either a strong ability or a super detrimental ability. If it were a normal ability the System wouldn't consider it influential. Fuck it, I'm gonna gamble on it being overpowered. In the games the mushrooms had weird abilities, but none were really bad.'

After gathering up his courage, he took a deep breath and selected the Mushroom.

[Nice choice! You have obtained the Abilities: Charades, Rules of Engagement, and Gifting.]
